I know you’re not in love with the kick on the bowl… but to think, two hours before it was laying on the ground. A vision brought it to life again. I love it. Well done Erik.

Nice to see someone working with a natural piece of wood that anyone can get a hold of. Even better is the work looking good and not being symetrical and "perfect". Great job.

I like it!….even though it looks like some of the wooden spoons at our house that accidentally got put in the dishwasher! 😀

@@ENCurtis @ENCurtis @ENCurtis so, full disclosure, I've watched a bunch of spoon carving videos on yt. Really enjoyed your predominantly design based insights. I'd only really considered a hand carved spoon as a functional object but of course it's a sculptural process too. Overwhelmingly so you might say. And looking for the form in the wood to 'reveal itself over time' wasn't something I'd thought about before. Spoon came out great 👍

So many "spooning" jokes missed. How did you resist to urge?! Just a mention at the beginning, "We're making a spoon today...so come spoon with me my friends." I know it's low hanging fruit but COME ON, man! lol Great video...one of the best.

Lovely video man. Nicely paced and very clear. As a hobbyist it’s nice to see a fun little project that you can do in your spare time with relatively little equipment (and a bit of practice). I also like the way you let the wood inform the design

Very nice spoon (video, too). The things you were fussing about, the twist, the curve, the angle, those are the things that make the spoon beautiful. Straight clear wood makes a very boring spoon. I have carved several dozen spoons and spatulas, opting for interesting (difficult) pieces of wood most of the time it seems. Some are beautiful surprises and some are no quite useable. All were fun to make.

I enjoyed watching the transition from raw to refined. It turned out like a semi ladle, i like the character that the curvature part in the handle adds. The initial shape could've also turned into a nice back scratcher as well 😊

Interesting subject. Did you know at Marine mountain survival School the trainees carve a spoon and bowl as first thing? They are prizes. I am trying to remember but another thing was killing a rabbit. Strange but a guy who is cool with fighting humans may not want to kill an animal. I had never seen an animal killed until the service

Best way is to get green wood and use carving tools this way you don't have to mess with dust and it goes a lot quicker. Not a fam of this type of spoon making.

Hello Eric. Love your creativity. I love to do art stuff with bricks. Would it be ok to use some of your videos on my channel on yt and fb? I will leave you a credit. Stu.

Guys with beards would complain about beard dent when wearing masks during the pandemic. I laugh because we been dealing with beard dents from woodworking with mask for years 😅
