- The road trip continues, as does time on the snow with my AMG GT R! Kicking off with a few snowy donuts, it's a long and eventual voyage to Frankfurt taking me via central Geneva, the supercars at Perego Cars, an amazing photo location, a car on fire at the side of the motorway, and then horrendous weather on the Autobahns. Safe to say it was a more intense day than I anticipated!
The AMG GT R is truly a weapon for mile crunching and having fun, with its boisterous and shouty character, combined with tremendous touring capability in terms of space, comfort and features for the road, I'm just addicted to driving it. There's a lot more in the plans coming up, even more time on snow - something it's already done 3 or 4 times already!

Tim that is one angry sounding engine. The car on fire Looked like a people carrier possibly a Vauxhall Zafira they had a problem of Fires starting in the glove box area.

Shmee take it to Portugal, for sure, do the Algarve track, there is not a better track to explore your car, have fun, do ridiculous speeds and pretty safe in terms of traffic sensibility and runaway and that will not destroy your tires and brakes (maybe paul richard)

I agree on how stressful long-distance drives are in bad weather. It can really take the fun out. I really love that you're not afraid to drive the GT R and put the miles on it.

I think your completely correct to use it to it's full potential and use it as much as possible, at the end of the day its been built by people who know what their doing and who have been in the game for a long time so it shouldn't let you down. It's also your car that you've worked hard to pay for, so use it how you see fit, if people have a problem with that - tough. They should buy their own.
There's this dude that owns a 2014 Audi RS6(by his intelligence it's 2016 lol), and dude put like 35k kilometers on it. He lives a few streets away from me. If I were to own a car like that or GTR, it would be driven to it's potential, which is the maximum. I know Croatia is a quite poor country and he doesn't want to drive it much but then he doesn't deserve it. It doesn't matter what car we all own, we should drive it to the max. Cars are meant to be driven not to be in a goddamn garage for most of it's time. Like, if he's gonna own it, then he should drive it all the time.
I'm glad that people in my country don't give a flying fuck which car people drive here.

This was a pleasure to watch! It reminds me of driving from Miami to Chicago in December in my old clk500. You go from 90 heat, to rain, to snow. The last time, I hit Atlanta in a snowstorm on summer tires haha I love to watch you bond with the AMG; all the way down to the parking space marked #67 😃

Beautiful car. When I was your age I would load the 1979 BMW and Drive from San Francisco to Lake Tahoe for skiing. I was a terrible skier but the driving was awesome. Later I made many ten hour shifts driving on snow and ice as a Reno cabbie, front wheel drive. I got so I could pass Porsches and jeeps on snowy roads like they were standing still. Back then the car didn't do so much to help.
Please, please come to Portugal! There´s nothing like driving in the Douro Valley! Cheers

I drove in similar conditions (dark and raining) 7 hrs from Munich to the north not too long ago. Yes, that is exhausting, much more than going twice the speed when it is dry and sunny.

Of course you have to visit Finland too with GT R, specially Lapland. And yea, you're right when driving on bad conditions. It is exhausting. I drove 1660km few years back with 3h sleep on the way, and the weather was as bad to whole time. Not the most enjoyable drive.

Hey Tim, be careful using TC, the constant turning on the brakes makes the disks hot and in winter conditions could cause a slight to fatal cracks in them. I drive C class and despite the fact I cant fully turn it off during driving it feels more fun and disk friendly! Nice GTR you got there, enjoy!
Yeah, you should go to Portugal. Search for "Douro Portugal" it has some of the most beautiful roads on earth. That would be a sick trip. Full of twisty roads where all you see are vineyards and the river (the road follows up the river)...

Honestly, I prefer driving in snow vs the rain. The rain makes it hard to see while the snow is still clear and you just have to be careful and not slip. But they both have their pros and cons.

I did 500 miles to Scotland a couple of times and the last trip was in terentral downpour and it really does take it out of you. My steering kept going light as I was aqua planing on the motorway and I passed a car that had flipped on its roof.

There's a place named Jastrebarsko near my town Samobor. It has some nice roads.
Also, there is a nice road to the mountains near my place where I live.
I didn't do much driving and stuff like that since I don't have a proper car to do so...
...but your GTR will definitely have fun on them, along with you. :)

Just be aware that fuel here can be expensive, especially for your GTR. :)

Go to norway and go to a place called nordkap, the northest place you can get on land! Beautiful place with the northern green lights
