Actually it's not useless at all. If you had electricity knowledge you would notice that the switch acts as a bypass for the coil which directly connects the amp to the speaker; Otherwise when the switch is off, the bass is amplified.

You don't understand, this is 2 ways, one direct from switch to speaker and when switch is off the sound is going from filter to speaker 😉
