A lot of people are saying their games are crashing when they load the character into the game. If you're using the Psych Engine and your not using the source code, make sure you put your character sheet and xml into, mods/images/characters. And put your character Json in, mods/characters. If you just put it in, assets/shared/images/characters it won't work.
For anyone asking how to make a Json, I recommend watching JahdaMan's video on it. I feel like they explains the process pretty well.

One problem though, I use windows 7 and once I unzipped the thing, there was *one file missing.* Idk how to say this on Gamebanana cuz they're strict with submitting the issue in text form and idk how the chatbox works-

Well I have the character spritesheet and the xml, but I don't have a json file for it. Does it automatically create itself? And also, do we have to create these folders in our mods folder? I'd appreciate it if you can help me out with this stuff. This is my first time doing this.
Hi @@MARIO23ACE! You do have to make the Json yourself. I recommend

You don't have to make the folders in the mod folder. They should already be there. If they're not there, you probably have an older version of psych.

probably a bit too late but Scratch made sprites will "work" but they'll require further editing to stop sliding.
@@Princess_Jade64 i already tried it and it works :) (and I also had to edit it a bit because it was sliding a bit)
@@Brokenzombie1 a workaround is to convert them into png's with freeconvert, it's what I use

I have this error where the game crashes a few seconds after the start of the song.. any suggestions?
You might never see this, but when I tried to put my character in game, the character was just frozen. Like, their idle wasn't moving and they weren't moving to the arrow poses.

for some reason when i go into the character editor and i load in my character it says error next to the animation name idk why

My characters keep being too small even tho their the same size as the one that is normal sized

hey, i try everything even using every single tutorial i could find but for some reason everytime i try to reload image (i checked the name again and again) it says "error: no animation found" and i'm honestly not sure what to do anymore

You just need to make your frames at a smaller resolution
I recommend you to draw your frames with a canvas that has the size of 1000x1000

Yes, you can export your work as spritesheet and xml. just remove spritesheet and replace the original character xml with that one if youll just change the xml of a character

i think you assigned the animations incorrectly
I did it exactly the same way it was done in the video
It's because you named the animations almost the same
For each pose I recommend that you should write different words and then the animation name.
Example:
Left-"Left note"
Miss left-"Gorilla left miss note"
Right-"Right note"
Miss right-"Balcony right miss note"
And do the same with the down and up animations (The words should start with a different letter)

I put everything in their respective folder. I go into the character editor by pressing 8, and load it. And it crashes.
It has an ALT Left, Right, Up, and Down animation. And a laughing animation. Does that have anything to do with it?
EDIT: A few Tutorials later and I fixed it.
I've had this problem before i kinda got it fixed here's how:
Put the Asset's in mods-images-characters.
Sometimes it crashes sometimes it doesn't.
i once had my Character loaded and the Positions were done but when i tried loading it in in the debug thing it crashed. Idk why.

You would add in your frames and then label them as such. Like, "missLeft" or "dodge".

use psych engine when on menu click 7 and select charactor editor and before adding it make sure you add it to the images or else it will crash in psych/mods/images/characters

you've probably missed the part of him deleting the spaces in .xml file
You need another file witch needs animations offsets and animation names and pit it in mods

hey quick question? how big is one individual sprite supposed to be? like, i know a whole sprite sheet is supposed to be 2048 by 1024, but how big is one individual sprite supposed to be?
It can be any size you want!
But I recommend not a big size, (if you have a low end pc,)

It's Aseprite. You can buy it on steam and their website for 20$. It's manly for pixel art but I use it for normal art too.
