    They look happy ! And beautiful ! Same here in Florida. They don't like the full sun here either. They liked my planter boxes on the front of our house. Hmmm.

    Mine has been growing indoors in the UK for 5 years+, it finally naturally produced a flower (no tricks used), and it's currently growing a lovely looking fruit. Exactly like the one you showed in the video. It isn't large but it's lovely to see nonetheless.

      @@KarnivorousKeyz We harvested it around 1 month ago and you will be glad to know the taste was so worth the wait! It was beautiful and so nice 🍍, just like shop ones if not better.
      I have replanted the pups and they are growing well at the moment :)
      Good luck with your fruit and if you have waited such a long time it might be okay to expose it to banana / apple and then see as this sometimes gets them to flower.

    I'm currently attempting to grow two pineapples. I cut the top off about 1" into the pineapple itself.
    I allowed them to dry for two days and then planned them. I cut back the dead splines, and now im waiting for them to grow. I hope I did it correctly...

    Calcium carbide makes acetylene gas. Napthaleneacetic acid/water or B naphylacetic acid (BNA)/water makes ethylene. Either will work. You can mix the carbide in water first and pour it in after it reacts for a bit. The reaction is exothermic so some of the damage to the crown could occur from the heat of the reaction if you pour it into the crown directly with water.
    Carbide cannons are pretty cool. Calcium carbide is also used in old fashioned miner's headlamps, lanterns used on carriages, vintage gas generators used for welding, and early automobile headlamps. It comes in a variety of grain sizes. The cannon carbide is the finest grain. Probably the stuff for lamps is the most common. It looks like little gray pebbles of crushed rock and comes in a small paint can with a foil inner seal.

    • @ir8d8rads
      @ir8d8rads 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@florencetomi2223 From eating the pineapple? There are several fruits including bananas that are ripened with ethylene. I expect the USDA and the FDA are aware. From the web: "CaC2 produced acetylene can contain toxic traces of arsine and phosphine. This C2H2 gas is considered to impact on the nervous system due to the reduction of oxygen supply to the brain which can initiate cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular dysfunction and others". That's direct toxicity from reduced oxygen while breathing acetylene. I doubt that this would effect fruit from initiating the fruiting response with dilute acetylene traces in carbide water. Without a study that is just an educated guess. Yes I am involved in cancer research.

    So I have about 5-7 pineapple plants close together like yours. Mine have been growing the last 4-5 yrs. The first time they produced they died, from what I thought, was fruit flies. Until recently they haven’t produced anything since (3-4 yrs). In April I realized they both had a fist sized pineapple growing. And everything was fine until this morning I found them completely yellow. I even bought netted bags to place over them to protect from bugs. It’s worked until now. Or so I thought. They get plenty of sun & rain (I live in Tampa). But I still feel I’m doing something wrong. I have an entire garden in a separate area that grows beautifully with no problems! I just can’t get these things to grow to their full potential. I’m tempted to cut them down and start over in a new area. Any thoughts?

Using calcium carbide is forbidden in many countries. Just be aware. I would think that within the 6+ months for fruit to form and mature that the arsenic would have been washed away! I'm not an expert at all, just looking for assistance in encouraging my pineapples to engage in what God created them to produce!! Happy pineapple growing!!!

      I've grown my pineapple 🍍 plant for 2 and a half year's and I have tried the calcium carbide method step by step just like you've described....but nothing has happened? And now it's currently 3 year's old and still no flower.... it's a very healthy plant...but let me know what you think?

      That’s odd, but sometimes you have to repeat twice
