Watch this--and any number of videos of the Traditional Latin Mass on this website--then look me in the eye and tell me the Novus Ordo is the same Mass. You can't because IT'S NOT.
I frequently attend Latin mass. I might even say I attend it at least twice a week if I'm lucky, and I attend low and sung (high mass). I can tell you that it is NOT the same mass as Novus Ordo. They changed a lot of the prayers, especially the Confiteor (What is this "I confess to Almighty God and to you my brothers and sisters" nonsense? The mass is about God, first and foremost!), Kyrie is no longer said in the ninefold way (six repetitions of Kyrie, three of Christe), the Canon of the mass is the same though some things were omitted or changed.. The presence is real, but badly catechised Novus Ordites don't fully understand the real presence, some as bad as they would walk off with the consecrated host in their hand.
2ndRatePetronius 2ndRatePetronius You are completely right. I’m a traditional Roman Catholic, also known as a Tridentine. I believe Our Lady of La Salette, 1879 (?), who said the Catholic Church would be eclipse. I’m called a “radicle” by many people in the city where I live who go to the Novus Ordo because I go to a traditional Roman Catholic Church that never went with the changes and the Mass is only done in pre 1956 rubrics. (I’m also a Sedevacantist because these men in Rome who are called “Popes” are heretical in what they teach and do, which no real, or true, Pope would ever do.) God bless you!
aldrick barber I’ve heard a couple of stories from people who are in FB group I’m in who still go to the Novus Ordo Church (but I’m thinking the groups name is Catholics Against Modernism) and they posted how they found a Eucharistic host on the ground outside the church as they were leaving. One of these 2 people (who are in different towns or cities) took the host back into the church and gave it to the priest. I’m not sure if the Eucharist host was actually consecrated because of the changes in the Church, but just in case I’m glad the person gave it a priest. Heartbreaking that these thing’s happen, and they happen A LOT more than I can imagine. 😢
I can't believe this used to be the Old Los Angeles Cathedral, now we have an unattractive modernized building which is supposed to be the new Cathedral. Can't wait to have the first Traditional Latin Mass in the new Cathedral this October 1, 2016 thanks to the FSSP!
Hey, you know they say that God works in mysterious ways! I just so happened to be searching TH-cam for videos on Latin Mass and came across this one. I read your comment and said "Wow, really?!" I actually went on Google to get more info. It turns out that the mass WILL be celebrated on 10/1/2016 @ 8AM. I actually went to a Traditional Latin Mass for the first time in my life last Sunday and I loved it! Words cannot explain what it felt like to me. It felt so good to attend the same type of Mass that my parents and grandparents did. My mom said it brought back so many memories of when she would attend mass as a little girl. She loved it, too.
Well, THIS guy will certainly make an effort to attend. And I'm already starting to spread the word about this Mass. I'm telling relatives and my Catholic friends & co-workers about this special event. I actually ordered my own Latin Missal yesterday so that I can follow along. I'm actually kind of anxious to attend, hahaha!!! 😁
You're FOURTEEN?! Hahahaha!!! Wow!!! Hey, I'm not laughing at you. It's just that it's rather uncommon for kids your age to be so into this sort of stuff. @tlaniganschmidt Thank you for raising this important point. Although I was not alive myself prior to the Council, I too have become aware of some of what you describe, both from watching these videos and from conversations with others. I have spoken with many individuals who left the Church after the Council but who, rather than embracing the revival, prefer to remain at home because of a certain sense of coldness, awkwardness and artificiality felt at revival services.

@nasticanasta Rituals certainly were in the upper room. It was a Passover meal - which is a very formalized ritual with particular persons taking particular roles. As far as the "purple" robes, purple is only used for very limited times during the year, so why do you keep focusing on purple? The ceremonies and items used for them are an expression of the royal dignity of Christ. That is why we use them. We always knew that is not what it was like in the upper room.
YOU can access them I just did....any comment removed can be seen by clicking the "see" link under each one. Regardless I posted his comments...and yet you use excuses.

O Lord, when will you give me a way to return to this Apostolic Church, Your true Body? looking at the form of worship, it is indeed better and more touching and more beautiful and heavenly than in my church which is noisy with worldly band musical instruments whose center is humans who are on stage to show their skills and their pride is instead centered on the Lord God and our redeemer Christ.. ..
Interesting Latin which the priest rushes through the Mass with. I'm happy to say the Extraordinary Form is said better than this today, though sadly far less often.
They were not rushing through the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Holy Communion consisted of 300-400 people bare minimum in a city the size of Los Angeles. It was nothing like the post 1970 world. Talk to an old Priest who was alive back then, their stories will blow your mind.
@IMPERIUMMEX, while I cannot say that it never happened, the Catholic Church FORBIDS the segregation of the people. It was something that was actually commented on frequently in the 19th and early 20th centuries, when various Protestant churches had the practice of "selling" pews to wealthy families as part of their funding. The only time seats are "reserved" for certain people for a Catholic Mass is for special celebrations like weddings, ordinations, and things like that.

@davidwcooney Here is a reference containing the biblical support for every Catholic teaching you have questioned. I put it here for you - if you dare - and for anyone else who chooses to check it out. I only debate in person these days because it is easier to hold the other person to actually checking out our evidence, as this exchange has made most evident. The reference is "A Textual Concordance of the Holy Scriptures" by Thomas David Williams.
@catholicpeter Don't weep, just don't be involved with the novus ordo. Traditional parishes are springing up everywhere. While the many have fallen, there is a renewed faith in some. Take heart, a remnant remains.
The word “trogo” is only used two other times in the New Testament (in Matt. 24:38 and John 13:18) and it always means to literally gnaw or chew meat. While “phago” might also have a spiritual application, "trogo" is never used metaphorically in Greek.

@nasticanasta What?? You can't be serious. We can't be authentic unless our priests wear the same clothes? That must mean that the minister at your church wears the same clothes the Apostles did, right? And, of course, they don't own their own building in which to preach since the Apostles didn't, right?
when Jesus said here is my body the bread, and here is my blood the wine... was the blood and bread his body and blood while he was standing there with it? Was Jesus split up into the cup the bread and himself at the same time? was there alter boys, crosses incense, gold chalices, royal colored robes, was there parading around in that upper room the night before the crucifixion? If so...please post the exact scriptures that says this. I want the scriptures that say this happened.
Jesus made no attempt to soften what he said, no attempt to correct "misunderstandings," for there were none. His listeners understood Him alright. They didn't think he was speaking metaphorically. If so, if they mistook what he said, why no correction? On other occasions when there was confusion, He explained just what he meant (cf. Matt. 16:5-12). Here, where any misunderstanding would be fatal, there was no effort by Him to correct. Instead, he repeated himself for emphasis.
Rev. 1:13, 4:4, 6:11, 7:9, 15:6, 19:13-14 - priests wear special vestments in heaven. Our priests also wear special vestments in celebrating the Holy Mass on earth.
Galatians 1-8; But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
@trady the "revival" totally ignores a theological-perspective that the laity understood. And this is the centering of the Mass in our daily lives. As Lay-people we identify with our favorite Saints. The old-immigrant Mass is much more complex its organic-simplicity than our over-undereducated,self-absorbed clergy never even bothered to explore. What our-clergy called "clutter" was the affectionate unity of the body of Christ into the ineffable-totality of the Communion of Saints in God'sEmbrace

Can anyone tell me the name of the song they are singing around minute 2:00
Are you sure this is the Missa Choralis? Ive youtubed it and it sounds different.
I only attend Traditional Latin Mass, this way Mass she always bee, I never could see myself going back to Mass of Vatican 2. If you are Catholic and concern about your soul you will only attend Traditional Latin Mass only.
His Latin was fine
How can you even tell unless you slow down the video to .5 speed? It's hardly Italianate. "Kiree Elys'n.. Crist Elys'n."
@@VinylToVideo I can hear it very well. BTW that bit isn't Latin, but Greek.
Because back in the day your average Catholic Cathedral had like SIX masses every sunday... Priests weren't messing around back then dude!
What Kyrie are they signing?
What is the name of the hymn?
@IMPERIUMMEX, while I cannot say that it never happened, the Catholic Church FORBIDS the segregation of the people. It was something that was actually commented on frequently in the 19th and early 20th centuries, when various Protestant churches had the practice of "selling" pews to wealthy families as part of their funding. The only time seats are "reserved" for certain people for a Catholic Mass is for special celebrations like weddings, ordinations, and things like that.
This looks like Holy Mass at my parish in Omaha. It's too bad Cardinal Mahony is so insane.
Rev. 4:8-11, 5:9-14, 7:10-12, 18:1-8 - the various antiphonal chants in the heavenly liturgy are similar to those used at the Holy Mass on earth.
Which film is this from?
Which kyrie sing the singers?

I was unable to access them
What church is this?
Ave Maria Ora Pro Nobis
@dacatholicbandorgan Los Angeles was originally part of Mexico. So a lot of Mexicans were already there. That's why the name is in Spanish.
Take heart, a remnant remains.
actually there is no definite dates for any of the books....
@davidwcooney You can easily check what the Church actually teaches for yourself. It's all documented and publicly available.
The word “trogo” is only used two other times in the New Testament (in Matt. 24:38 and John 13:18) and it always means to literally gnaw or chew meat. While “phago” might also have a spiritual application, "trogo" is never used metaphorically in Greek.
@shreve99 so your saying the Pharasee's didn't wear robes? Refute my claims!
@shreve99 lol instead of doing so, you just talked about how you "would" do it...I have alreadymade some assertions refute them!
2nd Timothy 2:2 -- And what you heard from me through many witnesses entrust to faithful people who will have the ability to teach others as well.
@nasticanasta Exactly, the body is offered once and eternally. That is exactly what the Catholic Church teaches.
Was this actually taking place Christmas Eve (1944) That exact time four miles from france was one of the biggest tragedies in that war, u tube: sinking of LEOPOLDVILLE SHIP. since was a govt secret for 40 years, NO LATIN MASSES SAID FOR THEIR SOULS< NEAR 800 soldiers of america died.
@nasticanasta What?? You can't be serious. We can't be authentic unless our priests wear the same clothes? That must mean that the minister at your church wears the same clothes the Apostles did, right? And, of course, they don't own their own building in which to preach since the Apostles didn't, right?
I protect no freak but my Catholic faith - I cant access his comments they've justly been removed and I am sorry you had to endure such animosity
when Jesus said here is my body the bread, and here is my blood the wine... was the blood and bread his body and blood while he was standing there with it?
Anybody here from school?
@trady the "revival" totally ignores a theological-perspective that the laity understood. And this is the centering of the Mass in our daily lives. As Lay-people we identify with our favorite Saints. The old-immigrant Mass is much more complex its organic-simplicity than our over-undereducated,self-absorbed clergy never even bothered to explore. What our-clergy called "clutter" was the affectionate unity of the body of Christ into the ineffable-totality of the Communion of Saints in God'sEmbrace
What are they saying at 1:08?
