    Thanks for this great video, I did one room a year ago with great success and am watching it again to remind me before doing another two rooms. I got the kit from B & Q which was cheaper than other shops and well worth it now I will use it for 3 rooms. Got my carpet cheap/free by buying off cuts / second hand. I could have paid £100s more to get the professionals to do it but I honestly think it looks great and was not that hard to do thanks to helpful tutorials like this. It's a shame so many comments are negative. It's a pretty simple job.

    Spent the morning laying carpet in the lads bedroom. I watched the videos as a refresher. Only comments is to not shuffle when wearing rubber soled slippers - they leave a mark!!! and to have lots of utility blades are they go dull fast. I didn't use a kit or a kicker, but used a bolster chisel and a stiff wide scraper. Came out really good.

      Terry so how did you stretch the carpet ?

    • @terry6131
      @terry6131 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@lukebanks2895 I changed into shoes and shuffled / hopped with both feet into the edges and corners. It's not perhaps as stretched as it could have been with a kicker, however as the bedroom is small there is little visible carpet once the bed / cupboards / wardrobe etc have been put back.
      If I were planning on lots of carpet fitting I would now get a kicker - and knee pads

      @@japfan8161 not everyone has a spare £40+ quid for the tools, many moons ago I used the same shuffling method and it was more than enough to make it last for 4+ years atleast, aslong as you aren't regularly moving large items this is more than enough for a budget DIY job. It could also easily be restreched a few years later if the person gets some soare money or finds a friend with a stretcher.

      @dwayne_dibley ปีที่แล้ว

      @@karl810indeed. The carpets I’m currently replacing were fitted by my father ~38 years ago. He didn’t use a kicker and they didn’t ripple in all that time despite having furniture dragged all over them. However I was given a kicker, plus they’re a lot less than £40 from uncle Jeffy B.

      Hi, Tommy. Thanks for your question. The grippers go into the back of the carpet but they shouldn't appear through the top. If they come through the top, this suggests the carpet is thin or no underlay has been used. Hope that helps 😄
