R.I.P. Mercury Morris!!! My condolences goes out to his family and friends who have dearly loved him over the years and looked up to him as a Dolphins legend. He was part of the 1972 Miami Dolphins undefeated team who is a legend and a Hall of Famer. Thanks for everything!!!!
He is sadly not in the HoF, likely due to his criminal record. RIP to one of the greats though, my dad has been a Dolphins fan since the 70s and he loved telling me stories of the guys they had in the 70s.
Spent many days & nights talking to Mercury Morris in Florida City 1983.. Sending my condolences to the family,, Gone but never fogotten!! Just spoke of Mercury Morris on TH-cam Chad Marks!! RIP My old friend Gone but never forgotten!!🙏💪❤️💯 #22
My dad liked Mercury and We were New England Patriots fans, would always say Mercury Morris was the greatest running back of his time, better the the juice and walter payton... Nobody could recover yardage from nothing like Morris!! God Bless this man for efforts on the field and his contribution after football to the youth of Miami
I'm a Tom Landry-era Dallas Cowboys fan. What a great team the early '70s Miami Dolphins had.... offence AND defense. That offensive backfield with Bob Griese, Earl Morrall, Murcury Morris, Larry Csonka, and Jim Kiick was unbelievably strong and so fun to watch. Murcury most definitely one of my favorite "enemy" players. R. I. P. MURCURY 22 🏈 MORRIS God bless our pro football heroes from a by-gone era 🏈
Absolutely… there is a wealth of great football lost to the ages. Even moments that make us look back, like to NFL 100 All Time team doesn’t give us what we need to know. We need videos like this, and Joe Perry, James Wilder, Chuck Muncie, Hugh McElhenny, Freeman McNeil… and MORE!!!
Yeah there are so many great players in the history of the NFL that some get forgotten, lost to history. Hopefully this channel can get these guys that recognition.
GREAT compilation that included his TD playing for the Chargers in 1976. I remember seeing that particular TD highlight at halftime of a Monday Night Game when Howard Cossell would show the best plays of Sunday’s NFL games.
Dolphins been my favorite team since I was a kid. Glad I got to see them win two Superbowls. No dolphins team has come close to this team. rip mercury 😞
When my family moved to FIU in 72 tech 71 we got season ticket to the games through the college. I used to love watching Morris run every once in a while you got to see him leap. A total ballet move. He is the reason a lot of famous football players now take ballet. He was beautiful to watch running.
Moved to Miami in 1966 and of course easy to grow to love the Miami Dolphins as a 10yr kid . Dad taking me to the Orange Bowl and in my senior yr of high school playing in the Orange Bowl and sitting in the Dolphins lockers was once in a lifetime . My nickname when I ran during street football was Mercury lol.
I was more of a Paul Warfield fan being a Cleveland Browns fan, but I remember those early 70s Dolphins teams very well. Mercury Morris was a big part of that ground attack that also featured Fullback Larry Csonka and Halfback Jim Kiick. Larry Csonka is the only running back still alive from that undefeated team, because Jim Kiick died in 2020.
He was one of the greatest at keeping his balance and running at impossible angles ! I thought Gordon Bell of 1970 s Michigan was best at this but I see Bell had a predecessor !
As an 8 year old boy growing up in Iowa, somehow I became a Miami Dolphins fan. Maybe the team winning two Super Bowls had something to do with it, but it was also the players. They seemed larger life. Larry Csonka (how could you be anything other than a fullback with a name like Csonka?) Jim Kiick (you don't see many names with a double i) Paul Warfield. Bob Griese. Nick Bouniconti. And of course, Mercury Morris. I think I vaguely understood "Mercury" wasn't really his first name. At first I didn't understand the Greek/Roman God connection, and yet watching him play I came to understand "Mercury" must refer to something fast and elusive. He'd get the handoff from Griese and the next thing you know he's zigging, zagging, and zooming past helpless defenders. That's how it was for a couple years anyway, until he was injured. RIP, Eugene.

RIP Mercury Morris of Undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins. HOFer GOAT and Legend. Will always love and miss him.

@Maximillian200HP I'd vote him in. We've all sinned in life and he overcame worst shit to become indestructible

I remember him when i used to hang out at his house with Maceo in his South Miami home. super nice family.
Did they all do blow, or just Merc?
He and Csonka were my favorites when I was little kid.
Before those two, my favorite duo were Theismann & Gatewood for The Irish
I could’ve written this comment!

Once upon a time when the Dolphins were an elite team, Morris was a huge part of the success. RIP.
RIP Mercury Morris.
Use to pretend I was him as a kid. Have a photo to this day with me wearing his jersey. RIP
RIP Mercury!!

RIP Merc. May your wings spread in heaven…🪽🏈👊🏾❤️
Mercury Morris was an electric, speedy back who can hurt these defenders by making them miss and his cutback style

Merc, Zonk, Kick, and Griese......MIAMI
I can remember the excitement because we knew if merc got one opening he was gone.
RIP EUGENE MERCURY MORRIS
Are there any survivors left of the 72 team
I think Larry Csonka is still alive, I don’t know of anyone else
There are many left.
1972 played offense and defense same players😮
RIP
