you guys are right, hockey is too damn expensive! I'm just glad that I live in Minnesota, we don't have to play the AAA and Academy game. You are kind of stuck where you live but the leagues are solid. The MN Model, community based nonprofit, volunteer ran associations, produces a lot of high end players, so the system seems to work and is affordable. I'm not a huge fan of these private leagues as I feel like they just drive the price of the sport up and up. The cost of hockey is going to be its downfall

In MN thru high schools you guys do it right, this 30-50k a year to shelter kids in an academy is so stupid! Kid eventually has to come out! WHL draft is a big crap shoot at 14-15 then kids signing and gambling on future and missing out on ncaa and an education is even crazier unless your a phenom! The rules with CHL and NCAA are going to change! A WHL kid is done at 18-20 some NCAA kids are just starting!
Varsity u15-17 in the CSSHL are just a money grab for FOMO parents sheltering their lil super stars!

Time on ice doesn’t equate to more development! Your top players are going to play in AAA! The CSSHL gets lots of FOMO parents or I’ll show those WHL scouts their wrong about my kid! Hockey parents love to be sold something!

My daughter is in U13, and her edges are great. Her shot is impeccable. She fast but her hockey sense and stick handling is lacking. Shes very coachable and ive coached her until now i decided id get another coach to see if she can grow. She was cut from AA because of it. Theres a huge skill gap between AA and A in our area. It's upsetting because How does she grow to see 4 steps ahead? I've tried and tried, but there's just not enough time on the ice before it gets lost or confusing.
