This movie shifts from comedy to drama several times, a very unique and underrated film.
Exactly. A lot of people forget that the movie was a reflection of an all too common reality. Too many black men wrongly convicted
@@shantel903exactly it's really messed up on my end of it and seeing how people w my skin color were(and still are); the penal colony was another form of slavery imo because it never targeted Caucasian men unless they were destitute or associated with people most others would have looked down on so although it's painful in ways to watch because I'm Caucasian and it makes me wanna call the ancestors just to take them to task; it's also a beautiful movie and I think it's genius they portrayed a lot of hard truth and made it to where people would take it in thinking its pure comedy and easily palatable but then it smacks you w real shit. Btw wyclefs best song is by far new day and I think it deserves more plays than it has the montage where everyone starts passing makes me cry every time stg 😭
"I da pappy" is my FAVORITE part of this entire movie. You can tell by everyone's reactions that they didn't expect Bernie Mac to claim the baby like that!

This is one of the most underrated movies ever made. With their chemistry, I cannot believe Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawerence didn’t make more movies together. They were absolutely hilarious.

This is one of my fav movies, funny yet a sad truth of some of our history in this country. The cast were pretty good, and the last segment about your mom cornbread just made me hungry.
I'm so happy you guys reacted to this, this might be Eddie Murphy's most underrated film, this is one of his top movies and it doesn't get enough credit!

Rick James looked really good in this film, I almost didn't recognize him 1st time I saw it. Speaking of legends, if you love this you'll love Eddie Murphy's HARLEM NIGHTS. Another classic in case yall haven't seen it.

You have to watch Coming to America to find out what happened to the two old guys in Trading Places.
By the time Ray (Eddie) stole his wallet, Claude had already had his money taken, so he couldn't pay his bill and that's how Spanky took him and was about to drown him. So regardless, Ray saved him from that. Of course, he saved him by having him be his partner on this trip to get the alcohol, which then led to them getting framed for that murder. It's a little hard to 100% blame Ray, though.
The character of "Spank" was played by the great Rick James.

LIFE is one of those CLASSIC movies that after watching a hundred times, I only can watch half way through......Its SO fuckin hilariously funny, but SO fuckin sad/depressing......especially when they start aging. Makes you think of yourself getting old. Especially when Martin sees his reflection in that car window, sees how much he's aged. It ends great, but damn it sucks what they went through. Imagine all the truly innocent people in prison.......anyway.....Again, LEGENDARY movie, but sad as hell.....

I do understand that Claude's life was about to "begin" in a way. But you have to remember Claude had a past and it caught up to him that night whether or not he ran into Ray. In fact he might have been killed that night if it wasn't for Ray

God this was a great movie! The heavyweights of comedy came together and made magic once again! Great review guys! The guy who was the real father of that baby, is named Bokeem Woodbine. He was in Dead President’s. You’ll notice that many black actors were recycled in these movies especially during the late 80’s and early 90’s. That’s how “closed” Hollywood was to African American actors. Thank God that you all are reviewing these movies 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

As funny as this movie is, the enormous amount of heart it has makes it more endearing after each watch. It's also a reminder of the great talents we have lost through the years like Rick James, Heavy D, and Bernie Mac. Timeless classic!

A lot of the actors in this (and a lot of the older films you have watched) were tried and true standup comedians which is a part of why these movies are so much funnier than a lot of what we see now.
