Not sure what the trains are like in Vietnam but I am much more a train person over a bus. Overnight trains are good value - especially in Europe. More room to stretch your legs and move around. They can be bumpy depending where you are. Would be more expensive than the bus. But I have never seen a sleeper bus like the one you guys were on. Would probably check it out to see what they are like. You save on overnight accommodation so good choice as long as you are not totally worn out the next day.
This 5 stars bus at night is just a kind of feeling from airplane :D, why not, its a funny adventure if you want to indulge yourself. train is also very relaxed but cheaper and more locals and landscape on day. The route by bus would require good road conditions in Vietnam. Thx for sharing again, very good travelguide.
FIRST 😁😁 We are leaving Australia in a few months to travel through south east-asia! We want to make videos soon too! Thank you for all of the amazing reccomendations, cant wait to see more 😄
People seriously underrate flying in Vietnam. I lived there for three years and flew almost all of the time. Flights are dirt cheap in Vietnam, like very close to the price they paid for that bus and you'll get there in an hour instead of 9 hours. Also while I was living there there had been a high profile tourist bus company that had gotten into some bad accidents so that's another reason why I just flew. It's faster, safer, and just slightly more expensive.
L&M love your vlog of your VN trip. Keep them coming. The reason why the bus driver blow the horn all night long (I'm guessing) is to warn people there's a fast big vehicle coming around a bend. As most people in (rural) Asia don't always have horn/lights on the bike or walking at night. I had the same experience 20years ago on a night train from Kunming to Sapa. I didn't sleep much either. Llloyd the movie on the bus is IP Man 3.
Check out Dive Bar while you're there.. its in the Ancient town center. Really fun place to meet people and live music A fantastic noodle dish only found in Hoi An is Cao Lau. There's an excellent tiny resto that serves it down past the farmers market in ancient town.
Sweet holy hell that is a spaceship luxury sleeper compared to the horrors of sleeper buses I got to endure throughout China. ya good stuff. I always wondered why they don't have 'sleeper airplanes' but then I see they are trying a version in the first class areas.
I enjoy watching your Vietnam series, and it look like you both are having a good time. If you're in Hoi An try Banh Mi Phuong, according to Anthony Bourdain it's the best he had. The area also know to have Mi quang and mi Cao lau.
Ho Mandy I am really looking that you lived in Vancouver, BC so did I for 44 years. That is really a beautiful life and retirement Wass for us Reed and I move to Windsor I our. home next to his brother and we have been retired in 1 full year.............I new your accent was other then Lloyd he is from Australia I think.......let me know if I am right about Lloyd home.........this is a great video again.......many thanks🤩😜🤪
Sleeper bus? Any night! I travelled Perth to Adelaide (Australia) and back with 2 small kids in a normal bus. We all survived and leaving to tell the story. Keep travelling and blogging, I really enjoy your vlogs! 😊
Tall people have advantages in many ways but that's not the case when you travel. Think of the cramp and tight airplane seats, etc. These sleeper bus' overwhelming customer base are Vietnamese so you can understand why the dimensions are appropriate for the locals. As for the noise, they honk to warn the scooters they're there, and yes I know that's not the ideal way but it is what it is in VN. As a former scooter rider driving in small streets/highways in VN years ago, I think it's safer to know those behemoths are nearby as I can stay away from them. But Lloyd's suggestion of bring an ear plug is the way to go. As for sleeper train, Vietnamese are used to being/living/eating in a communal fashion but we Westerners probably aren't used to it so unless you enjoy having strangers sleep in the same cabin, you probably wouldn't like it.
I know you were just goofing around with the guy that measured himself next to you but don't touch or clap his head, here in Asia its thought of as rude and a way to say I regard you lower (as in less valuable) than me. Mostly they will not react to it when a tourist does it as they know you probably have no clue but try to avoid doing it anyway! I love your vids and watch them all.....even I have been to all the places you have visited so far (living in Asia for 30 years) its still so fun to watch you discover.
u actually have to understand that u have great sense of humor, somehow i can see it can be ur brand in the future. u better explore on that mandy and lloyd, keep up
As long as u alive u will needed $$$. Y’all so young n y’all be able to do it is awesome. When I’m young like u I’m too chicken to do it. Thanks for sharing.🤠
Hopefully you and your partner enjoy during that’s times in Vietnam ….have interesting times , exploring culture , country and people Vietnamese…..more.. ., thank you y’all 🙏🥰😘💞💖💞❤️
Enjoyed the bus vid thanks. I remember sleeping on the train on the way to B.C. from Ontario when I was a kid. I’m starting to think Lloyd could be an Aussie robot. Lol 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
good lord yes i remember this vip bus ..story time when i was in vietnam on this vip bus lol! so there’s still lots of empty bed actually but the driver asked me to move to the above bed and i was like but why? so weird that he didn’t even response to me so umm whatever i just followed what he said but minutes later a local came and he quickly chose the above bed which right next to me so i asked him why he chose that bed? he said he’s always on sleeper bus ride (local, make sense), and it will feel less bumpy than the below bed.. me: woah? ..but heck yeah he was right. I really had a goooood sleep the entire bus journey lol!!!
You guys can get a flight in Vietnam as well! It is also very cheap too! Save you guys a lot of time. That what i do every times when i go back to vietnam due to limitation of the times!
This bus looks decent and roomy. DO THE VIP buses vary a lot? we need to take a bus from ninh binh to hue next week and would be happy to be on a bus like you were on.
Hey Lloyd, actually top bed is more beneficial for you, if you're in the bottom bed, when the person above you get in and out it would be very annoying.
Most people book the top bunks for the bus, the bottom is very rocky, you can feel the engine and the bumping on the road, Vietnamese fight for the top bunks, they even say they're elderly so they need the top cabin when booking. The bumpy is the road not the buses....
Can you please be more specific about what can and cannot be brought along on the trip. Is there under carriage storage? are you traveling with rolling suitcases? Oversized back packs? Travel bloggers should cover things TRAVELERS need to know.
Hey guys unreal videos and great content. Im Alot older than you guys, so its great to see what is on offer in Vietnam. My wife and I are going there soon. So thanks and keep up the outstanding work you are both doing . cheers
Hey guys, just watching the O/n bus trip. How tall is Lloyd(you look 190cm+)? We did 3 sleeper trains in Vietnam about 10yrs ago and while the comfort level wasn’t quite the same, I think there was may more room, but a bit more sharing if you don’t mind that? Worth looking at to see if they have cabins now?
Guys! If you are in Hoi An, there is going to be banh mi related content, right? Would love to share this with our Perth-based banh-mi group; 10k strong, and growing!
I think it would be pretty similar if you are taking a sleeper bus in indonesia, such as java island or south sulawesi (makasar to toraja), quite bumpy, not suitable for people above 180cm and has a really small toilet.
Loyd looks like Johnny Durand, an Australian hangglider pilot. the same effect can be found in Québec where there is some shared phenotype in these populations produced from a small initial group, almost like an extended family. interesting.
I’m just wondering if you two looked into flying between those two cities, and how much would it cost to do it that way? Thanks for the content; I’m enjoying your channel.
it is completely pointless to take a sleepover bus if you were actually trying to sleep. it is next to impossible with them swerving the bad suspension bumping all the time and the constant honking to move the bikers out out of the way. and then you will be exhausted and wanting to go to sleep but there is nowhere to sleep because you have to wait until 3 PM to check in at the hotel
I traveled on a sleeper bus in 2013, and will never do that again. The one I was on was not as nice as yours but on a trip over 10 hours, it was very uncomfortable.
In Vietnam, when entering a cafe or restaurant, you ask the staff for the wifi password, they will happily give or type it for you, I do that often, so I go online often without spending money.
O! U have to put the bag of food together with the bag of sandles, 🤭 If the driver dropped your luggages off from the bus roof, or if it s raining, what will they do for that? 😳 For many years of living in Hanoi, one of warnings is taxi driver always drives to the wrong direction to make more income. The city is so small, make sure at first price, and how long it s going to take to your destination. Not much to see in town, only the museum… better make to Sapa (northern).
A LOT of these overnight so called sleeper busses are know for end of life crashes.....the drivers tend to be overworked and fall asleep.....take the daytime bus.....good luck..
hello? we are heading to vietnam too. I don't seem to see any link to this night bus you took, Would you mind sharing the name or website to book ? thanks so much!
Hello Lloyd and Mandy. I’m currently in Vietnam and needing to book my first bus and was wondering what website you used to make your bookings. Do you have any recommendations please? Thanks for the help in advance! Katie
Perhaps dont do a train, Damien from TheMonkeys channel travelled in Vietnam and didn't recommend it main issue someone kept coming in his room from 2am regularly disturbing him
Flying is quicker and doesn't cost much. I am sure if I was a budget traveller this is definitely the way I would go but been there and done that so my holidays now would never include a bus or train in VN for hours on end.
Railway would be a better choice for foreigners when travelling a long route in Vietnam say more than 200km. Get paid for the bottom and get the guests to the top has always been seen in this kind of buses. So not many local tourists prefer to choose these buses.
When I took the sleeper bus I didn't sleep at all. It was so crowded that they put an absolute stranger in with me. Luckily she was female but I couldn't object or my option was to get off the bus. I allowed it since the lady was getting off at the next stop but it was weird. I couldn't sleep at all. That was weird as hell. I was afraid that I would get my things taken if I fell asleep.
Love love LOVE!! y'all's videos! I'm headed out to SE Asia this fall to Indonesia and Thailand and maybe I'll add Vietnam as well! Also, the movie on the bus was "IP Man 3". I love the movie series! Hope you guys got some rest! You do great as always😁😁
Hanoi to Danang in July flight £85.17 2 persons .10kg hand luggage 23kg checked included. 1hr 25mins Vietnam airlines I would rather pay extra and I'm a scotsman ?
Would you spend the extra money to take this VIP sleeper bus?

Oh Heck Yes!
The train is much safer and less bumpy then the bus.

Trains in Vietnam owned by govt. not very nice even if you booked a private cabin. It's not very clean

When you take a night bus, you could choose the seat in middle, it would less bumper than seat in the end of the bus
Make sure you take all important stuff off the bus during toilet/lunch/dinner break. I lost my backpack 3 years ago. Enjoy your stay in vietnam.
Better than Bali... no begging or filthy beaches.
It’s Ip Man 3, the movie with Mike Tyson
My partner and I are thinking about Vietnam, but were a bit scared. Your video helped alot! Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!

Yup. You r right. He look so kool, need more smile Mate!
good to now about the shoes in the bus.
I don't like taking my shoes off (and I have smelly feet). will need to find a stratagem.
What do you guys think is the best place for digital nomads now? Love the channel thanks
Um, it's that the seat you booked was the tire seat - yeah the bus' tire was literally next to you, hence the bumpy feelin'
I love your video, thankyou for sharing 🇮🇩
Nice bus! I am 193 cm tall- may not sleep much!
This looks so cool! I’d love to try it one day! Thanks for sharing

Best place to be situated on the sleeper bus or any is in the middle, less rocking and rolling. Great video. 👍
Very true!

When I took a sleeper bus they had a luggage compartment under the bus, where they put the passenger's larger bags.
You guys are so patient and positive. I m viet I m not patient

The flights between HCMC and Da Nang are around $35-45 one-way. The bus was probably for the experiences.

There’s about 3-4 movies and it’s based on a very popular Kung Fu Master
in German , the hotel cheap 170 Euro for 1per...Vietnam very cheap ..
I prefer to fly versus taking a sleeper bus. Just the experience was worth it though.
When I took the sleeper bus I didn't sleep at all. It was so crowded that they put an absolute stranger in with me. Luckily she was female but I couldn't object or my option was to get off the bus. Movie name is ip man 3 which has Mike Tyson in it
Love it as always guys
The movie...think its Ip Man 3......."Ip Man" should be Cantonese (Chinese dialect).
13:17 , i think that movie is IP man 3
IP MAN is the movie. There’s like 4 of them. Lol
that movie is I P man , the movie is about bruce lee's master who tech him Kung fu.LOL
Are there outside baggage bays like a traditional bus?
Movie was Ip Man 3
Do the sleeper buses have toilets?
Lloyd is probably too tall for the bus sleeping quarter 😆
what are you looking at when talking to us?
Should just fly though, it is pretty cheap to fly in Vietnam
