Novos = New. Baianos = Who is born in Bahia. They were something else, they mix genuine samba and Bossa Nova With rock. They lived together for a while, in countryside, as hippie, making music and playing soccer.
And they were new also in the sense that would continue the works of older baianos, such as Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Joao Gilberto, Dorival Caymmi and many others...

They lived as a community in a farm, formed by famous musicians of Brazil. They were part of a movement called 'Tropicalia' that introduced electric guitar in brazilian rhythms (that had much resistance by some). Names like Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil were part of this same movement.
The Novos Baianos musicians lived in an alternative community on a farm between 1971 and 1975. This recording must have taken in this place and in this period.
