They did not fail. Conservative comedy works differently than normal comedy. Shop teacher Birchum used to be a sketch Adam Corolla did for radio. Every episode was basically him telling some farcical story as to how he got injured the day before taping. From what I remember, the sketches were apolitical and made Birchum come across like a know-it-all, Boomer dickhead who routinely blew his own face off or lost a toe. I remember the sketches being actually funny. It looks like this animated show went in a different direction.
Take this with a grain of salt because I haven't fact checked it, but I heard that so many western animated shows have this same style because it's cheap to make.
