I didn't think I could love One Horse Town more than I did, but this version is AMAZING.
I grew up with Charlie and I'm pretty sure this song is about that little town. I'm glad to be gone and I can't see myself ever going back. Glad to see you're doing well.

In response to his comment at the end of the clip...As a drummer, I'm a nut about tempo, naturally. But when our rhythm guitar player would wander from time to time, especially when he was singing, the bass player could see I would be agitated. After the set was over the bass player would say to me "It's not how it sounds, it's how it feels." To his credit, the crowd never noticed and still has a great time. Also, I didn't notice an odd shift in tempo or hear a bad note, I guess I was having a good time too just now. This is unusual since I'm naturally sensitive to those things and I tend to notice them even when just listening casually. Now it feels like a challenge to listen again and see If I can find it. It's a great song, somehow it feels both old and new at the same time, I'll be listening to it a lot.
I wonder if Charlie Starr would get his guitar and come too my house?

Absolutely agree. Love this series but it wasn’t just one fumbled lyric. Came in late, missed lyrics, then came in way late again. As a fellow musician I’ll admit even the simplest sounding song can be very easily screwed up.
It doesn't look or sound like he felt his best.
Daryl's voice is great, there's no question there. I love these videos from Daryl's House but sometimes he needs to take a back seat and be a backup singer.

I watched this a few days ago and wasn’t going to comment - but I’m conflicted enough that I came back here to say…
Daryl and crew: I have loved many of your videos over the years and have deeply appreciated the work and effort you’ve put into making these videos. But this one was not up to par. And it didn’t do justice to Charlie and his team’s talent and accomplishments. Charlie deserved better.
Charlie: If they ever ask you back, bring a band mate or two with you so you can stack the deck in your favor.

Sure seems like Daryl is phoning it in this season. I’d go as far as to say he probably spent more time picking out that hat than learning Charlie’s tunes.
His voice has degenerated a lot vocally in the last 8 years or so. It’s not phoning it, he’s just gotten old (77 years old).
