This right here is all I need! Whenever I do stuff, if it is plant chores, or cooking, or anything, I always want to talk about something or hear people talk to me. So when I do plant repotting today, and plant room clean up,I will listen to this!
@@PlantswithKrystal keep them coming!!! at YOUR pace, of course. no rush 💛 i do the same thing with long form content, so i’m super grateful to be blessed with this long video from you!! 🙏🏻 i hope you and the OC have a wonderful day -well, week, month, all that 🧡🌿🧡
My dad died 16 years ago, and my mom died 21 years ago. I STILL get choked up and teary eyed when I talk about them!!! They were the best parents in the whole world and I'm grateful for them!!!
It’s ok not to share something to personal… I feel your pain.. I recently lost my dad a month ago… yes Im feeling the loss, but I know my dad doesn’t want me to cry anymore.. everyday Im missing him & yes my plants help me… I look foward coming home from work.. ( Prek teacher) God’s word gives me strength… Gods word, uplifts my heart.. My dad was a believer & he’s now @ peace.. 🙏🏼
Your husband sounds like an angel and he was right about you. I found your content recently because I'm working on taking care of my late mother's plants. My heart goes out to you.
Bless your heart. I lost mine unexpectedly 5 years ago and thank you for telling people not to ask because it’s still hard and it’s something you will tell people when you’re ready and it is very personal and painful. Remember there is no right or wrong way to deal with loss and grief and there is no time period. You do what you need to do to heal yourself. And you set the tone for friends and family about your boundaries and it’s ok to talk about those loved ones lost. Prayers & Hugs to you
“How do I get on here and act like nothing is wrong when everything IS wrong”…. That hits home and the answer is YOU DONT. Having lost my husband in 2016, I can say pretending like everything is fine isn’t truly possible and be sure to extend yourself grace - the same way you’d do for me or anyone else in that situation. *hugs*
This was very therapeutic for me. I’m not super present on here and I only started following last year so I didn’t realize. I am so sorry for your loss. I definitely follow you for your witty humor and your immense knowledge of plants and I have grown my collection and hope to mend my newer ones based on what I see from you. You seem to be thriving in your work from what I see ❤
I found your channel over the summer, & it’s become a great place for me to come to when I’m having a bad time. I lost my son’s dad just a little over a month ago… & since he was so young, of course people ask me how he passed away, but like you said, how he passed, is irrelevant, it’s the fact that he passed, & that’s hard enough. I really like how you worded that, & I will respond with that answer from now on. I’ve always loved gardening outdoors, but until I found your channel, I never thought of indoor plants, I now have 7 in my room lol (it’s the only safe place for them to hide away from my cats😅). Having them to “work on” has been such a great escape over this last month, I’m even trying to get my son into it with me. We’ve been trying to go to a new nursery every weekend. Thank you so much for all the knowledge you share with us, it’s truly so valuable, & so appreciated! Wish you all the success in the world!
Guatemala girlie here 🎉 I’m glad your doing well , you don’t have to answer the tough questions if you don’t feel comfortable with it do what’s best for you we will love you regardless ❤❤
I am so sorry to hear about your husband's passing. I had no idea because in pretty much all your videos I've seen you have the most up beat chipper attitude. You really are an inspiration showing how to move through grief in a positive way by bringing plants to life and maintaining their vivacity over the years. These videos and shorts really keep me going through the hard times. Thanks for all you do Krystal ❤❤❤
Girl! You did it! Thank you for sharing such a difficult time with us. Big hugs! I can the love when you talk about him. For me I talk about my loved ones who pass. keeps them alive. ❤
I have several toxic plants in my collection and I have 3 Yorkies, none of them have ever messed with or shown interest in my plants. They prefer being right next to me rather than sniffing around plants. Now as for soil on the floor…I clean it up as fast as it hits the ground because my oldest yorkie will try to eat the soil. I’m so sorry to hear about your husband. Lifting you up in prayer. I agree with the growing veggies. I tried a few years back and it was tough keeping up with them. I yielded tomatoes but they were so bland 😖 in talking to my friends husband he said tomatoes are very tricky to grow. I can get yummy cherry tomatoes but big full size tomatoes… nope. Now I just focus on my plants. I’ll try again when I have the time to dedicate.
I am a new subscriber and enjoy watching your videos. I actually teared up a bit watching this one. 2022 was a crappy year for me as well. I lost my Mom and my dog. I also quit the best job I ever had to take care of my father who has dementia. There is some good in this, though. I have taken over my Dad's garden and have started a new plant collection. I find solace with my plants and a good a cup of coffee. One day at a time.
Normally, when I watch plant videos, I'll be doing a hundred diferent things while watching / listening. With this video, I just found myself sitting still, completely engaged. Your voice is so soothing. It really was very relaxing!
I found your video today. Watching it was like watching Bob Ross paint. Relaxing, informative, and I'm that much better for myself at the end. Best of luck on your journey. See you at the Depot one day and thank you.❤
You're my favorite youtuber so you keep doing what you doing! I loved this, was so nice to get to know you more! You're such a funny person, you are beautiful and your voice is so calming. Thank you!!!
I’m so sorry for your loss, I lost my husband also in 2021 and it’s been so hard and you are right it does suck. Plants and grandkids keep me busy and the time has gone by so fast. I don’t think I will ever get over it we been together since ‘83. I pray God will give you peace and a blessed life. Love your videos you make me smile.
I lost my wife unexpectedly in 2001, and finding and following you has been cathartic for me. I think you hit on the biggest thing - we keep going because we have no choice but to. Every day, one step in front of the other, because what else are you going to do? US Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman released a poem called "New Day's Lyric" at the end of 2021 as a way of processing everything going on in the world at the time and resetting into 2022 that resonated with me so much that I have an art print of it that I see every single day as a reminder. It begins: May this be the day We come together. Mourning, we come to mend, Withered, we come to weather, Torn, we come to tend, Battered, we come to better. Tethered by this year of yearning, We are learning That though we weren't ready for this, We have been readied by it. We steadily vow that no matter How we are weighed down, We must always pave a way forward.
I too love the feeling I get when I am lost in my plants, nothing else matters or is important for a brief time. I call it “being in the moment” and it is a beautiful and happy place in which to escape ❤️ You are helping many to find their happy place Krystal, well done 🥰
Hey Krystal, what an inspiration to others with how you’ve dealt with ur healing journey. You’re husband was right to encourage you to start this channel, in my opinion, it appears you are in your calling ❤. you bring much joy to the plant community. Also, the display of integrity to respect your husband and his (and ur) private life is quite honorable. so I will say thanks for you, simply doing you. Keep up the great work!
Hi Krystal! I am very sorry about your husbands passing and i 100% respect you wanting privacy. Thank you for all of your advice and sharing your journey. I lost my grandmother less than 3 months ago, and had to put our 17 yo kittie down 4 days ago. It has been very rough trying to find motivation, let alone take care of my plants. This video gave me motivation to keep going, especially with my plants. Everyone here in the comments, and Krystal, you are all in my prayers. ❤
I’m a fellow plant mama! You just popped up in my TH-cam feed and I’m so glad you did! I enjoyed the conversation and it was a perfect video to get to know you a bit. I appreciate your thoughts on the grief process. I like your easy-going attitude about plants. I love that you have your first plant and his name is Walter🥰.
When caring for plants, it is totally an I zone out, and that's why plants are so awesome. I've always loved seeing a plant that needs some love to go from sad to amazing.
Sorry for your loss. And your husband would be proud that you continue your informative funny videos . And thank you for showing us your strength and your humor. You make us laugh and keep a smile on are face Godbless you always
I was so shy about starting my own plant family. My parents and brother are all great growers. They’ve worked and spent time taking care of plants, I felt so intimidated. I love your personality so much and it gave me the confidence to try, now I have 7 plant babies that I’m taking care of ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you for sharing so much about your life, I hope you know you never have to give any information you don't want to but it was really nice to hear about the things you've struggle with in your life. I cannot relate to the grief, but hearing you talk about learning how to live life again is very similar to how I've been feeling. I've never pursued my hobbies to the extent that I am now, and you have been one of the motivators in the plant department for me :) I'm glad to have such a chill and goofy person to learn about houseplants from. I don't know if you have ADHD like me, but you definitely give the best vibes that way. Thanks for being such an inspiration, I can't wait to keep collecting my little green friends!
Your energy is the reason I’ve really been drawn to you and your channel, I really can’t get enough of your videos right now..😅 I’m so glad someone else in Indiana is doing amazing with plants so I feel like I can too, it’s crazy weather here..
I love the longer form videos! I work on the computer and I can't be swiping on shorts while I work, so it's awesome to get my daily dose of plant knowledge from my favorite plant person on my second screen while I work! Thank you for pushing outside of your comfort zone and being vulnerable with us (Although I think it's pretty gross that some people have the callousness to pry into your wounds for sake of their own nosiness. How inhumane of them 😒)
Listening while making breakfast for my kids and then building a moss pole. Thank you for being so real. I lost my youngest daughter to cancer two months ago and my plants have kept me going along with plant TH-cam. I have learned a lot and I have had plants for all my life. Thank you for doing what you do. Glad I found your channels.
You could set up a volunteer activity where the people who want to meet you, also help the community! That makes it less about you and more about helping people/ the planet!
I am new to your channel and firstly I want to say I am so sorry for your loss and secondly you are so sweet and relatable so happy to have found you💚🌸
I really love this long form factor video was able to put it on in the background while I cleaned up my room and took care of my plants very positive energy ❤💖🍄☮️
You are a blessing to so many. My dad passed in 2020 from covid. I’ve always had a few plants but in 2022 it boomed (100+). In my search for plant care tips I started following you. Yesterday I was having an emotional day after dreaming about both my departed parents. This video is what I needed. Thank you so much for the plant tips and emotional support. 🪴💕
You read my comment towards the end (the humor one)! Love this long video but if you are happier with short form, want you to stick with that too. Dealing with grief and some mental stuff right now so just want you to know as much as you say we help you, you help us ♥.
I got into plants when my ex-husband was diagnosed with High Aggressive Malignant Bladder Cancer. My plant 🪴 journey started by me repurposing 2 glass/wooden stands, placing lights under the glass, and I placed plants on them and placed them on the edge of our bed, so the days chemo was rough on his body and he rested in bed he would have the plants to enjoy and look at them. I also had a plan that I thought my life was headed and when it fell apart, I fell apart. My friends/co-workers say, I am strong…I give a goofy look and say, “I don’t see it that way!” I feel lost not knowing where my journey is heading, but I have learned to sigh and just go with the flow of life.
Thank you so much for sharing with all of us! This was great! You are right for respecting your husband and not sharing how that happened; I feel like that is always such a tacky thing to ask, anyway. I appreciate your realness and rawness with all of us and sharing so much that you did. Hearing about your background and so much about you was really, very cool. You have quickly become one of my favorite planty you-tubers so thank you for all of your efforts in putting so much time into your content! 😁
Speaking about outdoor gardening, It takes a lot of stress off by watering by drip. Once it is hooked up it changes everything. I watch Garden Answer and that is where I learned about it and witnessed the advantages. My sister in law gifted me a pretty good size monstera. My very first one. I looked to you for help. I have had 3 new leaves come and with striations on each one. I was so excited. I noticed a new one coming again. I need a better staking system but I wanted to live with it. Thank you for helping me and so many others gain confidence
They have a bunch of decorative aloe plants planted around the buildings on a Hawaiian beach we frequent, they get DIRECT sun most of the day, they all have red ish purple sunkissed tips, so it can happen, but if you want it in direct sun beware and transition SLOWLY I think.
Hi, love your videos, you are a pleasure to be around. I like your quirky fun side, but also your more serious way of answering questions. I think you have a good balance of both. I´m always tempted to use your phrase "drown that h*", but it´s not me, so I normally phrase it differently, but in my head I always hear you :D I live in denmark and we had a planty meeting the other day, and people told me they always kill cactus/succulents in winter and I just look accusatory at them and asked if they watered them, made everyone laugh and then we talked about it a bit more. What you said about not talking about your husband (or other personal details) was really well done. I fully agree with not sharing what you don´t feel comfortable to share and to respect your loved ones and friends boundaries even if they are not with you. I also wouldn´t ask this sort of question, but in general people are curious and there always is someone who will ask, so I wish you all the strength to just say no, I won´t answer this, and hope that people (internet or real world) will accept it.
Such a nice little video! I repotted and potted some monstera deliciosas and did some cleaning in the living room while listening to you chatting. Such a relaxing vibe here. I'd like to thank you for making videos. You're the one who took me from a notorious plant killer to someone with 40+ thriving plants. I've lost a life I used to have in the past year and a half, and getting into plants has really helped with the growing pains.
I can appreciate you knowing when you need a break. I work in mental health and often have had days where I think "I can't show up for them today" and as sad as that makes me, we have to remember that our mental health is important too. I love watching your videos and have learned so much from you. You're doing great :)
Plants bring me happiness and I’m learning as I go along but You are the most joy I have found on you tube ❤ you don’t need to change anything your posts are fabulous. Luv n hugs from Lymm UK 😘
I really enjoy videos like this. It is lovely to sit and enjoy a calming yet upbeat “conversation” regarding not only plants that we all clearly enjoy, but also a glimpse of who you are! Thank you for sharing with us :)
I am sorry 4 ur loss. I think u r doing well & that ur decision 2 honor ur husband's wishes & memory r remarkable. I just think things like r special & private & I'm happy 2 know that I'm not the only one who has that feeling. 🤎 ur channel & ur goofy personality❣
Ur an amazing person i completely understand how the plants bring calm and piece. I lost 3 family members in 2021 and my cousin in 2022. Each passed away 4 months after another. So i understand how hard it is. But you are amazing, careing and love the energy you bring. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh my! Hello from San Fernando Valley!🌻 Gracias por compartir. I know it’s very difficult to do that. Mis más sentido pésame. Sigue siendo tan linda!🥰 Sigue adelante. Keep strong 💪🏼 I had learned from you so so much.🪴🌵🌱 I found you a while ago during Covid trying to find something to do. I used to say I had a Black thumb 👍🏼, not even brown one, Not anymore 😂. My daughter saw a new leaf coming out my Monstera deliciosa and said, Mom you have a taquito coming. We both laughed. I didn’t know she was following you. I only have FB and TH-cam. I was so so happy when you said your mama was from Guatemala 🇬🇹 I’m from Guatemala 🎉. Saludos Chapines❤ Te mando Un grand abrazo 🤗 con mucho cariño 💐, Miriam
I cried when you talked about your husband. My mother passed away in 2020 and it was life changing: quit my job, became self-employed, got to know a new me and even believe in God now. I leaned on close family and a journal (I would literally write letters to my mother and it gave me a great sense of peace). Thank you for this video !! 🙃
I love this video so much! Please don't push yourself to be perfect for TH-cam. It's a torturous mentality. I look forward to seeing more long form videos ❤🎉 and thanks for sharing all that you do. ❤
I have always wanted a fiddle leaf fig but was always scared to try it out because of what other people usually say.. But then I bought a super small one from the grocery store for $7 and put it in an East window, and it has been steadily growing ever since! I water it pretty much once a week. I think it's just easier to start from a baby one! 🌿🪴💚
All we need to know is a question youve already answered... He IS a good man. You wouldn't look like you wanna smile and cry so hard everytime you talk about him if it werent true. You're making him proud, and you aren't going through life alone, i promise. None of us really are ❤ ive never commented on anything you've put up, i just watch. But i felt rhe overwhelming need to communicate this to you. Youre awesome girl 😎❤
I love that you're just hanging out here ❤ not that you're not working, but it seems like you're more comfortable with the long form, and getting more relaxed with it as you go 😊 💜
I have just found you recently and think you’re great. I am 70 and have gone through some major life changes within the past year and have found myself buying plants. I only have about 10 right now but find myself looking for more and before I bring one home I try to do my homework on their care. That’s how I found you!! Thank you for all your help and I’m looking forward to learning a lot from you!
I was so happy to see you post this video. My plants have helped keep me sane and happier since 2018. That year will forever feel like the darkest loss year of my life. I still go plant shopping after a stressful day to cheer myself up. Hugs to you Krystal from Texas!❤
Days where im sad or missing my dad , he passed in 2019 from cancer...your words are very comforting help alot. You help me learn so much about plants.
I’m so so proud of you for being able to get through hard times. I can’t even imagine the pain you went through but you got through it AND you can talk about it! You are so amazing and inspiring. I’ve only been here for a little bit but I can already tell I’m going to love it. Thank you for being so amazing and being you. ❤❤
Thank you for sharing how you are dealing with your grief. I lost my mom (my best friend) in 2019. It would be hard for me to get up every morning and just exist. Hearing you give yourself that “just get up and keep moving forward” gave me a little push I needed.
I love this, sometimes short form videos make me very anxious like I want all the details show me everything don't flash me with a different scene each second (your videos are actually quite chill)
Krystal, I found your channel recently and you’ve really become one of my favorite TH-camrs. I normally hate short-form videos, but I find yours hilarious. Would really love more long-form videos from you! This Q&A was really awesome. Thank you for sharing your plant knowledge and being really vulnerable and candid about the personal things. Wishing you the best in your healing. I lost a loved one in 2021 and it was such a dark time. I’m glad you’re taking care of yourself and continue to through grief therapy! Keep the great content coming - and excited to see what 2024 has in store for you!
If you struggle with ideas for a full TH-cam video (10-15 mins) do TH-cam polls! We would love to give you ideas on what we wanna see! Love your videos sm 💕
What someone called goofy ,or asked if youve always been goofy,,i see you as ,funny as he%#,your humorous and it brightwns many of our lives .So i hope that you dont take "goofy "as a bad thing.Your very beautiful,so smart intelligent and funny as heck.

Thank you for responding about my friend's grandmother's plant. Neither she nor I know what it was. However she plans to take your advice about choosing a medium, probably perlite, and seeing if she can bring that baby back. ❤

Also, the display of integrity to respect your husband and his (and ur) private life is quite honorable. so I will say thanks for you, simply doing you. Keep up the great work!
I feel the same about plants. I wish I was able to play with them all day. Brings me such peace and joy. Thank you for sharing....
Yay! Long form! I've been seeing all your Shorts and think I need a longer video!
😅
When caring for plants, it is totally an I zone out, and that's why plants are so awesome. I've always loved seeing a plant that needs some love to go from sad to amazing.
Mesh pads so the soil doesn’t fall out of the drainage hole is so smart!!!
Sorry for your loss. And your husband would be proud that you continue your informative funny videos . And thank you for showing us your strength and your humor. You make us laugh and keep a smile on are face Godbless you always
A 1 hour Krystal video? I’m on it.
I was so shy about starting my own plant family. My parents and brother are all great growers. They’ve worked and spent time taking care of plants, I felt so intimidated. I love your personality so much and it gave me the confidence to try, now I have 7 plant babies that I’m taking care of ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you so much! I’m happy you’re here. I’m glad I could be a part of your plant journey and horray for new babies 🥹
You are a beautiful person! You make me enjoy plants, and I’m loving it. 😊 ❤
Thank you so much 🫶🏽 happy you’re here and I appreciate your kindness so much!
Thank you for all of your videos. I’ve binged them all. ❤
That really means so much! Thank you!
❤
This was sooo fun and informative. Thank you. I look forward to seeing your long form videos when you are ready to do them.
You could set up a volunteer activity where the people who want to meet you, also help the community! That makes it less about you and more about helping people/ the planet!
I love that idea so much!!!!
I love the love that you still show for your husband even since he's passed on!
Thank you so much for your vulnerability!! ❤️❤️ you are awesome and I love all your videos - short or long!! 😊
I love the way you talk to yourself I feel like if I talk to myself a similar way it would help me get through life 🍄💖☮️
The way we speak to ourselves speaks volumes to how to function. Self love always 🫶🏽
Do a week in the life of your daily plant check-in. Xoxo
Girl u r strong. Your right it’s not important how he passed. What’s important is how you are and how u keep his memory alive in u
Krystal, you do not owe anybody an explanation about your personal life. Stay Strong, My heart goes out to you 💚 I love your channel!!!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you being here and for your kindness!
Ur an amazing person i completely understand how the plants bring calm and piece. I lost 3 family members in 2021 and my cousin in 2022. Each passed away 4 months after another. So i understand how hard it is. But you are amazing, careing and love the energy you bring. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
That was an amazing video today, you are a fantastic young woman and I love your plant advice, love from very cold Dublin 🇮🇪
I loved watching this video, you are an incredible human being and I understand sharing what you can or want to share. ❤
Oh my!
Hello from San Fernando Valley!🌻
Gracias por compartir.
I know it’s very difficult to do that. Mis más sentido pésame. Sigue siendo tan linda!🥰
Sigue adelante. Keep strong 💪🏼
I had learned from you so so much.🪴🌵🌱
I found you a while ago during Covid trying to find something to do.
I used to say I had a Black thumb 👍🏼, not even brown one, Not anymore 😂.
My daughter saw a new leaf coming out my Monstera deliciosa and said,
Mom you have a taquito coming. We both laughed. I didn’t know she was following you. I only have FB and TH-cam.
I was so so happy when you said your mama was from Guatemala 🇬🇹
I’m from Guatemala 🎉.
Saludos Chapines❤
Te mando Un grand abrazo 🤗 con mucho cariño 💐, Miriam
I love how you said "function" that's about all I've done for 3 years now!!!
I am SO excited to get home and watch this while i take care of my plants and chill!
I’ve learned so much from you & grateful for your dedication in this planty journey.. 🙏🏼😊😘
I truly enjoyed this video.
I love that you're just hanging out here ❤ not that you're not working, but it seems like you're more comfortable with the long form, and getting more relaxed with it as you go 😊 💜
It’s definitely getting better as I post! I’m glad it’s coming out that way on screen too! Thank you!
Your goofy personality is part of why I love you!!! Edit: so many hugs.
Omg I just remembered I asked “how are you”!!!❤️
Thank you for sharing how you are dealing with your grief. I lost my mom (my best friend) in 2019. It would be hard for me to get up every morning and just exist. Hearing you give yourself that “just get up and keep moving forward” gave me a little push I needed.
Cacti definitely set boundaries!
You're just such an inspiration. Thank you so much
Thank you so much for being here.

Chilling w you SO much that I just switched from my phone to my 52" TV to watch & listen as I'm doodling ideas for cover of upcoming local cookbook!
Thank you for responding about my friend's grandmother's plant. Neither she nor I know what it was. However she plans to take your advice about choosing a medium, probably perlite, and seeing if she can bring that baby back. ❤
Keep us updated if you can! Excited to hear about the journey
You are one of those people who are like sunshine. The way you are has a special way of brightening people’s days. I value and appreciate that 😊
