    Although it is not designed specifically for use with the xTool M1, we show how we utilize it and it works perfectly for us. 🙂

    in lightburn you can assign layers by colors on the bottom of the page and you can tell each layer what to do

      Very good point. Thank you for sharing. The new version of xTool has color layers so I manually set each action or shape in a color to perform the same action.

    Thank you but how do you even connect to Lightburn manually via USB? Lightburn wants to know the dimensions of the work area for Xtool M1 Ultra, so I'm stuck. I suppose I could research this but is this something you have covered in one of your videos? Many thanks!

    Hallo
    Is it possible, please, to make a video explaining how we can connect the Lightburn program to the Xtool M1 and how we can use the M1 camera with Lightburn?
    Thank you,
    your follower from Germany

      I am so sorry but the last time I checked, the M1 did not interface with Lightburn. I have seen instructions for using the xTool D1 with Lightburn but I am not aware if they will make something for M1 or not.

    Im just curious, as i am awaiting delivery for the M1 and pretty new to the laser world.
    Whata the advantage to using lightburn? Why do people feel its necessary?
    Any help is appreciated, thank you x

      First... we are excited to hear another person getting involved with laser engraving and cutting. We hope you find a way to share your creations with us some day. Now to answer your question. Lightburn does not directly control the M1. Lightburn was able to work with different type images that allow for super clean laser cuts. Since making this video, xTool Creative Space (XCS) has released new versions and it can now work with the same files LightBurn does. At this point, I dont think you need to purchase Lightburn. Stick with XCS. If you run into problems or have questions, reach out to us and we will do what we can to help you.

      Lightburn is far superior. I know my way around both fairly well but I only use Lightburn. Thats like comparing photoshop to MS paint.

    How can you laser both sides of a tumblers in set with the xtool m1

    • @Poor_Mans_DIY
      @Poor_Mans_DIY  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Measure the circumference of the tumbler and make an image the same length, the image will engrave all around the tumbler.

    Which version of Lightburn are we to use? Gcode, DSP or Galvo? I'm thinking it's Gcode (like for the D1) but I'm not 100%. Thanks!

      I am using Lightburn 1.4.05. At the time of the video, Lightburn did not interface with the M1 at all. I simply used Lightburn to create SVG files, which I imported into XCS to use with the M1. XCS is now capable of making SVGs but all the created cut lines are welded and cannot be ungrouped, so I still use Lightburn to create an SVG and import to XCS. I hope this helps. Thank you for taking the time to watch our video and for your question.

    Help please explain how to set up and use the xTool P2 CO2 Laser with light burn, no one explains this very good

      I am truly sorry but I do not own a CO2 so I am unable to explain how it works. Some xTool lasers do work directly with LightBurn, I recommend you contact the helpdesk. They are very helpful.

    How do you get the SVG file into XCS? You said you "drag in into XCS. " How you drag it in?

    • @Poor_Mans_DIY
      @Poor_Mans_DIY  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      if you are not familiar with dragging and dropping it is okay. All you have to do is open XCS, then click the "Image" icon on the top left of the screen. a navagation window will open and you just find your way to where you stored the svg file and select it. If you have additional questions, feel free to ask.

      I am familiar with drag and drop, and even though I can drag and drop a JPG file, I get the message that XCS cannot open the SVG file. When I use the image icon in XCS it does not recognize the existing SVG files. Any suggestions?@@Poor_Mans_DIY

    Please help. I am wanting to try it out to use like you but it will not work unless I pick a laser of course xtool is not listed. Which laser do I select? Thank you

    • @Poor_Mans_DIY
      @Poor_Mans_DIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the late reply. You can select any laser when opening Lightburn for the first time. When you work on an image and save it as an svg file, it does not matter what laser you selected. I hope this helps!

    l did an engraving/cutting the other day and it came out really good but then l realised l had made a mistake so tried to do it again but now my m1 is refusing to do any cuts even a basic outline won't cut,
    do you have any ideas what could be the problem ?

    • @Poor_Mans_DIY
      @Poor_Mans_DIY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My first guess is a possible problem with the lens but I am by no means an expert. I highly recommend reaching out to customer support at xTools.com. I have had to utilize them myself and their customer service was incredible. They were very helpful and in my case, they quickly sent me a replacement part. I am sorry I was unable to offer any other help.

    Bonjour, c'est très bien mais comment utiliser lightburn puisqu'il ne reconnaît pas le xtool m1 et pour utiliser lightburn il faut faire un choix de matériel au départ sinon le logiciel se ferme
    Merci pour votre aide

      @Poor_Mans_DIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Je suis désolé pour la réponse tardive. Malheureusement, le M1 n'est pas fait pour fonctionner directement avec Lightburn. Le D1 et les autres lasers xTool fonctionnent avec Lightburn, mais pas avec le M1.

    The title was "How to use Lightburn with xtool m1" but you never show that!
    You are using LB to "MODIFY" the file and not to setup and send to the laser.
    I that case you could be using "ANY" of the other file mod/file prep programs like Gimp, Adobe PS, or even ImagR.
    We want to know how setup the M1 as a working laser "IN" light burn.
    Otherwise this is just click bait!!!

      Mr Somerville, we respect your opinion and have no objections if you wish to give us a thumbs down and leave your comment as we do not delete positive or negative comments. Even people who spitefully give a thumbsdown on all our videos. We make videos for fun and definitely not for the money. We spend more than we make so there is absolutely no need for us to utilize clickbait methods. I am not sure you actually watched or listened but my wife opened by stating "...this is our instructional video on how we use it". No where have either of us indicated Lightburn can be used to directly control the M1. There was a time that xTool had posted instructions for using Gcode within Lightburn to control the M1 but there are no signs of the instructions any longer. In addition, the description of the video reads "In this video, we show you how we use Lightburn with xTool Creative Space (XCS), for our xTool M1" We point out that we use LB with XCS, NOT LB to control M1. And as you pointed out, the title reads "...use Lightburn WITH xtool M1". Never stated is was to operate or control M1. If we utilized Gimp or the other programs, we would have worded it the same. If I may be so bold and not an atempt to insult you in any manner, if this topic is so important to you, would it not be better to go directly to xTool for support, instead of relying on an old couple on TH-cam? xTool support is actually inredibly good. I have reached out to them on a few issues and they were fast, courteous and extremely helpful. None-the-less, we still appreciate that you took the time to watch/skim through our video and take the time to leave a comment. We wish you good luck obtaining a resolution from xTool. If you wish to share what you learn, we would greatly appreciate it.

      @@Poor_Mans_DIY heard exactly what was said at the intro by the lady.
      That still doesn't excuse the " Bait and Switch"...... "Technically I didn't say we found a solution or work around" video title which states " How to Use Lightburn with xTool M1" (cut and pasted directly from your title).
      I think you know exactly what I'm getting at.
      Also as you stated you do these video's for fun but you have to know that some of us take this art form VERY serious as it's how we make a living!
      Every video that doesn't help us or waste our time has an impact that you may not experience .
      I sure I'm not the only one that feels that way since the video has just under a 4.5% "Thumbs up to rating at this time.
      Also nether Gimp, Adobe, or ImagR are hardware controllers (Apples to Floor wax) but just image modifiers.
      I just going by what the average person would think the title implies vs what you had in mind.
      Why not just name it something like "How to use LB to accomplish whats lacking from XCS" so as not have any misunderstandings?

    • @Poor_Mans_DIY
      @Poor_Mans_DIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am getting the distinct feeling you just enjoy trying to troll people and it is quite fun. You indicate you are VERY serious and it's how you make a living. I mean no disrespect but you should consider a different career. Anyone that goes to non-professionals for advice as opposed to going to the source for a technical solution has no idea how to make a living from this. I cannot imagine a lawyer going to TH-cam for info instead of law books. And for someone that cannot afford to waste time, you sure spend a lot of time typing silly messages. Since you are an expert on TH-cam analytics and point out the 4.5% Thumbs up rating, you probably should look at all of our videos. The analytics are similar on everything. You also pointed out what the average person would think about the title, feel free to spend time looking at all our social media. We dont have hundreds or even dozens of comments, but you are the only one with the problem , while others have reached out to thank us. because you need the info to make a living, it so happens that I am actually work in the IT world so allow me to help you. Here is a link directly to xTool support. The makers of the M!, who know more about the M1 than anyone else. Thy should be your first and only point of contact for information about the M1. www.xtool.com/pages/contact-us. xTool also has a Help Center where you can obtain more information at support.xtool.com/hc/en-us. If you wish to make a living, I recommend you sell your M1 and purchase a D1 Pro 40W. The D1 is able to cut material significantly quicker than the M1, which will allow you to produce more products for your living. The really good news about the D1 is that xTool support pages have instructions for using Lightburn TO CONTROL the D1. LB is not used WITH the D1. Wait... the word WITH does not grammatically infer controlling but instead, it means to work alongside. Hmmm. I guess the title may be correct after all. Anyhow, I wish you the very best with the D1 which will increase the amount you make for a living by a multiple of four. That is great news.

      @@Poor_Mans_DIY Here we go again..... No one is trolling you but just pointing out a disservice to the community of interested laser business owners.
      Do you not realize that over 90% of the knowledge, and fixes are found by so-called "Amateurs" like yourself?
      Most of these manufacturers only listen or change their products when they see their customers might go elsewhere!
      In reality "NO" laser engraver made today should be using proprietary software anymore.
      Laser pecker, learned that lesson quickly and changed for the better gaining many new customers.by making all their new machines "Light Burn" compatible!
      I mean "Come On sir".., even the cheap machines use Gcode and a RUIDA board to control their machine. That's why "Glow Forge" is struggling now!
      Lastly if most of your videos are less than a 10% thumbs up I wouldn't be saying it like it's a good thing.
      Whether you believe it or not you owe a certain responsibility to those that view your content to help and not hinder their growth in this hobby, job or career choice.
      Please remember this is just constructive criticism that others may not be telling you.

      @@ShanqDad Mr Troll. Allow me to apologize. I am sorry business is so slow that you have so much time to troll and are not making a living. I am sorry you did not purchase a laser that is more conducive to running a business. I am sorry you do not understand English and cannot comprehend the meaning of ...WITH...M1. I am sorry you were too lazy to read the first pinned comment that reads "Although it is not designed specifically for use with the xTool M1, we show how we utilize it and it works perfectly for us.". I am sorry you are feeling foolish about your "constructive criticism" but are unable to accept a constructive reply. Good luck with your business. I am sorry I did not realize professionals (doctors, lawyers, graphic designers, programmers, etc) go to TH-cam first because amateur's suggestions are the true innovations to their work. Wow. apologizing so many times to a busy Troll is exhausting.
