    We know Ray and Claude were innocent, but really it would have been easy work to frame them. You got 2 out of towners from New York who no one knows, you have everybody in the bar who will testify to Ray yelling about being cheated and how he was gonna get his revenge. You had the waitress who would testify to Ray being physically agressive with her, then finally you got Ray and Claude kneeling over the dead man picking his pockets. Its really an open and shut case.

      1. Ray never had blood on him
      2. Where was the weapon
      3. Between the time they left the bar and found him and the white farmers finding them, it wasn’t enough time to kill a man.
      4.Someone killed him and we know his cane doubled as a sword and guess who had a drag cut that night? Sheriff. That should’ve been investigated

He’s innocent tho😮😮😮😮” but looking at it from the jury’s stand point (how you worded it) we the jury find Ray Gibson and Claude Banks guilty of murder, bootlegging/transporting illegal substances and domestic violence 😢😢😢😢

      Easy now, I'm a New Yorker (Bronx, NY to be specific) Not all of us are easily duped like Ray and Claude! One thing about us New Yorkers is we have a lot of pride in our city and we are not scared to let people we are from New York; but that does not necessarily mean we dislike people from other parts of the country. I have relatives in the South, specifically Virginia, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Texas.

    Y’all know me by now lol I always got more points!
    For one Claude has showed how selfish of a person he is. It’s literally all about him. Ray is constantly saying how he’s going to get them out of it. Claude only says “us” because he’s included. Ray includes Claude in everything for good and bad. Honestly I think Ray was always just…lonely. And even though Claude pisses him off, he saw a kindred spirit.
    As far as the Sheriff Pike jail scene, I bet you that POS would go to church and not lose a wink of sleep. But it also shows the hypocrisy of white supremacy and how a certain someone just got convicted. When it’s us it’s ’if you did nothing wrong you have nothing to worry about’ or ‘we take the law seriously’
    This movie and its themes are still so relevant to this day.

    This is honestly one of my top 5 movies of all time. It’s so funny and good, but it does hit so close to home. I’m from Louisiana and I had an uncle who was sentenced to life in Angola when he was a teen for a terrible crime he did not commit. & unfortunately he ended up passing in prison. & it’s so crazy how the movie is able to portray such a traumatic event in such a funny and captivating way. It really makes you think about all of the people who were wrongfully convicted and forced to live a life they didn’t deserve. I’m looking forward to the other parts!

    The ‘Country Bumpkin’ trope needs to die … it’s old tired & played. I’m a transplant to Atl from NY, been here 25+ years and I love it here. But I’m talking about in real life not in this movie. This is one of my favorites.

    36 cases. This reminds me of the movie Deliverance. Great movie! They go and think the back woods country folks are beneath them when they arrive. Laugh and talk to them how they want when they meet the people who live and work at the gas station. Even don't want to pay them for what they think driving their cars downriver is worth doing them a favor so they can canoe and get home after their trip. I grew up in the country. Don't ever underestimate someone because you are better off than them financially. I'm going to have to watch Life again now. They don't make movies like this no more sadly.

    47:26 this is the second time in the movie where we’ve seen a black character react what we believe would be uncharacteristically, for this time. Especially, to a white character. I wonder if this was based on stories that have been told of Black people who actually did have this amount of courage to do this, or if this was artistic license for the movie specifically.

    I belive Claude said he went to night school to earn the credentials for his bank job and most likely worked a lower level job previously and gambled on baseball games as a side hustle which he recently lost his bets and owed Mr Riley the $50.00

    • @AxiomAmnesia
      @AxiomAmnesia  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I might have missed the part where he was doing the side hustle. Thanks for mentioning that! 😊

  • @PGHDude
    @PGHDude 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Claude is the snitch “those were Spanky’s booze!” Ray was just gonna fess up “yeah you have us on the bootlegging but we didn’t kill anyone.” He was being so honest and heartfelt.

      @AxiomAmnesia  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1
