    Thank you for this. Yes spatzele with sauerbraten, nothing could be better. Did like the desert idea. Maybe just a little Asbach Added to the caramelization of the apples. Spatzele was always a favorite of mine when living in Germany.

    We eat spatsle with chicken schnitzel. We also include it with our holiday meals - with our Christmas or Thanksgiving dinner (turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, peas, salad, tamales, etc.) or Easter (ham, potatoes, peas, salad, and capirotada).

    Your videos are amazing and thanks for all the ideas. But it's absolutely important on what time i have to watch your video, because it's hard to not get hungry while watching.

    The one with the apples looks so good. I will have to try that next time I have some leftovers. I'm used to having spatzle with jaeger schnitzel.

    I really want to try the spaetzle with hazelnuts. Sounds great. I like the spaetzle puffer you made. Must try making them too. I am really enthused now. Last week when I made spaetzle I served it with rouladen, cabbage and a potato bake. I cooked the rouladen in my slow cooker with lots of gravy. Wolfgang gave it a thumbs up and so did the rest of the family. Now to impress them with hazelnuts and spaetzle. I wish my mother-in-law was still alive. She loved to hear of my cooking exploits.

      Oh Sue, she would be thrilled! Thanks for watching. The Rouladen sound delicious! I also need to make some.

    I make Spätzle we actually have 100-year-old metal crank maker to do this I placed some celery seed in the mix then after I boil them and chicken stock, I drained them and cooked chopped up bacon and onions, then fry them all in butter let me tell you they don’t last long. It seems like there’s a lot of variations of this dish, but this was how my stepfather would make them, so I continue the tradition🇩🇪

    Morning Marta, some wonderful ideas there, we never did get to eat spätzle this time but we did have many wonderful meals, Hamburg has so many fantastic restaurants and my cousin knows them all. I'm going to struggle to do the same here in Birmingham when they visit us next.

      Oh I want to come too;) I am glad you had lovely time in Hamburg with your family. But British food is also really nice. 3 weeks ago we went for a wedding to London and I had amazing chicken and leek pie. I have already printed off a recipe, because I would love to try it!

    You can buy frozen or packaged Spätzle at Aldi here in the states not as good of course but not bad for people to try them. They don’t want to go through all the work.

    Hi Marta. I would love to try kasespatzle or the dessert recipe you made, but my daughter's are picky eaters and they just want plain spatzle (they're the ones I told you last week took my spatzle grater to school with them). I may have to surprise them with one of these recipes and see if they'll try it. Thanks for the great content!

      Hahaha! I See. Thankfully Max loves Spätzle with everything. I hope that they will like one of those variations! if not, they still can eat them plain, right? And you can have some cheese with them;)

    A Schwab would say, "What can't you eat spätzle with?" Btw, I waited the whole video wondering if you'd get to spätzle mit apfel. We did ours a bit different. Cook up your apfel kompott nicely chunky and thick, nicely with cinnamon and sugar. First then fry the spätzle in a pan (with butter or lard). Spätzle and kompott are served separately. (Have also seen done with plums.)

    I hoped you show lentils with spätzle its so good even as a vegan now i eat it all the time but the lentzils have to be super sour like coffing when you smell it :) I use smoked tofu in the lentils to give it a smoked touch. Try some limburger and or gorgonzola with käsespätzle its rly great

    A friend who lives in Spain recently vacationed in Germany. Because she knew I had just made Sauerbraten for another good friend of ours from High School, she was looking forward to eating authentic German Sauerbraten. She says she asked for it in every restaurant they went to that week, but none of them offered it. Could this be true?

    • @TheCotzi
      @TheCotzi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes sauerbraten is mostly served at christmas time in the common restaurants

    • @cooking-the-world
      @cooking-the-world  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, Sauerbraten is regional dish that means that is not served everywhere. In Frankfurts restaurants you wouldn't also find Sauerbraten. We have to drive to Franconia to have it;) Form what I know there are 6 areas where they serve Sauerbraten and thats Baden, Rheinland, Dresden and Saxony, Franconia and Thurgau. The rest of Germany has other specialities on their menus:)
