Kovalev said in an Interview 2 years ago that Beterbiev is physically strong and has a granite skull. He fought him twice in the amateurs and lost twice.

I had it 5-3 to Bivol going into the 9th round, from that point onwards it was all Beterbiev hence why I had Beterbiev winning the fight

I've rarely seen Beterbiev on the back foot . Just a bulldozer coming forward . No punches seem to slow him down from any opponents. He keeps going forward.
And he's more dangerous on the back foot as Joe smith and Callum found out.

I had it 7-5 Beterbiev. With him winning rounds 3,5-7,10-12 rewatched twice. Beterbiev had Bivol on the back foot a lot, and his punches had more affect on Bivol than they did on Beterbiev. Bivol would land a good 3 punch combo in the round then not do too much after that, Beterbiev was more consistent though out the rounds, set the tempo and pace of the fight.

5:10 it wasn’t half an hour, the time between main and co-main was over an hour. From the end of the co-main, to the first bell of the main, it was over an hour and a half. With respect, no one wants to listen to concerts and yapping at a boxing event for that long. The UFC lets the show flow even if there are stoppages.
True but that's because co main ended in the first round so they had to feel in time
Facts, the Riyadh shows have artists that aren't good. LA and Wembley had Liam Gallagher and Eminem, it's not even close who is more popular and more well liked.
That's how the Saudis do it. So you have a few options;
1: Get the fights you want and enjoy the concerts
2: Get the fights you want, skip the concert and give your missus some attention between fights.
3: Go to bed then watch the fights you want to see on TH-cam the next day (for free)
4: Don't get the fights you want to see and you won't get the concerts either.

When the final bell rang and bivol raised his hands up...he was just happy that he made it to the final round without getting knocked out and all the pain he was enduring was finally over...not that he though he won the fight! He was just thankful the nightmare was over! And i don't even think he wants that rematch its just that people pushing it so he'll have to take it! But the way i see things go if the rematch happens beterbiev is definitely going to knock him out to shut all the haters down completely

It was a great fight, loved it 🏆💯 Respect to both fighters warriors. Butertiev won by two rounds and he finished stronger in the last two rounds and he was cutting the ring landing putting the pressure on Bivol.
He still wasn't recover from that knee surgery. It wasn't his 100 percent and didn't able properly did the whole game plan. The next fight will be more exciting.
I also believe so, that wasn't his best performance bcos he didn't have a tune up fight after the knee surgery. Had he hit the body more we wouldn't have gone to the scorecards cos already in round 5 Bivol was on overdrive.

It’s not 7- 5 Bivol . It’s the other around. Bivol lost the fight because of his running. He ran a bit too much. Most people wanted Bivol to win so much that they were disappointed that he lost. Bivol clearly lost! Beterbiev threw more punches, landed more punches and was the more aggressive boxer, setting the pace of the fight. That’s why he won!
HE SMASHED kovalev twice in the amateurs. Broke his nose in one of them.

IMO Bivol was at his BEST that fight while Beterbiev was lacking a solid camp due to knee, so I think Beterbiev can go up a level in a rematch while Bivol won’t be able to do any better then last fight. Bivol opens up more, hence he’s been saying that’s why he lost every interview in his opinion. So he will think he needs to press forward and throw more and end up getting KO cold in rematch.

The punch that you are talking about that seemed to have rocked Beterbiev could have been a set up for Bivol to think that he had Beterbiev and got pushed back by a hard jab. I do call Beterbiev a boxer fighter who is pressing forward at all time forcing his opponent having to stand their ground which is a dangerous proposition colliding with that monster. People don't seem to realize that in scoring a fight that one of the most criteria is effective aggression such as the pressure that Beterbiev was applying on Bivol who wanted no part to confronting this guy thus, it becomes obvious Bivol to be running away without landing any effective punches. Bivol is a master boxer who knows how to navigating the ring in a fight that he knows that he can't win because of his opponent strong point. I don't know if people are bias about the looks of Beterbiev and their desires to favor Bivol looks over Beterbiev , but it was obvious that a judge couldn't give this fight to Bivol. due to his lack of engagement throughout the whole fight .

We want 50-50 fights but get mad that we have close decisions and not a clear dominant winner… very happy to see fair decisions though. Didn't have a dog in the fight, didn't score the fight, just loved watching two elite boxers go at it. It does give an interesting discussion to whether boxing should be scored on who has thrown the more damaging punches or volume of punches. Perhaps we should go back to the old days of winner is last man standing....

Primary scoring is for clean punches landed. Second is defence.then effective aggression. Then if nobody is landing it is the guy who is pressing the action.

You have to take into account the effect the scoring punches are having on the opponent. Beterbiev won this, but it was close. Bivol was brilliant and showed a hell of an engine, dancing about for 12 rounds. It's no wonder he had to take the odd breather and in those moments Artur made impacts.
It won’t happen in March. March is Ramadan and Beterbiev won’t fight in Ramadan. It’ll either have to happen in February or after April

Bivol didn't win that fight and he knows that. Beterbiev wasn't just winning the last minute of the round, he was beating him up-hurting him. Like in round 7, Bivol was being battered.

It's funny how everyone sees it so differently. I saw Beterbiev pressing the action, dictating the pace and the real estate, for about 2:45 per most of the rounds (especially the latter 2/3 to 3/4 of the fight), but about 15 seconds per round--five seconds here, five seconds there, and five there--Bivol would stop, fire a two-punch combination, wait a beat, then fire a three- to five-punch combination, connecting once or twice altogether, but generating a lot of enthusiasm (especially from Osuna and Bradley), before Beterbiev would turn it around again. Others, though--like Ade--saw it the other way around. All in good faith. It was a close fight, and depending on your interpretation of the all-too-abstract-and-subjective notion of "ring generalship," it tilted one way or the other, but in either case didn't give us the sense of separation and clarity we were hoping for. We don't like the idea of 1a and 1b.

Huge factor that keeps playing in my mind is beterbiev had a huge knee operation 5/6 month ago and still dictated the pace the whole fight. Only Father Time will beat beterbiev, fair play to bivol he’s an extremely talented fighter but just not as good I’m afraid.
I wanted Bivol to win the fight. I scored the fight round by round, based on who I thought the judges would likely give the round to, not who I thought won the round

Artur needs to start quick like in the Callum fight, he woke up late in this match (as the majority of his fights) and he also said in mid rounds kind of went slow. On the rematch if he`s warmed up..bivol will go down

Please someone explain swing round there is no such thing when it’s a close round you give it to the pressure fighter. When you go to the school of ref and judges they explain the difference between amateur and pro. Amateur more point system like fencing and pro base off pressure and control

Bivol was on the back foot after Round 2 & was gunning away from Beterbiev & threw punches in the end of rounds to try to sway judges. That’s not boxing, the right boxer won . Bivol’s gameplan wasn’t that warrior gameplan that he usually has. Look forward to the rematch !

Surprised the Golovkin comparisons haven't occurred more frequently. A skilled boxer with massive punch power who can walk through what's coming back must be terrifying and demoralising. Fair play to Bivol for being hard as nails too.
the robbery drama and calling it is just a money push from eddie. It was a close fight with razor thin rounds, so can easily see a judge going with what they like. I think calling for a judge to never work again when you're so public and involved in boxing should shame eddie. Boxing won with a great fight, I had it a draw and would love it again!
Only age is his enemy at this point. Barrages of heavy short punches are no joke.. Remember Artur still won on his bad day...

No one asked what EPO is and what it does.
Hint: "Accuracy" doesn't matter, at all. A guy that throws 20 punches to land 10, landed 10 shots with 50% "accuracy". But a guy that throws 10 punches to land 10, still only landed 10 shots. The "100% accuracy" doesn't mean anything. You don't get punished for throwing more punches, you don't get rewarded for throwing less.

People are posting the damage done to Bivol’s face because it dispels the idea that he was just integrally catching Arthur’s shots in his guard. Many of Arthur’s shots were splitting the guard, going around the guard, and generally compromising the integrity of the high guard causing damage.
Edit: In an amateur fight with head gear and larger gloves, this would be less evident and scored accordingly. But this is a professional fight and that dynamic matters.
Bivol caught man of Canelo’s punches in their fight - and go check out his face. Bivol’s high guard remained integral vs Canelo.
Ade, great work as per this week. I totally agree with you about the 30 minute entertainment break. I've waited a lot longer than that when a co main finishes early especially on those late late late night American big shows over the years. Wether you're into the artists or not it's still better than pundits having to fill airtime just going over what's already been said a thousand times during the week. Just no pleasing some peeps. Ade your thinking is correct, I like to look at the time in each round that each fighter had control so if one fighter is winning for 2 minutes of the round and the other 1 minute then the guy with most control time wins. How do we get that control time as a factor in boxing?
One thing I would say is that Beterbiev had most of the control so for you to be suggesting this and making out Bivol won is wrong.

The point is about the complaints about the " entertainment" before the fight is its not what fans are paying for, they are paying to watch boxing.
We are Boxing Fans, Boxing Fans, if we want a Concert of any length , WE WILL go to a concert. This is Boxing, STOP trying to change Boxing with this nonsense. If BETERBIEV works on his neck now to improve punching resistance, in the rematch he could go straight for the knockout and I believe he would took Bivol out of there quickly. He would have to eat lots of those quick and clean shots but eventually Bivol would get caught clean with some combination and that would be end.
