When the burning building fell down and Willie yelled "RAYMOND!" 😢 At that point they were brothers... over 40 years in there together Also when Claud looked at his reflection in the car window....💔 seeing that life has passed him by and he never had a chance to live in this new world he's seeing for the first time...
Fun fact: Rick James (RIP Superfreak and give it to me baby singer) a 1980's megastar, played Spanky. RIP Bernie Mac(Jingle Leg), Clarence Williams III(Winston Hancock), & Michael Taliferro(Goldmouth).Great reaction to a classic MJ!
For what it's worth, this is a borderline flawless movie and one of my top 5 favorite movies ever. That scene with Biscuit essentially committing suicide is one of the biggest gut punches I've ever felt in cinema. Like nobody in that scene was happy with what had happened. Boss was upset, Hoppin Bob was upset (and was hesitating to pull the trigger), and even the dude who shot Biscuit was upset. This movie has some heavy and depressing social commentary that is given with a figurative "spoonful of sugar" in comedic scenarios by some of the greatest comedians and comedic actors who ever lived. Also, the Superintendent who was going to write up the pardon papers towards the end is different from the one who had the black grandbaby. Keep in mind that by the time they were working in the mansion, about 30 years had passed since Can't-Get-Right got released, so the old Superintendent was probably long passed away by then. I know the stress of his daughter having a fatherless black baby in the 40s/50s probably put his ass in an early grave lol. Great reaction though! Your ability to react and still pay attention to the movie is an underrated skill. A lot of reactors spend so much time talking over the movie and even having sidebar conversations and they end up missing a lot of key scenes that are the reason they get asked to react to certain things in the first place. I was gonna say you earned a subscriber but I realize I'm already subscribed lol.
The cornbread scene is actually a redone scene from a movie with Paul Newman called Cool Hand Luke. The scene is not about cornbread at all.. they play it off for laughs at first but this is about pride and showing you cannot be taken advantage of. Even though he got beaten.. He never gave up. If Martin Lawrence had been allowed to give his cornbread to that other inmate he would have been his bitch the rest of the time in prison
When Claude saw the World changes from the 30s to 70s and when he saw his reflection in the car window and slightly touched his face than adjusted his tie was amazing acting from Martin Lawrence, it always got me emotional cause he was about to be a bank teller and marry his girl but him and Ray got accused of murder and it was the end. This movie was Oscar nominated, but only for makeup, and it should have been an Oscar nominated because it knew when to make you and laugh and get you emotional.
24:31 I Love The Seen With “Ray’s Boom Boom Room” It Really Gives The Inmates A Chance To Be Free Again Through Rays Stories, Even Tho They’re All Sure To Pass Away In Prison It Gave Them A Feel Of What Freedom Was Again & They Were All Hooked!
This film has always been a classic. A film that brilliantly intertwines an emotional drama with gut busting comedy. I wish Martin and Eddie had done more films. Always I believe this was nominated an award for the make-up
Let Kat Williams tell it he was supposed to Claude....... In all seriousness love this movie and remeember crying laughing first time seeing this in theater. Spidey in the house.

This movie is my favorite movie ever, me and my brother watched this movie all the time before he died..can't help but think about big bro everytime I see it 💯
40:10 You're not too far off. In the original script, Ray got in the trunk of the car trying to escape. Claude didn't know until he opened it. Claude knocked him out, because he didn't want to get in trouble. This was actually filmed, but it got cut out.
It seems like people didn't come around on this as a classic until years after it was released. I think the fact that they were innocent really put an underlying somber tone over the whole movie that viewers weren't ready for initially. It's actually really sad at points.
Exactly! Around 2009 maybe 2010 is where everyone claim it was a classic cause all this police brutality that’s been going on and speaking for innocent men in jail. This movie wasn’t shown a lot til maybe 2010 on BET and shit
12:00 That’s Lisa Nicole Carson…she had some memorable roles in a few good flicks worth checking: DEVIL IN A BLUE DRESS, JASON’S LYRIC, EVE’S BAYOU, LOVE JONES
Oh she definitely had two nice "roles". 😁 But seriously she hade some mental health issues that hurt her career. I think she's in a better place now though.
The song playing in the opening credits is a remake by a group called Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes and the song is called 'Wake Up Everybody" The original is much better than the movie version. Lol
This is a very memorable movie...so, memorable that I guarantee you that you will be having a conversation with someone and a line from the movie will come up. Also the late rapper: Heavy D is the grave digger and Rick James is Spanky, of Club Spanky.

The title of the movie Life has a double meaning in that it talks about their prison sentence 20 to life particularly for a crime they didn't commit by a corrupt crooked young sheriff, but also how life can pass you by if you take it for granted because it's so short, fragile and unpredictable. But life's moral to the story shows you're never too old or too late to live your life to its fullest extent, especially with your 'friends' those you truly care about.
Funny part about that is Claude don't realize that Ray saved his life what it was spanky was going to kill him right then and there but Ray talked him out of it

Sad he crossed the gun line to get shot. He knew being gay in the 40/50 he would never be accepted and chosed death instead.
