Jamaica is not a ‘black’ country. It is not in Africa. Africans are not Indigenous to Jamaica. All Jamaicans were taken there by European settlers who captured the island from the indigenous Taino Indians. African origin Jamaicans eventually became the majority but that doesn’t mean they have more claim to Jamaica than any other Jamaican. If Europeans didn’t bring them from Africa Jamaica would remain a ‘white’ country. Now Jamaica is a country belonging to the offsprings of all those taken there over 200 or more ago. That includes ‘Chinese’, ‘Indians’, ‘Syrians’ etc. They’re all Jamaicans.

Lorna is a Jamaican she get her information from JIS Jamaica Information Service, she has been asked by High School to come in and teach our students about our history because the government of Jamaica remove Civics Classes from our school. In the 70s Civics was a part of the examination, no wonder so many people doesn’t know their history.. Today I’m sixty six I am not a spring chicken all I want to do is pass on knowledge about our country’s history and stop misleading stories.
