Learning everything I can about Radio Caroline & the other offshore radio stations has been fun. I think Radio Nuts are everywhere. North America had one big station that was like none other during the golden era of Rock/POP Radio. The "Big 8 CKLW" out of Winsor Ontario Canada serving the Detroit/Winsor radio market plus many other states & provinces. It set the trend with its incredible music director Rosalie Trombley, the hit predictor/career maker, and its mega signal on 800KHz that covered much of the of the North American Continent. Their were other big stations in many places but the home of Motown had the one and only CKLW. The LW in CKLW stood for London & Winsor Ontario Canada.

I've made a bit of a study of Radio Caroline from far away North America. Your fans are everywhere. The original equipment including consoles & turntables were from the GATES Radio Company of Quincy Illinois USA. Most often offshore radio used Gates and RCA Transmitters. The consoles & turntable pre-amps were Valve (British) or Vacuum Tube (US & Canada) units.

I enjoyed this video , it reminded me of when i went aboard in the Dover era. The studios look great now a lot different from then. Great to see that the dream is being kept alive. Radio Caroline The Legend lives On.

The now legal legend lives on, but not the exciting clandestine version anymore.
