Disciplining your child is one thing, humiliating them in public is something completely different. This is emotional abuse and could have very bad repercussions on the girl's emotional state, especially if she's bullied because of this. Maybe if this girl had been raised right and taught values from the beginning, she wouldn't be rebelling and skipping class.
Why don't restrict her pocket money for example ? Then she won't be able to join in most activities outside School cause she has no money to spend. And perhaps try to ask her why she did it in the first place. Asking is never wrong.
Every form is discipline is not wrong. I probably would have taken away her phone or computer until she started showing up to school on a regular basis, or grounded her from TV until her attitude improves. Or what "more moor" suggested. All of these are good forms of discipline, and have better outcomes. The daughter could have left school for a valid reason, her mom needs to find out before reacting this way. Either way, though, humiliating her is just going to make her more resentful and rebellious than before.

There are reasons why this is not encouraged by any school function. It is extremely important for children of any age to be able to differentiate their social life from their familial life. Any kind of public schooling is a huge foundation of a student's social life. This behavior by the mother could stunt the student's social development amongst her peers as well as amongst her family (not including her mother). There are studies where this constitutes as potentially ruining development. There are much better ways to deal with it that work with every teenager if you do the right research.

I work in a school. 1) You can't just go around filming whatever you like in a school. Very explicit permission needs to be granted for time and reason. 2) You can't even just walk around a school, parent or not. You need to be signed in by front office and accompanied at all times. I doubt any school would grant permission for a parent to bully their child. 3) This is what would be considered a clear case of abuse in the form of bullying/humiliation, which I trust will be reported to the proper authorities by someone who knows the family. This is a very good example of how not to parent.

I used to ditch class sometimes cos my anxiety was so bad. If we had a presentation or something coming up in class I would be a mess, shaking like a leaf and physically sick thinking about it for several days sometimes weeks beforehand. The only thing that would keep me sane was knowing if I ditched that class I wouldn't have a panic attack and completely embarrass myself doing the presentation. There are reasons why this is not encouraged by any school function. It is extremely important for children of any age to be able to differentiate their social life from their familial life. Any kind of public schooling is a huge foundation of a student's social life. This behavior by the mother could stunt the student's social development amongst her peers as well as amongst her family (not including her mother). There are studies where this constitutes as potentially ruining development. There are much better ways to deal with it that work with every teenager if you do the right research.

I mean I used to ditch school because my friends and I were bored. I was a straight A, honor student with advanced classes and the teachers respected me and blah blah blah yet I still ditched. I knew the majority of people in my school (small school of about 1.1k) and the reason most of us ditched was 1)boredom 2)didn't want to be there 3)to smoke/drink 3)really tired 4)hard test or project. On top of that, my school had a 9/10 rating, high scores, etc. It wasn't like it was a trash school, underfunded, bad kids, etc. I could see why a kid might not want to go to school to avoid certain people though. Everyone's acting like I was coddled as a child or something. I was physically abused by my father for my entire childhood. Just because this mother isn't beating her daughter doesn't mean this is good parenting. If the daughter is already skipping school, how on earth will this motivate her to go? How is this solving the issue? So she goes for a couple days, after that she's bullied for her mother acting crazy in school and never wants to go again. This is awful parenting. No debate.

I work in a school.
1) You can't just go around filming whatever you like in a school. Very explicit permission needs to be granted for time and reason.
2) You can't even just walk around a school, parent or not. You need to be signed in by front office and accompanied at all times. I doubt any school would grant permission for a parent to bully their child.
3) This is what would be considered a clear case of abuse in the form of bullying/humiliation, which I trust will be reported to the proper authorities by someone who knows the family. This is a very good example of how not to parent.

Jovina Because of point 3, friend - no school would allow a parent to humiliate their child publicly and furthermore, even if they were okay with the premise of it, she wouldn't be allowed by law to film any other kids like she did (blurred out or not, it doesn't matter - she still filmed them in private property without their parents/caregiver's written permission).
If you want to argue that you believe she got disclosure forms signed from every parent of every child in the school who could have been in the hallway at the time the mother entered and started filming at the school, then you go right ahead sir. I'll just say I'm doubtful.
a parent does not need to be accompanied. Not every school has the same rules as yours. Implying every school does is like saying because the high ways speed limit is 55, then because i don't see a sign in this parking lot the speed limit is 55.

I used to ditch class sometimes cos my anxiety was so bad. If we had a presentation or something coming up in class I would be a mess, shaking like a leaf and physically sick thinking about it for several days sometimes weeks beforehand. The only thing that would keep me sane was knowing if I ditched that class I wouldn't have a panic attack and completely embarrass myself doing the presentation. If my mom found out and shamed me by following me to class like that girls mom, I would never forgive her
