Black and darkness and death, it all makes sense until you really think---- it's a really clever swap because it works both ways. Out of all things associated with the Evil Witch, Raven was picked-- which matched Snow White even better than Apple.

@@paintbox3011 deep down in a show like Ever After I have always loved this but I know it is quite literal it is no Avatar characters usually say exactly what they mean on here.
What if they weren't switched at birth? What if their destinies are actually swapped? Raven queen becomes the next snow white and apple white becomes the next evil queen. Apple is pressured for being the fairest of them all because that's what her destiny is supposed to be. A real snow white is selfless and humble and is beautiful not just because of her looks, but because of how good her heart it. Apple white just plays the act of being fair. Raven is good from the heart and soul and is all about doing the right thing. Eventually, if my theory is true, Apple white could then ask who's the fairest of them all and then get in shock that Raven is the fairest. She would get jealous because she wants that destiny and truly believes she should be the fairest one as she's the daughter of snow white. She would then poison Raven to take back what she believes is hers without realizing that she became the evil queen and had basically killed her best friend.
Oh my god I love this theory. And it kinda fits too, Apple IS kinda vain, she even has her own magic mirror that tells her she's the fairiest. We've seen how desperate she can be to prove her destiny, going so far as freeing the Evil Queen and going through with her plans just to claim her destiny. We know that she already kinda accepted Raven's choice after Dragon Games, but if there comes a time when the Magic Mirror claims someone fairier than her, thereby taking away her only remaining claim as the next Snow White, there's no saying she won't be desperate to claim that title again.

@@saltygamer6453 Yes it did sadly. Years ago. It was around the time Descendants was made that this happened. I think there's some theory stating that it got cancelled because of Disney's descendants or something. Not really sure about that part.

I think Apple knows that she is not the true daughter of Snow White, and this explains her strong adherence to following her destiny
Maybe it's her inner instinct too, evil characters in fairytales usually have strong survival instincts. And since Happily Ever After as Snow White means an absolute win for her, she won't pass up the opportunity!
I think she knows that she's not a true snow white and that's why she wants raven to sighn the book so she never finds out and won't be able to be snow white because she would of sighn her destiny away

Also one of the charming's couldn't help but falling in love with Raven. Keep in mind multiple versions are about Prince Charming are in multiple fairytales. Also Daring Charming fell in love with the queen of heart in a episode. In conclusion nobody really likes Apple White.
Also, on Epic Winter, wasn't Daring revealed to be next Beast? Since he got cursed by the Snow King, then bonded with Rosabella during that time, leading him to be more empathetic for others, meaning that Daring was never the prince for Apple, no one is.... Although there was that thing with Darling, but it being love born of friendship doesn't seem right, and the situations don't quite match since it was a forced destiny and not something that happened naturally like Daring's did.

There’s actually a LOT of references to Ever After High in 13 wishes. When they’re cleaning the attack, you see Snow White’s poison apple, the mad hatter’s hat, and the evil queens magic mirror.

And when clawdeens little sister cleaned a smudge off the mirror her, she for a second had weird dark eyes (watch the movie to understand) and then she knocks the mirror away, and this is never actually mentioned again in the rest of the movie and I so badly want at least a movie abt them graduating
This makes so much sens, especially when we consider that in the Dragon games the evil queen adamantly picked Apple to be on her team, forcing snow white to pick Raven

1)When i first heard this through i genuinely believe snow white herself traded them because evil queen loves raven sm whether she's evil or not like that woman went back into the mirror for her so I don't think in any of these theories she's a main factor to the swap because of she knew raven wasn't her daughter she'd probably hate her as much. however snow white has all these expectations of apples because of the swap so that when her stats start decreasing at school she's like so infuriated at it because she wants her daughter to be the best and the way she treats apple in a way that she doesn't completely love her like she's just a model of what she wants the next queen to be- she never treats her like a daughter but a project
2) also raven doesn't have a bad bone in her body like she can only ever be bad when she signed the storybook and became literally possessed but apple she is selfish and arrogant and does what she wants for her means and not for anyone else like I think the only reason why apple even acts good is because that's what's expected of her and she'll follow her destiny to the T

There's actually a book in the series that mentions the real reason Apple wants to follow her destiny. Apparently, as a little girl she stumbled into an unmarked well and nearly fell to her death. The castle folk found and saved her, but from that day forward, Apple became focused on her destiny because it's all preplanned, basically, a set path that's pre-determined, so she never has to worry or fear the unknown (like falling to an unexpected death) again.
I still think she is kind of selfish. She cares only about herself not her friends.
I feel like the books give a lot more depth to our protagonists in general. Raven seems more selfish in the show tbh, her reason for not signing it being just her own destiny (which is fine, but not heroic yk? Usually protagonists in series like this are shown in a more speaking-for-the-people light.) in the book, she plans to sign despite her own disdain for her future (and she only hates her future because she's horrified at the idea of trying to kill someone) but thanks to Maddie, she notices how a large group of people in the school don't want to sign it either but are also hesitating. She decides, after much consideration over if it will end the world or not, to abstain from signing the book to inspire others not to do so.
And Apple, in the show, is only worried about her story and brings up "we're gonna go poof!" like a broken record, being totally unhelpful and unconvincing. Meanwhile, in the story, it's shown that no royalty has ever had to deal with a conflict outside of their fairytale, meaning that it's basically ingrained in royalty to just trust their destinies. Plus, Headmaster Grimm actually tells her that the world will go poof, and instead of arguing with Raven, she works tirelessly and breaks the rules to go on journeys with Raven to see the truth of whether or not it will break the world (in the hopes that it will convince Raven to sign). She's not a bad person, maybe slightly selfish, but honestly I'd say her upbringing is to blame for her sticking to the Storybook
Raven's speech about following *her own* destiny...comes from having felt pressured to follow an *automatically assigned* destiny (instead of her own). Others in the same episode did not seem to care nearly as much about whether their destinies were truly *their own* or not. That was presumably part of Raven's point, which was mainly about, follow *your own* destiny.
You can create your own destiny.
Was basically the whole point, not only of that episode, but of the entire show overall if you really think about it.
I always considered Apple’s morality and motivations were very selfish, like yeah while she was afraid of everyone “puffing” and she even says that she basically accepts her destiny because of that, but of course!! That’s easy to say than done when your destiny is so full of fame and royal power, am i right?
While Raven on the other hand, she was always willing to sacrifice her chance to write her own happily ever after for the sake of keeping her friends (including Apple) safe and sound. As any actual good character would do this characteristic is noticeable in many parts of the show like in the queen of hearts episode when she signs the book to be able to help stop the joker girl

She is only willing to sign the storybook of legends because she doesn't want anything bad happening to her friends like in throngcoming or how she faked her mother. Ok, what I’m about to say is gonna sound very strange. But what if this is also the reason the Monster World and the Fairytale World are separated. Because if you think about it, in each world it’s both essentially the children of popular characters going to school. So what if Milton Grimm found out about Whisp and what had happened, so he got someone with a mass amount of power (Baba Yaga? The previous Evil Queen?) to separate the two schools into separate worlds to prevent anything like this happening again. We’ve also seen something similar to this in Way Too Wonderland (not essentially the same thing but very similar). And much like Wonderland, they kept one portal open to allow the ‘wonder’ to flow through the Fairytale World to the Monster World. And then the finale would be the two worlds coming together again. Idk, this seemed to make sense to me when I was writing it, idk if it makes sense to you :))

It sounds kinda logical, but i have only one question: when baba yaga (баба яга) became the evil queen? I mean, she is part of russian folklore and she is litteral Death (she has bone-leg "костяная нога"(kostyanaya noga), what means what she is with one leg in a grave and her house "избушка на курьих ножках"(izbushka na kur'ih nozkah) here we need to talk about the etymology of "курьих"(kur'ih), its mean not "chicken" but "окуренный"(okurenniy) what has the english translating and means "fumigated" what in this situation is the part of kind of ritual for all houses with dead bodies inside (to prevent animals to eat them cause of strong smell of herbs). I have heard all of these from the childhood (russian, was born in Krasnogvardeyskoe, spend the rest of my life in central russia, so probably heard the rest of folklore stories like these), but i have never saw parallel between The Evil Queen and Baba Yaga. Where did you saw that?

I would love this theory to be true! At the end they all unite as a whole despite being so different but at the same time so similar. I really wish they could revive the story to end it this way
I'm so confused when Apple said she's going to be the next Snow White when she has blonde hair, and her lack of character growth. She also lacks genuine empathy, she's more obsessed on how people thinks of her than she thinks about the well-being of the people, she's nothing like Snow White at all. Then you have Raven. We never get to see the dwarves too (idk about that, I haven't watch the series for a while now), we might see them getting closer with Raven than they are with Apple. Come to think of it, Apple is kinda judgemental, it take plenty of days for her to get along with the dwarves if she ever meets them.
In the "Dragon Games", Snow White isn't as wholesome as everyone makes her out to be either.

Good point... I've always wondered why despite being selfless and kind, she is far more vain & obsessed with her own tale than Raven Queen. And if there is one thing the Evil Queen is known to be, is she is vain and always loved to be powerful. In a way, it kinda works. Raven is an empowered Snow White, the Snow White that is kind & always wishes to help & be free despite what others say about her, unlike Apple White who may be an Entitled Evil Queen... They already did this with the O' Hair Twins and in the end, they might have already fulfilled their
destinies. It is fun to think that what makes the frameworks Evil Queens & Snow Whites are their environment & how they are raised.
Edit: Regarding to the Way Too Wonderland Arc, I think Evil Queen's Bloodline & Apple's Blood Line is integrated or connected (their Fairytale shows being connected to one Charming). It is said only one from the Evil Queen's Bloodline can be broken. Although Apple can be feasible, it is useless as she cannot do magic, only Raven the trained Evil Queen can. But if this theory can be proven true, in its simplest can ruin the show's message as one commenter below did point out. For the elders who watched this, it's more of the battle of which takes greater influence to destiny: Nature or Nurture?
I don't think snow white was a nice lady either because she also wanted to make here daughter more popular than raven .
Lets admit it the White family just wants to be popular and be on top rather than to actually help people.
when she heard that raven wasn't going to follow her destiny, she was worried about herself, and later on she says "we(the royals) get happily ever afters, you (I think it could mean villains or rebels) don't". I believe this is in the first two webisodes.
Add on I also just remember that in the first webisode apple says "I won't get my happily ever after". I take this as her being worried for her ending and not raven's or what happens if raven doesn't sign beyond how it effects her. It apple might be oblivious to how she is acting. First of them all in older days meant beauty not kindness.
Edit: just remembered that headmaster Grimm said they all would poof out of existence if they didn't sign and apple was there when he said that. This happened before apple said what she did as stayed above
Just something I wanted to add, in a lot of really old fairy tales when they said fairest it originally meant their physical beauty but over time it became more and more about their heart and goodness. So maybe that plays some role in Apple's and Raven's action?
There are books. In the books we see from apple's and raven's povs. Also raven's dad is shown. Maybe the books could help.

Saw you talk about the theory on tiktok then went to tell my sister and before I even for into the evidence pile like literally all I said was "theres a theory that apple and raven were swapped at birth" and she immediately goes "yeah makes sense raven was kind and apple was selfish"
But In way too wonderland proved that the only one’s in the evil queen’s family reverse that curse. Raven breaks the curse when she got her full powers. If they are switched at birth they’re birthday would be the same. Also it would ruin the shows message

With Raven signing the page dedicated for the Evil Queen's successor, it could also could've lead to the book recognizing Raven as the successor, and thus giving her the very same magic that is supposedly given to the Evil Queen's kin. It would explain how the curse also recognized Raven as being the same as the Evil Queen

The only problem with this theory that I see is that Raven has natural magical abilities like the Evil Queen and Apple does not. It's not explained super well however, so maybe Raven's magic was learned from her mother? It seems to be natural, though, so I'm not sure.

If we go by the switching at birth theory. it might be when Snow White was poisoned by an enchanted apple, Residual evil powers in her body might have passed on to Raven making her a natural? But then it wouldn't make sense for Apple to be powerless since she would literally come from the Evil Queen.

When Rabe then signed (and she too) she could no longer use them because they passed to Rabe because she now has this fate. That you can steal Schiksale was also shown. At least that's my explanation.

In the EAH books you see the real reason why she is attached to following her destiny lol and what you mention is nowhere near
Interesting theory, although I think the reason Apple has blond hair is to differentiate her from her mom. Also in the book, Apple's hair being a different colour is seen as a negative thing and often causes Apple to be discouraged.
It's just to show how most of the characters are so warped into their destinies that any change is a bad thing. Furthermore, it is another explanation for why she is so obsessed with her story, she feels pressure to show that she can be a perfect Snow White, despite blonde hair.
Now... why does she have blonde hair when her mother's hair is black? Well, the blond hair is probably from her father. In other adaptations of the story, the prince has lighter hair than Snow White, often times it is brown or blonde. I imagine that in Ever After High it is blonde, due to Apple being a blonde.
There is no question that Raven looks like her mother. They have the same skin tone, the same nose, the same eyebrows, similar lips and similar eye-shapes. The only difference between the two is the eye and hair colour and the eye-shape is a little different as well.
Raven probably inherited her dad's hair colour. My theory is that Raven's father (the Good King) is Snow White's biological father... after all that is who the Evil Queen marries. That might be why Raven shares some traits with Snow White... they share the same dad. Yes, the Evil Queen’s hair is platinum blonde, but Apple’s hair is just regular blonde and she doesn't look like the Evil Queen at all.
Snow White probably took the mirror from her stepmother and decided to keep it, thus Apple, who grew up hearing her mother's story, probably wanted to use the mirror that will claim her to be the fairest in the land.
Snow White does get manipulated. The Queen convinces Snow White to eat the poisoned apple. Also, let’s not forget… Apple was desperate at that point. It’s easy to manipulate someone when they are desperate for something.
True, the want for power is an Evil Queen thing… but, the way Apple was raised, it is no wonder that she wants to live happily ever after. Following her destiny ensures a happy ending, whereas not following her destiny leaves for an uncertain end.
The reason Raven is good is because she is more like her father the Good King. The Good King spends a lot of time with his daughter and basically raised her. He encourages Raven's kindness in spite of her destiny. The reason for Apple's personality is because of the way she was raised. She was told that she would be/is the fairest in the land. It's no wonder she thinks highly of herself. She is also a princess living a happy life, so she might have been spoiled by her parents.
I think Grimm is more worried about Raven is because he knows that she doesn’t want to sign the book, whereas dating someone who isn’t from the same fairy tale is just a minor inconvenience that will be fixed once the stories play out.
Also, who made the wish to swap the powers?
I agree with most of the things you said and you've defenatley convinced me that that were swapped, but from the point where you said that the Grimm brothers were at fault is where I disagree. I believe, that if they were swapped that no one knows, especially not Snow White or the Evil Queen, the evil queen would not be obessing over Raven joining her and becoming her, if she wasn't her daughter. I never read any of the books (I didn't know that there were books), but you said a very important fact and then dismissed it. The evil Queen's roomate was the Cheshire Cat, who as we saw in Spring Unsprung, loves to create chaos and has the ability to change appearances of objects (so why not people). Kitty's mom is the type of person to take things very far, maybe switching the main characters of the 'biggest story' was her way of proving herself to her mom (or just doing it because she likes BIG pranks), and I think swapping the babies and changing the memories of Snow White and the Evil Queen is something she could do easily.

I mean it makes sense. Apple white looks nothing like her supposed mom. The only similar part is the pale skin. It definitely would have been an interesting twist. Especially if apple white knew the whole time. That would explain why apple was so determined to have everyone follow their destinys and why she came down so hard on Raven.
If you think Apple doesn't look like Snow White because of her hair. There's a lesser known fairy tale called "Snow White and Rose Red" (not to be confused with "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs") in the story Snow White is a brunette and Rose Red is a blonde.

Cherrykaguraowo not talking from Grimm’s POV, but I think it makes sense from their parents’ perspective.
1) Snow White may realize that being raised as her daughter and knowing their destiny may make her daughter conceited, therefore swapping her so they can experience trials and difficulties to humble them before their happily ever after like in the real snow white.
2) the evil queen may have agreed because she likes chaos and clearly has views on the whole destiny things bc she hid the book in the first place. Maybe she thinks it would be funny if her daughter became queen and Snow white’s daughter became the evil queen (though it’s not working)

If you read the books they say how Apple has a trauma with wells cause when she was small she fell into a well that might explain why she doesn't have a thing for wishing wells but idk bout Raven
I don't think they were switched at birth due to their polarizing personalities. In the "Dragon Games" arc, we see that Snow White isn't as wholesome as she makes herself out to be and like Apple she's not too keen on the idea that Raven isn't going to follow the path of evil as she was originally intended. They both hide their sneaky sides behind their sweet, perky attitudes and their aura of perfection, and they both make a point to show off their best attributes as often as possible even during unpleasant moments. Raven and the Evil Queen are also more alike than one might think, while Raven isn't keen on becoming evil like her mother, they both aren't afraid to voice their opinions even if said opinions draw negative attention. Neither one is afraid of altering the status quo, the Evil Queen wanted to expand upon her original story and Raven wants to choose her own Destiny. Both also have a temper that can flare up at anytime, but Raven tries to keep her cool as often as possible while her mother uses it to enhance her evil image. The Evil Queen even said at the end of the arc that Raven is more like her that she realizes. At first glance, these girls might not seem to have much in common with their mothers, but they are also as alike as they are different.
Wasn't there also something about Snow White using magic to make Apple look more beautiful? Wouldn't that also explain the hair? Also the fathers genetics could be a factor
@@bunnywar I think the hair was taken from a lesser known Grimm fairy tale: "Snow White and Rose Red". Illustrations from the story depict the character Snow White with dark hair and the character Rose Red with blond hair.

The fact that Apple had more shades to her personality does not necessarily mean that she was someone else's daughter it just means shes a person and as person we have many sides ugly beautiful where we would not want the others to see.

I am very confused about how Cupid can go to both schools. I have no problem with EAH and MH existing in the same universe but the idea of someone going to both schools makes no sense because... does Cupid have a destiny? is she a part of the Book? would she be allowed in the school if she's not a part of the Book? I think not. also, the fact that "The daughter of Cupid" was a character in MH in the first place is weird because- Cupid isn't a monster like dragons or vampires or werewolves or catpeople or Frankestein's Creature. Cupid is a magical being, sure, but he's not a monster. she was always out of place in MH, she fits in better in EAH, tbh. even as a kid, I thought that.
Actually in mythology there have been references to cupid being a ‘monster’ of sorts. Read the actual myth as this is a quick summary, but in the greek myths, cupid’s wife originally worried that cupid was a monster as she’d moved in with him without ever seeing his face as ‘love is blind’ sometimes. And love/cupid caused many other disasters in greek mythology as well to show how love was a double edged sword, leading many to refer to cupid as a sort of monster as well as a god/deity.
Maybe Cupid going to MH from EAH is actually a rebellious act on her part? I mean I imagine that Cupid's role at EAH would be to make the "right" couples happen, not really inspiring love but fitting people into pre-designated relationships. EAH seems to have themes of fighting against society's expectations, and maybe Cupid's way of doing that was to bail on the part she played in favor of MH - a place that is all about embracing yourself, fitting out of place, and creating new dynamics. A place where love isn't a pre-determined fate and can blossom anywhere.

Hers explained that she was actually forced to transfer by her Aunt, Aphrodite, to spread love and light, because a darkness was enveloping the school or something to that effect. It was later heavily implied to be the evil queen that was the darkness.

They were standing near apple's float and she basically called raven selfish. I remember it leaving a bad taste in my mouth and the whole conversation felt like apple was making herself the victim. Even before that I disliked apple because she failed to realize her privilege being able to have a destiny with a happy ending. Raven had explained to apple that she would be chained up and sent to jail forever (for poisoning someone she considered a friend), while apple got to be crowned queen and live in a castle with her prince charming. I know she gets better in the later seasons but I can't forget the way she kept on pushing and pushing for raven to be evil, trying to act like she was doing it for the good of everyone else. I think I first saw the show when I was twelve and had these exact same thoughts but I hadn't heard much conversation around it (maybe I wasn't looking in the right places).

When Rapunzel's two daughters came to Ever after high, they both thought they had their destiny classes set in straight, But Poppy was actually supposed to be the Next Rapunzel and not her long haired sister Holly. When they finally knew what their actual destinies were, they didn't want to change to their real destinies so they decided to not tell anyone because Poppy liked being a rebel and Holly liked being the next Rapunzel.
On thronecoming, apple and her friends have to find clues to find the truth about the destiny so after they find all the paper rolls it appears to be a spell to to uncurse giles grim and I think it was like that so that because the girls were looking for the truth, the clues lead up to uncursing giles to tell them that they were swapped and that was like the only easy and fast way to let them know the truth
Also while they were finding the clues, raven had to get the roll from the evil queen so what if its a hint that that is actually ravens destiny and also when the reporter girl sorry forgot her name. She gets the glasses of truth and I think that Milton swapped it to a fake one because in the book of legends because if it was the real one, it would've shown that raven having what Apple had?..

i really like the theory! like an original take! but i think it was cool that they showed a contrast in the show that being born to a “good” mother doesn’t just make you good, and being born to an “evil” mother doesn’t make you evil; like Apple was pretty selfish and Raven was always selfless, and i do think showing that contrast so clearly over the course of the series was something sooooo cool

There is a lot I disagree with. I actually do think that Apple, while though a little selfish in knowing that her assigned destiny would be a lot better to have than anyone else’s, I do think that she is a very qualified candidate for Snow White. She doesn’t want to be queen for fame and glory, it is shown throughout the series time and time again that she enjoys and thrives off of helping and serving the people of the kingdom, and she’s taken actions and has been a leadership figure to help the fairytale society. In the webisode “Princess Practice” you see her sacrificing lots of time out of her day to enforce rules to help the woodland creatures as well as rescue people who’ve fallen into wells as well as performing first aid and helping them. I honestly think that to her taking on this role was just fulfilling for her and gave her joy. Not to mention, she gets straight As all the time. Raven on the other hand? She may have a good heart, but she is never really shown in the story to ever resemble qualities of Snow White. Raven is not “queen” material, contrary to her name lol, and I’d imagine she would have no interest in being Snow White nor do I think the writers would ever reveal she was actually her daughter.

I imagine that being an 'Evil Queen' as your fairytale destiny doesn't dictate that chasing glory and fame is all you will ever be, at least that's what I think EAH is going for as a moral message. If that works for Raven, it can work for Apple too.
Despite being the true daughter of Evil Queen (if theory is true), the Evil Queen is shown to like Raven more. Opposites attract maybe? And in the show she spent more time with Apple, despite the Evil Queen claiming that she wants to spend more time with Raven, her daughter. We've all seen Raven proving time and time again that she's not evil, that she's good. But we've also seen that of Apple, who's leading charity events on top of being book-smart. I feel like while they were switched from birth, Apple and Raven were right where they needed to be in order to reach a happy ending together. Because as of now, Raven really isn't queen material, she doesn't want that responsibility nor finds joy in it. But Apple is. They fit perfectly where they are!
So basically, they were switched from birth, but that is also their destiny. And the moment they discover they had switched, a happy ending is still in reach. Because in a twist of fate, Raven is perfectly fine where she is (like Apple was before), and Apple is the one who breaks the cycle of evil, proving to everyone that she can still be good even if she came from an evil family line! (like Raven had proven before) EAH will be the ultimate switcheroo gone right.

Apple is naive and selfish and really only cares about herself in the episode Apple is going around helping others but that's because it's expected of her, and the reason why Raven doesn't get good grades isn't cause she's bad at the subject,it's because it's evil and Raven isn't. Raven prefers doing good and has even sacrificed her future to protect her friends. how many times has Apple put her friends and everyone in danger? way more than Raven. So, Apple who's willing to put others in danger because she doesn't want to get in trouble, is easily manipulated by others, and is completely selfish that's queen material? on the plus side, Ainsley gave multiple events on her theory as to why and the only thing you could come up with is... "princess practice" and "grades".... huh?

I agree on the genetic part but I disagree on the tendency part. Sure, apple is far from the "perfect princess" that she's destined to be. But neither is her mom and we know for sure she's a snow white.
Futhermore, the whole point of ever after high is that people are not defined by the role them were given at birth. So to say Apple is the evil queen's daughter because she acts like the evil queen would completely undermine the story. I think Apple being a deeply flawed character works better if she's the daughter of snow white.

I love this theory. And as an amateur writer myself I know that when you want to tell the audience something (but you don’t really want to tell them yet) you give them hints! A great way to do this is to parallel a character or their situation with other characters or situations in the same universe just earlier on.
So I think a great parallel for Raven and Apple’s situation is the O’Hair twins. Namely the episode where they find out that their birth certificates were *switched*. Their destiny‘s are actually reversed, like Apple and Raven’s obviously would’ve been. And in the end of that ep the twins decide not to tell anyone, even after finding out they realize it doesn’t matter they are who they are and as long as no one knows they can be whoever they want to be.
Now when writing a parallel you either make a mirrored reaction or an opposite reaction, this means that Raven and Apple would either both be fine with being swapped comfortable in their own skin and keep it to themselves, OR One of them would be cool with it and the other one wouldn’t, STILL PERHAPS they would both be heartbroken. Or there’s a possibility that unlike the twins who find out in secret and keep it a secret, our main girls would be outed to everyone immediately. Makes for a lot of fun possibilities to explore.
I think the evil queen may be somewhat compliant since the rules of the land doom her and anyone else deemed "evil" or "antagonistic" to lose. Her daughter naturally would be fated to fail because that is what everyone else believes and enforces. But if her daughter were to be put in the place of a good person and perceived by all to be a protagonist, then that fate would ensure her success no matter what. This would make Snow White seem hateful for so readily giving up her daughter, but as you pointed out, a spell gave Snow's daughter dark powers. So it can be reasoned that Snow White feared these powers would corrupt and eventually condemn the kingdom to fall.

In "Unfairest of then all" the book specifically mentions that the evil queen has dark hair, making this theory less likely if not impossible. Also the Charmings have blonde hair.
This would've been a great twist to explore for a darker take on Ever After High. Just imagine everyone finding out they were switched on purpose by someone, say the Evil Queen. That seems like something a villain would do to cause chaos and mess with their rival. Either she did it to mess with everyone's heads or to prove a point about the storybook of legends and the whole fulfilling your destiny thing being a bunch of bs. For generations everyone had set family bloodlines with each descendant fulfilling their predecessor's destiny so it would throw things into chaos if a child of a hero signed the book to become a villain and vice versa. Though the evil queen didn't expect for Raven to refuse to sign the book which threw off the whole signing day.
I also thought that, and I noticed Raven was more kinder than Apple, when at the end of the episodes she's usually the one who thinks of punishments and stuff, and while as a kid, I never really thought about it now it makes sense, if you switch the names up it makes Apple Queen and Raven White, Apple Queen should be given to the daughter of the Evil Queen right? Because an apple is what the thing that poisoned her enemy(Snow White) and Snow White's daughter should be Raven White, because raven is another way to describe black, and snow is another way to describe white.

Huh, I've always seen Cinderella's hair in the movie as orange-y brown. Sure her hair was blonde in posters and on the DVD image but in the movie itself, it's more orange'y brown than blonde
I think that's because her hair color not that important in her story's, like Pinocchio in this Generation is a girl, because Gepetto wants a child not exclusively a boy (okay, when the original story was written I'm sure he wanted a boy bc it was written in 1883, but that's a reaalz dark tale on some point so nevermind), so there could be some changes but not in the important things.

I havent even watched the video and I agree Apple kinda has a Evil Queen vibe and Raven is like Snow White
'Maybe, it isn't that they were switched literally speaking. It's more of a character complex thing. Apple is afraid of not being able to live up to her legacy, she is terrified of losing her happy ending. Yet a part of her is unlike what every other Snow White is, she is more active and honestly more arrogant than a traditional princess. She also has a different hair color and is mentioned that she tried to dye it, but it wouldn't stick. Hence, how she wants to dye represents how she wants to change some things about herself to fit the "perfect princess" mode (yet she is not able to), she is afraid that the wrong circumstances will take her away from her destiny and turn her evil like the Queen at a younger age.
Now, regarding Raven, she is kinder and even braver than the average villain. Her nature is more of a "knight princess" if you will, she is fundamentally different from her mom (therefore her base color is black, closer to the White´s tone). This could also represent how she feels kind of suffocated by her predetermined fairytale, that´s why she decides to cover that up (both her hair and that part of her personality) with purple, but that would be more of a superficial cape to her. She is so overwhelmed by her future and what could happen to Apple, that she puts on the same "mask" as her mother, she hides in an illusion of power (remember her magic is the same color as her hair). This superficial cape of power, it´s also how others see her and how they are afraid of her. Yet her sweetness (and black hair) are never completely hidden. She is willing to hold herself from succumbing to her evil impulses (and power-lust) and she has the force to do it.
Raven then represents what Apple wants to have, a personality that fits her legacy, more power to change things (as Apple sees it), and the strength of fighting her "natural evil". And maybe it would have been better if they had the other´s place, but now they have to adapt.
In the Class of Classics, it shows more photos of Snow White and the Evil Queen in their days as Ever After High students. In this graphic novel, although her hair looks platinum blonde in the specific photo, in other photos, the Evil Queen is illustrated to have light blue hair, later gaining her current black and purple hair. According to the wiki page, it says she used to have blue hair. Given the fact that the books are possibly canon like the show, the graphic novel could be canon as well. Just wanted to point out that possibility, because if the graphic novel is canon, it would mean the light hair evidence may not be very accurate.
Also, I don't know if this is true or not, but some people believe they gave Apple blonde hair as a reference to the Grimm Fairytale Snow White and Rose Red. According to users who have read the story or seen illustrations, Snow White has blonde hair in the book.
But honestly, basically all the other pieces of evidence is really convincing. I am mostly convinced about this theory. After all this evidence, it's hard to not think otherwise. I swear, if it was actually canon, it would have been such a great storyline if they continued the show.

Frankly, I think it's due to the environment. Apple lived in comfort without having her blood magic needed to be triggered. Raven on the other hand, as the daughter of the Evil Queen, is forced to trigger her magic. I believe both have magic (Hell I assume they are in fact half-sisters of the same father), but Apple's probably dormant...
Yeah but if we're basing on Disney's Snow white, the Prince that Snow White married had dark brown, almost black, hair. Even on other versions of the Prince Charming we see, the Prince usually haslight or dark brown hair, which still doesn't explain Apple's hair

I think 🤔 that their destiny were swapped and in their destiny swapping their hair color changed. It explains why the evil queen is trying really hard to make Raven evil because she wants her daughter to follow in her footsteps and why she has powers because she did so much effort in teaching her magic so she would become evil. It also explains why apple is trying to do everything to be like her mom even though she seems to fallowing in the evil queens footsteps. Or their souls were swapped but their body stayed the same and in the swap the souls their hair color started to change with their soul. That's why Raven still has magic powers but as nice as snow white but is love by the evil queen.

Their birthdays are 7 months apart, and most likely in different years, Raven's is November 25th & Apple's in May 13th. If Raven was born in the same year as Apple, she should be a year behind everyone else (assuming EAH follows US school admissions guidelines, lol)

Raven and apple have the personality traits of their opposite in their fairy tale apple is the more manipulative one and egotistical where as Raven just wants what's good for everyone snow white runs off to the woods and stays with the dwarfs raven runs off and stays with the pixies it would also explain why snow is more detached of apple and is so set on her being the most popular, however it doesn't explain EQ's love for Raven she genuinely wants to spend time with her and if that's because maybe she grew to love her like her own why isn't she like that with apple. I could also find it believable that EQ wanted the stories to continue which is why she tried to turn Raven evil but her goodness was just too strong
Edit: I just rewatched Wisp's full backstory and she turned mean when Fawn was the holder and they're very vague about what her last wish was but I feel like it's a safe bet it was something like wishing the lantern went off to somewhere it could never hurt anyone in ever after again which accidentally sent it to monster high. If Fawn was the only holder before Howleen to be effected by Wisp that means she would have had to be from ever after high despite looking like a monster high character and having no clear indicator of what story she's from. The problem with that is that Fawn existed hundreds of years ago so unless her last wish also sent gigi and Wisp to the past as well as in monster high then the timelines don't make sense
I do love this theory however I would like to mention that the reason Apple has blond hair is because in the Grim Tails Snow White had blonde hair and the Charles Grim Brothers are the headmasters of the school

I’ve always known that Apple has always been so shellfish and kind of show off-y. I said show off-y because she keeps on blabbering about “you should follow your destiny or not you’ll go poof!” When she herself have no proof of whether what Milton said would even happen, I mean just think about it, not signing a book then you go ‘poof’ it just doesn’t make sense. Apple blind trusted Milton just because he is the so called headmaster, while Raven didn’t care what other people, even those with higher power than her said. She uncovered the truth herself, by going through different sources that gives her the truth, she followed what her friends, Maddie mostly and her heart say, and isn’t that how a royal act, by following their heart through their happy ever after? And also don’t forget the fact that a Prince Charming, Dexter also fell in love with her despite her being a rebel. Daring isn’t obviously Apple’s prince, he’s just what you call an act, he’s basically acting until he finds his happily ever after/princess who was truly always has been Rosabella, when Rosabella hugged him at the time he was turned to a beast, not only did she help him he through the process through each step, but she also managed to turn Daring to his own self, thus Daring is the Beast in Rosabella’s story. Darling was the one who woke Apple up and the both of them were not even dating, or ever dated. It was just a friendship kiss. Daring fell in love with Lizzie, then Rosabella, but never really showed any love to Apple except when he’s boasting about how handsome and cool he looks. Apple lost “her” prince, Raven is dating a prince, which makes this theory more believable. Apple got manipulated by the Evil Queen because a mother knows everything about her daughter and of course how her brain works too, Raven never got manipulated like Apple because she puts her friends and what is right first and fyi the mirror book did not work/ did not catch the E.Q when she directed at her, but when Raven used her magic on it, it directly blocks E.Q’s Magic and trap her, also reforming everything that has been broken by the queen. Apple keeps on pushing Raven to sign her story, this is literally a sign and prove that she is pushing her morals and beliefs into someone, while Raven signs the book in order to save her friends. Ever since Legacy Day I’ve thought that Apple is just too shellfish to be a princess and thought that it was weird when Raven who was supposed to be the most evil person ever actually cared about her friends and didn’t want to sign the book probably because she didn’t want to lose her friend, ‘cause she knows if she signs the book, Apple will go with her prince and will directly forget about her, or Raven was just scared that Apple might not wake up from her sleep. Apple is a princess by her look, Raven is a princess by her heart.
For example: throngcoming, she attempted to sign her to protect her from a fake bad 👎 future. She didn't know it was at the time. In way to wonderland, she signs the book 📖 , to obtain her powers to protect her friends and in dragon 🐉 games. She even goes fake evil with her really awful mother to protect her friends.

other thing i always wondered is why apple doesn't feel the least compassion towards raven, like: raven always told her "why wont you let me follow my own destiny" and apple always ignores or dismisses that question with what it would happen but raven always asked about her opinion in this. If raven is truly apple's friend why would apple want raven to suffer ? Well that's because she probably knows that she was meant to have the evil queen's destiny. Since she knows she acts oblivious to raven's question.
Other thing is that i also wonder is the story book of legends validation. Since apple's and raven's true destinies were the opposite wouldn't that mean the book was supposed to show their true destinies? Well there is another vid that talks about the story book of legends being fake, and if we unite this theory with the swap. it would make sense.

Yeah, I think that you’re clutching at really thin straws here. Blond hair is a recessive trait. It’s easy for Apple to be blond. And equally possible for Raven to be dark. The magic is clearly from Raven’s mother and in the Dragon Games, the Evil Queen is clearly driven by a desire to be closer to Raven. Everything she does is clearly driven towards that goal. Even the fact that Apple’s blond hair was mentioned is clearly more about Apple’s doubts than anything else.
Unless Snow White dyes her hair, using real life genetics, Apple couldn't be blonde even if her dad was. Black and blond make brown. Then again, this is a show with magic fairytale stuff so what do I know?

Apple was very determined to follow her assigned destiny that when the mirror said Raven was the fairest she was obsessed with getting the "fairest of them all" title she accidentaly poisoned Raven (Some evil magic pushed her to do so) and so their destenies swapped. Dexter took on the role of being "Snow white's prince". Which is why Daring isnt the one destined for the role, since Apple was never gonna be Snow White, maybe he is her prince but he isnt part of the Snow White story.
Maybe they were swapped at birth bc they somehow knew apple would be wayy too powerful as the evil Queen, where as raven would be a lot more chill/easy to control in that position
Who else need this series to get back on track and that final epic movie crossover between Ever After High and OG Monster High to kick off? The only reason Descendants made it is because it's Disney...
Let’s also remember that Snow White orders talking mirrors. So I think she realizes she not actually snow whites daughter but is suppressing the truths. So she gets mirrors to “get in character” as the fairest when in reality she’s not. And when the mirror broke Raven did her hardest to fix it to make Apple feel better and not make her mad. When Apple wasn’t mad she was confused and Apple was happy she’s was breaking stuff out of anger. Which is not what really happened. Also if the mirror was real it wouldn’t break so easy. But raven is to caught up in making everything rights that she doesn’t consider it. Even when a new one came. Also let’s recognize that apples “mom” is so pressing on the matter of Apple being her daughter in the dragons game. She would be so harsh and pushy to make raven seem evil and make her evil. She didn’t want raven to actually be her actually daughter. But she hated that the Evil queen and Apple spent time together and plotted together. And her mom helped her cover the release of the Evil queen. So that the truth of them be swapped isn’t true.
I have another theory. They're related (their moms are sisters or cousins). This would mean that either one could take after either mother.
These are all interesting theories, but actually, I think that the real point of the show (maybe even the *main* point of the show) is that you don't have to just automatically "follow your destiny". You can create your own.
The whole point was that who you're related to isn't the *only* thing that matters.
Sure, it's *one* of the things, but it's not the *only* thing.
And the show actually already *told* us that and *showed* us that, multiple times. Or rather Raven did.
This is like with Mal in Descendants. There is never any indication anywhere at any point that she is not her mother's daughter. She just doesn't want to be or become like her mom.
In the original fairy tale, Evil Queen is Snow White's stepmother. Although this doesn't make them blood related, a hypothetical child between EQ and SW's Dad would be related to Snow White.
It makes sense.... when Apple signed the book it clearly showed Daring Charming waking her up and then marring her, but later on it was his sister that woke up Apple during the dragon games, not Daring. To top it off Daring turned into a beast during the episode 'epic winter' and showed a clear story connection to beauty and the beast not snow white. I know the book was switched and the one used was a fake but that only adds to the fact that it showed a false tale.
And, just a thought, isn’t the evil queen the fairest in the land until Snow White gets older and becomes more beautiful than the queen. Apple is the fairest throughout the entire show which possible means Raven could surpass apple in beauty and become the new Snow White.
The purple is natural, as fun as this theory might be there are countless things that debunk it at least in the books.
The evil queen in disguise kind of looks like Gigi (or however you spell it,) and Snow White almost reminds me of Whisp. So could that possibly mean something?
I actually have a theory that the alien girl from ever after high that appears in monster high boo york boo york is ravens sister. We see her talking to raven and apple at the end of the movie, proving she’s from there. In dragon games we get a glimpse of what the evil queen used to look like, and it kinda matches, especially the color schemes. I get the feeling when not in her monster form she looks almost exactly like the evil queen as a teenager. She could be there to run from her mom and destiny so she can’t be forced to take up the mantle. It also explains how Raven and Apple knew her but you never see her in Ever After High, when they seem very close

This makes a lot of sense actually. Who else but an evil queen would desperately cling to the future where she has all the power and is the most loved? Even if she truly thinks it is her destiny, it’s actually just in her nature as the evil queen to want that.
It does make sense because remember in the one episode where raven refused to follow in her mothers footsteps and then apple got mad and called raven selfish
You say that it’s weird about apples hair however in the original Snow White Snows mother made a wish for her daughter hair to be black as ebony like the window, Snow White also made a similar wish but when she had apple she was in the castle and the window was gold which is probably why apple is blonde ✨

As much as I really like this theory cause it makes a lot of sense, the reason Apple is blonde is actually because she's based off of the Grimm brothers story, "Snow-White and Red-Rose" in which Snow-White is actually blonde.

Nice video! I can see that a lot of work went into it and it's really great to see EAH content in 2022. As for the theory, I've never been a huge fan of it because I feel like it (albeit unintentionally) reinforces a narrative that EAH is combatting: not everyone is like their parents. When people propose the theory, the mindset that I tend to see is "Apple = selfish, Raven = friendly" when the source material, especially the books, go out of their way to show that Apple has been pressured throughout her whole life by the adults around her and truly believes her friends will disappear if the book isn't signed. The theory reinforces that (the daughter of) Snow White would have a natural predisposition to be friendly and the (daughter of the) Evil Queen self-centered.
From a canon standpoint I also feel like the theory doesn't hold up too well:
- 1:40 The hair thing can biologically be explained through Apple and Raven also being able to inherit their father's hair colors as well. As for why Apple's hair being blonde was brought up in the book, to me it was clear that this was done in order to highlight Apple's insecurities and make her a more rounded character. They do the same by giving her glasses: it's an ""imperfection"" in the eyes of the world that Apple feels pressured to hide or change. This makes her more relatable to the reader and shows that she's battling her own demons too.
- 4:55 Saying that Apple shouldn't be able to be manipulated by the Evil Queen because she's Snow White's daughter doesn't really make sense to me. Isn't it part of her destiny to be tricked into biting the apple? I feel like you could just as well say that she has a predisposition for being manipulated by her.
- 8:40 There's no confirmation that the spell the characters were under in Spring Unsprung was indeed the Topsy-Turvy spell. I mean it works for Cedar, but to argue that it was you'd the case also have to argue that Ashlynn and Hunter are actually evil, which I don't think is a very strong point. They also help Apple block the well, I don't understand why this fact was omitted from the video.
- 9:41 Milton cares a lot about Apple and Raven in particular because the Snow White story is a very prestigious one that serves as an example to other students. If that story doesn't go through, others might follow suit. Also Raven started the Rebel trend, so he's combatting the "problem" at the source.
- 11:37 I don't think it makes a lot of sense to say that Giles wouldn't tell Apple or Raven even after being freed, just because he might have thought "people are happy now," I feel like that's glossed over wayyy too easily in this video. For one, it wasn't fine, Thronecoming takes place before Dragon Games and Way Too Wonderland when all the destiny stuff was still going on. If he was so adamant about telling them before that his brother had to curse him, then this is a weak reason not to. But even besides the destiny stuff, any sane person would think that if you were swapped at birth you'd deserve to know the truth, and Giles is a kind person.
- 16:11 If you're saying that Snow White and the Evil Queen were actually aware of the swapping... They're total enemies. Just as a matter of pride they would never be alright with raising the other's kid as their own instead I'm certain. And I'm sure in a world with powers they could find some way to switch powers back. Besides if the Evil Queen is unhappy with the situation why doesn't she turn whistleblower?
Maybe a swapped at birth plot twist _might_ have worked if it had been subverted in some way. But as of now I don't find the evidence very compelling. I'd figure if the show writers had it in mind then they would have hinted at it more and would have utilized it in Dragon Games when all this stuff was going on. But after Dragon Games the arc with Snow White and the Evil Queen was pretty much wrapped up. We also know the actual plot of what would have been the MH/EAH crossover, and from what has been revealed it is not about this.
Edit: Also when Raven signs the book she turns evil and she has def had some evil moments herself.
In EAH, you can also see that apple was singing and asking her mirror who the fairest is in the school. When apple left to get jewelry from briar, Raven tried to do the same to her mirror but, the evil queen had a magic mirror and Snow White didn’t, so wouldn’t is make sense that raven would get the mirror? Ofc with some limitations to the magic because she isn’t as powerful as her mom. But why did apple get it? It could also be the Snow White gave it to apple after the evil queen got banished into her mirror prison BUT Snow White knew that it was dangerous so…. Not to mention it could also be that Snow White gave it to her to fulfill her destiny as the evil queen gave her a poison apple that she could have eaten..? But she didn’t. (She did this in the dragon games btw)
There is one thing I disagree with this theory wouldn’t the story book legend know that they’ve been switch and because it excepted Apple white’s to be Snow White’s daughter and raven to be the evil queen‘s daughter

I feel like snow and the evil queen could've been baited into swapping them, I mean look at the dragon games... Its extreme but honestly knowing both characters I feel like they might just if they were baited hard enough.
Maybe they’re both the evil queen’s daughter, and for whatever circumstances, Apple was the first born given to Snow White as a twist since it’s usually the “good” family that has to give up their first born
