  • Jean combines thread, clay & found objects to make dramatic 3D figurative sculptures based on the theme ‘The Nep of Life’. She works as an art therapist and as a Lecturer in Theraputic Arts at the University of Derby. Jean looks at ‘neps’ or irregularities in life and turns them on their head - from being something that might be uncomfortable into something to accept and embrace. She uses her art to capture ‘imperfections’ or experiences for people she is supporting. Filmed at the Knitting & Stitching Show 2019, Alexandra Palace.

It’s always exciting when an Arnold’s attic video is in my notification list and this was another excellent story. Loved the faces . Art therapy is fantastic. I agree that art practice is a firm of self care.

Stunning. Your work touches me deeply. I love the contrast of hard and soft, threads unbound. Thank you for sharing your powerful and amazing work.
