It's just not a good game. I love open worlds and I love UBI. It should've been a lay up, right down my alley-but it ended up being death by 1000 cuts. A hard G-rated criminal underworld. Forced stealth missions in a game with bad stealth gameplay. A single speeder to drive-no stealing, everything is just decoration. Lockpicking, hacking, treasure hunting, all worst in class. It's just not a good game.
As a big Star Wars fan the initial trailers had me feeling very meh about this game, I dont think anyone was looking for a smuggler/scroundrel game (just look at the reception of the Han Solo movie) and if they did a custom character would have been a much better choice. Crazy they went this route when the universe is so rich in stories.
Personally, I think it can work, it's just way harder to do, when the story is focused on a never before seen character, who you have to learn and care about, rather than say a Han Solo or Lando based game. And yeah, I know Solo lost money and didn't become a big hit, doesn't mean there isn't still a possibility, if the right people work on it.
I'd take a well made story focused game, based on Lando, without a second thought. It's possible for a game like Outlaws to work, but when they make a game about a new and never seen before character AND make the story boring, they'll likely never win.
IMHO it could have worked, if they made a "GTA in space" - sadly the game does not offer that much player freedom. Also a better looking protagonist would have helped. Gamers spend millions (or even billions) on cosmetic mtx to make their avatar look better/cooler. No one can tell me that wouldn't have sold the game better.
How does one "leave" a game that is already completed? It really shouldn't be forgotten how insane this post DLC era is after the peak analogue release era...
I am looking forward to playing this - unfortunately the negativity around it has convinced me to get it at sale price, oddly I haven't seen it on sale once
@Destin Can’t wait for that “Dear Ubisoft are you ok?” Video. I’m sure it’ll be right after that “Dear XBox” video you’re working on. Keep all the great content coming.
I think we all wanted to play a Cad Bane or Boba Fett type badass character that could bust jaws and be some muscle for crime-lords. Like, that'd be soo badass, twirling blasters getting a fearsome reputation.
They moved Massive developers to this game and left Division 2 hanging, same with Avatar. I would spend my $$ on Division DLCs and Div3 and not any of these games.
He was always stepping away to work on Division 3. Division is a massive seller; it was stupid to not make D3 a few years ago they have realised it too late. .
Screen time is in the control of the Player, so ANY GAME that's clamoring for "screen time" and begging for sales, is just outta luck!! I have enough installed on my PC to play that it will be a while before I uninstall something to play something new.
Heartland honestly could've been a cool extraction shooter. They only did an beta play test that I played in. The gameplay was fun but it definitely needed some balancing and probably would've needed expansion late game content wise.
Maybe the creative director was holding the game back. I grabbed the platinum for Outlaws early. The game was surprisingly punishing and a lot of players are soft babies so hence the complaints. Anyway, I'm gonna replay this gem of a game on PS5 pro because the rumour is that the new patch (around the release of the dlc) will blow people away on PS5 PRO.
Im sure the game will sell some on steam, but I dont think any changes to the game are going to make that big of a difference. The game has lots of problems. Ubi are going to pay the price for thier decisions.
Wow not sure I’ve seen that before. A creative director leaving while an active product is out. I could be wrong and it’s happened before but I can’t say I’m shocked.
When announced, I was expecting a Ghost Recon in the Star Wars universe. I gave the game a chance, but it didn't click. I really disliked the character you're forced to play. KOTOR is the standard that today's Star Wars games fails to meet. You can play as a goody goody or completely evil. I don't want to play a cookie cutter shallow character. I might put up with it if the combat was great in Outlaws, but it was not. Hard to believe the same people made The Division.
I haven’t played Star Wars Outlaws yet. But I am really looking forward to playing it. I own it twice! That being said, I think woke impacted this game. There was controversy surrounding the protagonist. So I think that too, has played a part in people picking up this game.
Julian did not do anything impressive either with Avatar - not sure why he was appointed to these roles in the first place. The poor avatar critics should have been a warning for Julian's role.
I liked SW Outlaws unfortunately it's in rough state with VRAM issues. I hope next update will improve it but I won't be touching this game until next year. Too much going to right now in gaming world, like CoD: BO6 :)
to me this is a telltale sign that gaming is starting to fail more and more over critics and the way gamers think everythign thing has to do with wokeness now
Anyways, I'm about to buy Star Wars Outlaws once I finish Jedi Survivor because I like Star Wars. I loved the Acolyte, Kenobi, Andor, Last Jedi, and Mandalorian too. Tootles to the director. I hope you land on your feet or head.
the worst part of this is that no one cares about Division 3 or anything about that franchise. even if you enjoyed that series most gamers didn't care about it

Not a chance, it's a bad game.
It was announced a year ago that Gherity would leave Outlaws for Division 3 once Outlaws was released. None of this is new.
The gaming TH-cam “news” pipeline scrapes the bottom of the barrel on the daily
Ya its also pretty normal for a creative director to change projects when the one they are working on is completed
What was creative in that game anyways 💀
It takes a high level of creativity to take a beautiful PCAP actress and downgrade her game model to look like some androgynous weirdo.
How badly they butchered the actress’s face was pretty creative 🙈
Female Han Solo cold clocking armored Stormtroopers with one swing of her hand
The money laundering 😂
Skill system I guess?
Play as a smuggler…… who’s not a smuggler. Play as a bad guy….. where you can’t be a bad guy.
Ubisoft and BioWare are hot messes. Both companies are really floundering right now.
Letting me create my own character would be creative
There's different levels of creativity, old chap
I will MAYBE buy Star Wars Outlaws next year when it's fixed, all DLC is included and the bugs are fixed. $20
Still won’t be worth it, I played it, the entire game is boring AF.
@@jessey1729 Thanks for the feedback. I guess I will play other games that interest me more.
Damn I wouldn't play it if someone paid me the $70.
I thought the plan was Julian Gherity to step away from Star Wars and go back to lead Division 3 after Div 3 was confirmed? What’s the uproar about?
clicks
Dude this game had so MUCH potential what a shame
I do agree. Did not love the intro :/
I was so pumped for it. Subbed to Ubi+ the day it released. It was fun for the first bit.. but it faded pretty quick.
And unlike let's say, cyberpunk, they probably won't be able to save this one, it's too late and the base game itself is boring and mid
I thought it was a great game
@@jaredgeorge3604 me too. Sad.

I want a Star Wars game where I “feel” the way I felt playing Skyrim
The sales were Ubi softer then they thought... "badum tzzz... " ill show myself out...
They choose the most boring characters for this game: use jedis or mandalorians, not these boring thieves.
Wrong! It could have been great if it was focused and Han Solo or Lando. They need to stop making every game open world.
It could've been cool angle if it wasn't a hard G-rated game starring a character that wasn't allowed to have a character flaw.
I'd take a well made story focused game, based on Lando, without a second thought.

Then you haven't been looking, cdkeys has it for £19.99 right now.
"bit of a rocky launch" understatement of the century 😂
His words about it being soft is what was soft.
The game was a bomb, period. DEI hiring and game design doesn’t work.
+1

also hearing all this info just makes me hate the AAA game space even more than i already do. trying to "mobilize" devs just seems gross to me

Woke game When they pick for the game to have female character that's what made that game fail
Y’all really hate seeing anybody that’s not a white male.
He was always stepping away to work on Division 3. Division is a massive seller; it was stupid to not make D3 a few years ago they have realised it too late. .
I loved Star Wars Outlaws. I’m pumped for the Casino Royale style DLC 1 Wild Card.
AC director has to go as well.
Ubisoft needs to clean house
Screen time is in the control of the Player, so ANY GAME that's clamoring for "screen time" and begging for sales, is just outta luck!! I have enough installed on my PC to play that it will be a while before I uninstall something to play something new.

If that's the case, the current DA Creative Director must also be worried right now :P
More gaslighting from ubisoft

The Creative Director has just moved onto The Division 3. This was announced before the game released.
I mean we only did what Ubiosoft asked us ight? We got comfortable not owning their games. I don't see the issue here.
I don’t remember the last time I bought or was excited for a Ubisoft game

Shame. The sense of immersion in the Star Wars universe was excellent.

Imagine if you got to play as a fully kitted mando
and you guys gave it a 7/10
All these games needs is different developers. Preferably non Western
A creative director for one of the most uncreative games ever. Good luck finding a new job
so sick of games being released as half baked and gamers reduced to becoming beta testers. The game was only made in four years btw.
I liked SW Outlaws unfortunately it's in rough state with VRAM issues. I hope next update will improve it but I won't be touching this game until next year. Too much going to right now in gaming world, like CoD: BO6 :)
I actually like the game and will be buying it on Steam. Had a better time with that than GOW Ragnarok and Horizon FW
They should have scrapped this idea and made Shadows of the Empire 2 with Dash Rendar as the main character eh!
Gonna buy it for 20-30$
ya hes moved over to the division. that was announced back in September. nothing to do with the game. get your facts right.
hey D, 3.9 out of 5 is almost a 4 out of 5..........
I’ll buy the game just trying to finish dragons dogma first
Get woke go broke
I to exit my job when my job is done
Division III I can't wait
i liked the game, was fun.
Ofc. Come in, shit in and leave
Go woke go broke
Great news. Remove the bloat.
I enjoyed that game.
to me this is a telltale sign that gaming is starting to fail more and more over critics and the way gamers think everythign thing has to do with wokeness now
Is Star Wars worse than dragon age ?
You hate to see it! 😂
Good.
76 is a deaths kiss now?
Why this game was a great
*Mid* that's the game. They sooooo wanna copy Han Solo.
Anyways, I'm about to buy Star Wars Outlaws once I finish Jedi Survivor because I like Star Wars. I loved the Acolyte, Kenobi, Andor, Last Jedi, and Mandalorian too. Tootles to the director. I hope you land on your feet or head.
Thanks to woke
Low quality click bait
Sucks
Hahahaha
Suck it
Just wasnt a good game
If the AI didn’t feel so dumb it would have been better. That really threw me off.
the worst part of this is that no one cares about Division 3 or anything about that franchise. even if you enjoyed that series most gamers didn't care about it
Also, it's annoying that everyone always has to make everything political
Why is there an exclamation point at the end of the title? wtf
I love that Massive's studio is in the same city where I live
Outlaws was great imo. Shame.
You liked it? That's good to hear. I just did not love the intro but I have heard it gets better. I think the general consensus is that it's "fine"
Outlaws is a good game. But to enjoy it you have to close social media and play the game.
@@DestinL the way it went for me was: liked it, then started to lose me, then got sucked in and couldn’t put it down.
