    You should do these type of episodes again with different tractors/people. It was great seeing how others would attack the same thing. As always it was a great video. Huge thanks to Cristy for all she does for the best shot!!!

    It’s been interesting and informative to see the different machines in action on the tower project. It gives folks a real look at how the equipment can be used in their own situation. Looking forward to seeing the bigger Brush Mulcher in action. Kudos to Christy. She does great work and is a real trooper! Blessings to you both.

    Front mounted mower is where its at! Ran a 110hp 40gpm high flow skid steer with one and it does very well and even cuts grass acceptably.

  • @kapperoutdoors
    @kapperoutdoors 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Another nice video Tim, and Hey! You are getting the land clearing done too! LOL. Nice to see more and more tractor solutions coming out to compete with skid steers! After having mowed with tractor fixed mowers, tractor batwings and skid steer front mowers, there are a lot of advantages in being able to mow in the FRONT of a tractor as opposed to a rear mower. A lot less beating on the under side of the tractor (hydraulic lines, electrical lines, etc). Excellent demo! Thanks.

    Wow, that mower was nice! Imagine that mower with chains instead of blades, or like the back mulcher that Tim has on his in front like that, the floating of it was simple but effective too, well, sure pricey but it did a very,very tough job that I did not think that it would even come close to, thanks for showing us all these things!

    Thank You for this segment. I am buying a small farm needing some rescue. Nowhere could I have found this information for brush clearing. This segment is going to save me thousands of dollars. I was going to rent. This equipment will do it. I am talking both types.

    • @rgd2598
      @rgd2598 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same here. We bought 26 acres last year. Over half is overgrown and heavy underbrush. To pay someone with forest mulcher to clear this would be more expensive than buying this attachment. When done, I can do some of this for extra income.... or sell and get a big chunk of my money back. I doubt I sell. Lol

  • @DLTJR1959
    @DLTJR1959 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    2 points.
    Tires and hydraulic flow.
    1. Tires. I've brushed hogged a lot and have had tire issues with every tractor I've used when hogging heavy growth. That front mounted hog IMHO may present issues with tires. When I hog I go in one direction only. Don't think that's possible with a front mounted cutter cutting heavy material.
    2. Hydraulic flow was almost non-existent in older tractors. My father and I hauled round bales with a little 861 Ford Powermaster and factory Ford FEL. You had to use a PTO pump to get that unit to work properly. Same issues as now except it is 40 years later. But... That cutter requires a lot of hydraulic pressure. Those old tractors like the 861 were not really designed for FEL use as well as today's compact tractors are. Today's compact tractors are well designed for FEL use but are not designed for the extreme hydraulic flow requirements of skid steer implements and attachments.
    Thank you Tim for your contribution here on TH-cam. Great informative videos. I appreciate it.

    That is what it is all about. Enjoying the project. Not being burden of it. Both machines did a great job. Really great job. And you were comfortable. That is the challenge. To have a machine that can be capable of doing the project and for the operator to be comfortable to operate the equipment. Blue, orange, green , or red. Does not matter it is what the operator wants to make the machine comfortable and project efficient. User friendly I guess ya call it. Great comparing aspect. They really got it done efficiently and safely. Great job on this project and ya all had fun I think I that even Christy had fun with the cameras and the drone. Have a great day and weekend

    That Brush Mower may be expensive with the power pack needed but the amount of work it does it tremendous. Just like a forestry mower on a skid steer but you don't need the skid steer. Going back with you stump grinder may be all you need since they don't need taken below grade for the stumps

    Worked at a JD dealer ship they had the hyd packs for sweepers and snow blowers I think for mowing if doing a lot I would want a tractor with front three point hitch and a flail mower or a skidsteer with this mower type or a flail also if I was using this setup I'd install a bumper on tje front edge to push material forward to keep it off the top of the mower

    This is interesting because I have one of these power packs for sale on Equipment trader. The one I have has a 72" snow blower with it and it's still crated. I bought this unit as a package with a 110TLB John Deere. The add will expire 6/26/2020. I wanted the 110 and where I live there's not a lot of snow.

    Building one of these for my GC1723; except I’m mounting it under the tractor and powering it off of the 2000 RPM PTO (I don’t have a mid-mount mower). I’m going to use it to power an old 48” Deere lawn tractor deck, attached to the FEL, for getting under stuff & down a few banks here (I’ve got a bad back and can’t use a weed whacker for any length of time).

    I’ve rented a Bobcat skid steer with the front-forks mounted, hydraulic bush hog and it spoiled me. Even though I now have a compact (2038R), I’ll probably still rent the Bobcat combo to do my one acre a couple of times/year. Not enough use to justify the expense of buying my own rear PTO brush hog (even over time) and it’s one less thing to store. But that big monster on the New Holland is the “Mac Daddy” of brush hogs: WOW! 💪
    Thanks also for the chat about CVT; interesting for non-AG types like me.

    On the skid steer mulchers /brush mowers they have a large 6" dia pressure gauge the operator can see to help gauge the load on the cutter head since it definitely can be hard to hear it pull the cutter head down in RPMs. It's all in an effort of heat. Does the power pack have any way to trigger a high oil temp to the operator?

    I wonder is there a front 3pt and pto version of this? Do compacts and subcompacts ever come with a front pto and 3pt? I just don’t like all the friction / heat losses you get with hydraulics. You can hear how long it takes the mower to come back up to speed after a big hit. It sure is a lot gentler on the tractor though.

      I would love to try that mowing the grass field I am doing with a 6' flail.
      How does that mower do in wet grass?
      The questions I have.

      @@Drew6709 I have never tried it in wet grass but have cleared stuff tall as the cab . Would probley do fine as it is designed for both brush and grass I touch the blade edges up after heavy brush work so its ready for the next time.

      @@glenncollins1417 heard your mower is a 66". Do you think it would handle a 72"? I have a 42 hp Kubota (open station with canopy) which has roughly 37.5 pto hp. (18 3/4). I do a lot of mowing for hire during the summer. Curious if this might be worth saving for. I'd rather have a track loader to put the tractor at home.

      That's the only reason why they do advertising - to keep plugging your ears with it. Don't believe the news, cause all they do is lie. I don't need no programming, telling me what to buy. Oh I believe, I believe the truth will set you free. I believe the truth will set you free.

    I think you'd like that shifter where it is if you were running the loader. How would you operator the loader controls and change directions both with your right hand? Going hands free for a second at low speed gets both things done and keeps you moving.

      But a switch on the loader joystick would be even nicer. Just move it with your thumb!

    You need a hydraulic tank to keep that oil cool, it's just not economical for guys to have tractors with 30 gallon hydraulic oil capacity, would make maintenance alot more costly so then people probably wouldn't do it as often.

    Absolutely awesome video Tim!! This proves that I would benefit from this setup! I am looking at a high flow version.
    It requires between 80-150 PTO hp but can run both low flow 25GPM and hi flow at 35GMP.
    Definitely the route I want to take.
    What implements still use either 750 or 1,000 rpm PTO these days?

    • @emerkamp1
      @emerkamp1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's 540 and 1,000. Most bigger farm tools run 1,000. The shaft is bigger with more splines. We have a Case 16 row planter with 1,000 rpm for the planters hydro pump. I think he said this tractor only had 40 hp @ the pto.

    I really like this cutter but I think it needs to be able to cut at any height just like the skid steers. my kioti RX 7320 is factory rated just under 20 gallons per minute on its hydraulics. no need for a PTO driven pump
