- Gary Mullen & The Works have been invited twice to perform at the BBC 'Proms In The Park' event in Hyde Park, London ... alongside Andrea Bocelli, Katherine Jenkins and Las Vegas legend Barry Manilow. Being described as "the highlight of the day" and receiving rapturous applause from 45,000 fans, cemented their reputation as being "much more than a tribute".
Fancy being able to play Hyde Park like Queen did. What a thrill.

This guy is absolutely amazing . Not only sounds and acts like Freddy , but as a singer he is really great .
Saw them last night; they were FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!! If you didn't know Freddie was dead.....well, you know, Gary was that good! The band was awesome too. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the real Freddie, so this is the next best thing.

Just look back at some old Queen concert videos. I think these guys make for a GREAT tribute band. Reading a previous comment, yeah it sure would be nice for this guy to join up with the original Queen band. I think the original guys prolly still hold the memory of Freddie deep in their hearts. You can copy and imitate singers until the cows come home but, at the end of the day, there will NEVER be another Freddie Mercury. His voice will live on forever. What a great man. Such a talented musician.

I agree with you that Gary M. is better than Adam L. but this guy is NOT the perfect FM act and this is my opinion. I will never get tired watching Freddie's videos. FM is the best of all times (so far)
Adam is original and he is performing with original queen band members
And maybe you should realize that AL isn't trying to be Freddie in the slightest bit, he performs the songs in his own way, hence why Brian and Roger took him on as their singer

With the new Queen movie being released, Gary should be getting a ton of new bookings. Gary should have been used for the vocals in the new movie and he should be used in the new lead FOR QUEEN!
Hell na, Queen don't want to replace Freddie... Freddie isn't here anymore, and the want to give him the best tribute. He even said, that he hates coverbands and singers which are imitating him, Queen and the music and artwork. It would also ruin the hole thing between Queen and the fans.. So they also broke off the partnership with Marc Martel.
He doesn’t sound like Freddie though. Also, Queen doesn’t want someone to replace Freddie, let alone act like him onstage, hence why they chose someone like Adam Lambert
90% of Freddie's vocals were used in the film, why the hell would they use Gary's 🙄

Edit: The show was everything I expected and even more. He truly embraces Freddie to the fullest and puts on a hell of a show along with his band.

Omg. A little bit different from Freddie but I think nothing to be desired.
But I don't think he should do with Queen because he's not Freddie. Freddie must not be replaced to another person, and cannot. I don't want Brian and Roger to search person who can sing like Freddie, so I think Paul and Adam are good to do as new Queen with them.

Yeah. Terrific! So many years on and still it stirs us all. Maybe Gary Mullen has it all now and the original Queen members are just playing out until they reach retirement. Brian May et-al are nothing without Freddie.

I can see you're very enthusiastic. Queen were big when I was in my late teens. The shows were huge and the following was huge, too. I see what you mean in many ways and wouldn't detract from your dedication. Maybe I feel this way because I remember when Freddie was at the very top and all his showmanship. It's a big contrast to what's there now. Keeping the music alive is like keeping the times alive, too. That's fine by me. Enjoy it all, every moment.
***** Oh yes, there will never be another showman like Freddie. My father died the same week as Freddie, so I had a lot more on my mind than most people at the time. I've only recently come back to thinking of those times. I had three Queen albums in the 70s', but music seemed to phase itself out for me when Punk rock took over. I felt it all ended then.

Yes. TH-cam is great. I've seen a lot of programmes from when I was a boy that never get repeated and so many other things as well. I watched a programme about where Freddie was born. Such a poor area. It makes you feel that he made such a lot of himself, coming out of an area like that. Probably very few other people have that. I used to chat on the internet to a bloke in America. He said his father had been a Corrections Officer at San Quentin prison when Johnny Cash came. He said you knew you were in the presence of someone great when he stood in the room.

I haven't really heard anyone sound like Freddie before his death. As soon as he got rid of the mustache, his voice just... kinda got sharper and had an attractive timbre to his sound. His rasp started to sound Like buzzing. THAT Freddie can't be replicated so easily!

Everyone knows that Freddie was better! If it wasn't for him, no one would have ever heard of Gary... However, I give my respect to Gary as he is doing a great job imitating Freddie and creating a great atmosphere!

Please drummer please be more selective and play Rogers parts please. You need more than a 10” Tom. Start with a 14” and go from there. You’ll do us and everyone else listening (lots of folks) a favor. Listen how roger plays. Open hihat to closed on snare. Very distinctive. Listen.
