Many congratulations BK. I was on the edge of my seat, screaming at the TV ! Thanks too for the LSD series, and all the work that goes into that. It gives us mere mortals a real insight into the highest level of the sport we all love.
On the chairlift this (Sunday) morning at Whistler Bike Park I found myself sitting next to a boy, perhaps 12, from England. We were discussing the World Cup and it transpired he lives one town away from Bernard, and we were agreeing that Snowshoe was just a fantastic result. I am, at my fiftyish age, at risk for boring children with my management theory anecdotes but I did observe that Bernhard’s combination of leadership, attention to detail, communications skill and ability to just absolutely send it is just extraordinary. When his racing career comes to an end, Bernhard should be running UCI downhill, although the sport would be lucky to have him. NB The kid was wearing a Dyfi Pike Park shirt and they were shortly heading to Coast Gravity Park. Bikes are the best. Congratulations Bernhard, what a race and what an emotional LSD for your viewers and fans.
