Fantastic explanation. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
You have no idea how helpful that chart was for me, i never knew the major scale is called Ionian, and the "metalcore scale" I figured out was actually just the Dorian, thanks man
I never knew that this is wat it was called i dont know scales nor modes thats just what i figured out on my own
Man, that Gibson LP ROCKS. Gotta get me one like that.
This is definitely one of those “too afraid to ask topics”. I appreciate it
Absolutely! The only difference between any mode is positional! That's why it takes knowing where they are. Like you said, memorization is key. Loved this video dude!
Thanks for watching! I appreciate you
That's wild, as a beginner I just started learning this 2 days ago and here you are posting a video about it.
I got the new CD in the other day. It has a permanent spot in my cd player in my truck. Every track is a banger. Well done, brother. Keep it up.
This was great man! I’ve been playing guitar since I was 13 and am now 37 and have always been interested in music theory via guitar playing. Thx so much for this!
One of the best videos explaining this mode I’ve seen! Thx so much. I would love more of this kind of content. You’re a great teacher.
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Thank you so much for saying that what you are doing/showing doesn't just happen overnight. Your knowledge is pretty extensive, and many of your viewers probably don't realize how much time you have already spent learning and practicing your skill. I appreciate that about ya. Keep it real, Ray. You definitely have something good going on here.
I appreciate you bro
love that silverburst les paul one of my favorite colors on a guitar and thanks for the lesson as well. As a self taught guitar player its alwasy good to learn some new tricks and licks.
I have a love/hate relationship with music theory as a songwriter who always loves to evolve, but I’m only diving into it to get the sound I’m looking for, for the specific project at hand. I’d agree with you, but the other mode to learn right away I’d have to say is Aeolian which is…well basically a fancy way to say minor scale but with focusing on those 6th and 7th flats, they make transition chords sound more sonically pleasing. I’ve already talked my most I can in one day about music theory aha. But on a serious note, always love how you expand your content. Definitely a go-to when I have time to sit on TH-cam.
Hey dude I appreciate you taking the time to comment! Hope you’re doing well
@@xanderraymondcharles definitely can’t complain. My custom Kiesel 9 string recently came in and I’ve just been in love playing with it for my next project. And I always bring this up, but if you can get a signature guitar, I think it’s about time for you to RELEASE YOUR SIGNATURE SCISSORS SO WE HAVE EVEN MORE FUN ON NGD’S! 😂
Just checked out your album on Spotify and its a straight banger. Well done
Dude, you explain this stuff better than just about any one on the internet! Where have you been all my life?!
Hey thanks! I’ve been here the whole time just hanging out!
New subscriber from Kansas. I think this video best addresses what makes scales confusing
"Do the time and effort to study" - Very wise. It's not always just bashing strings. Know the right order to bash them.
More of this content please!
thank you for covering this concept, since everyone else does ''music theory fast!''i wasn't learning anything from. love you're channel. 👌
These are very helpful. Hope to see more. Thanks for doing these.
Thanks for checking it out!
Tank you for this video!
It was a useful reminder for me, to learn finally this stuff. I know that this will help me to understand the different styles... 🙃
Definitely need more content like this
You used Flashcards, I thought I was the only one. They're brilliant learning tools & I'm glad you confirmed it. Sharps/flats of my 6 keys (C,D,E,F, G & A) also notes of pentatonic.
Great explanation BTW. I already knew this, but that was well explained
Music theory has always been a foreign language to me and i am blown away about how simple you made it, I’m about to level up because of you, thank you
Great video! Thanks man 🤘🏼😎
Thanks for checking it out!
Thanks for the extremely helpful lesson! Will be revisiting this video often.
thanks so much for checking it out!
Dude you are great at explaining this stuff. Thank you so much. Do more of these type of video
Nice guitar lesson, very cool
Comparing the other modes to Ionian is a good start. Altering to come up with a different sound. Remember though, you are changing the key when you do that. 🤓
Excellent content, very well delivered! Nice job!!!
I'm playing along with you. I like this drop d major. That's different. Usually it's minor
Nice explanation. Love you channel!
Damn dude thank you!! Super helpful. 🎸🤟🏻
Best way I’ve seen this said and demonstrated. Extremely helpful!
I'm trying to learn music this way. I've been playing for 8 yrs and the only thing I know is learning and reading tabs. Anything outside of that I am clueless on the fret. I don't know anything about scales or the different modes. I just learned different type of modes by watching this video. So there is a lot i have to fall back on and restart. I don't evem know anything about half step or full step. lol
Really been trying to improve my understanding of music this past year. This video really helps :)
Great stuff👍
just pleasing the algorithm with a comment lol
Great video
Thanks bro!!!
It always pays to learn and memorize all the mode scale patterns. After a while you'll be able to connect everything.
i agree!
This!!!! Once you learn how they overlap they layout all the notes on the fretboard for a given key. You can then let your mind run wild with creating riffs or improvising using those notes.
Great video Ray. I always really enjoy and appreciate your theory videos!
Thank you for posting this. Very hard for me to understand this. I’ve learned by ear how to play. Every thing I do on the guitar is memory or sound. How can I get around this or is it to late for that. I’ve been playing for 50 years
It’s never too late to start learning a new skill!
I enjoy the theory videos you do and would love more. Love your channel and been a long time subscriber. Why not a regular once a week theory series? 🤔
That’s a great idea
Great video and tasty tone. Are you running a Mesa?
thank you buddy ! Chug
How do you get that sound??????!!! Sick
Great video, don’t know much but love hearing theory! Could you show us which bands use which modes? If that makes sense.
Nice I was just learning the Lydian Mode last night and this pops up
That is one nice guitar
I've been playing close to 30 years man and I learned some useful shit today. You fn rock dude! BTW lately I can tell how old your videos cause of how bearded and ripped you've become lol 💪💪 Take care fam
Maybe an indept video on harmonic minor modes for the next! I like this approach to your channel❤
I feel like I had something to do with this video Xander 😂😂😂
Like this content.
How about some lessons 1/2 per week??!!!!
first love your videos xander
Legit help
👍👍👍
i appreciate you
Anyone trying to remember mode order by name: I Don’t Punch Like Mohammad Ali
