    Good and honest review! Thank you!

    Thanks for the review. If you configure the Wi-Fi on the watch, a usable keyboard appears. Why it can't be used to write messages is beyond me.

    Hello, thanks for the honest review, really useful! Quick question: are the steps counted daily? Just bought a device for my son and the steps seem to add up...they do not reset after one day. Not sure if this is the design or if our product is faulty? Thank you so much!

      If you swipe all the way down on your iPhone/Android app, under the Badges you'll find Steps, Coins, Adventures. If you tap on Steps it will give you a weekly breakdown, it also shows current daily steps. It's not as advanced as iPhone / Apple Watch but does the job :)

    Thanks for your review, it helps a lot. Could you please also advise - does it make sense to choose the dataplan with a lot of SMS included or the messaging is going via your data plan, like WhatsApp, etc? The calls are being done via the normal GSM network, I presume?

    • @JakeOski
      @JakeOski  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Glad it helped! All messages can only be sent and received via app so they’re data only and calls are done via gsm. It doesn’t eat up loads of data mind

      @@JakeOski thanks for your quick answer! Actually, I was worried about the dataplan too, as our mobile providers (Germany) are selling them with IOT plans like 500 mb and 128 kbps speed. Guess that would be enough, if one sticks to texting and voice mssaging only. :) Presume the watch is using WiFi for messaging, when at home?

    • @JakeOski
      @JakeOski  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah 500mb is plenty for what it’s used for and you can use WiFi when at home :)

    What better alternative, Not Apple and Not costing 200+ are there though?

      Not really, they're all fairly bulky and each has some downsides. This does all the basics comms we need for now despite the annoying limitations and app crashes.

    Is there any way to load other apps onto the watch? I'd like to run OwnTracks on it as that would make it easy to use as a presence device for home automation.

    • @JakeOski
      @JakeOski  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s a closed OS so you can’t add any apps beyond what’s Xplora offers sadly…

    I only have my name ‘dad’ showing on his messages to be able to send me a text - how do I add/sync to be allow my son to send them messages/ pre written texts ?

      As in to send messages to someone else than you? You need add that person to your child contacts through the app on your phone

    On your final comment about re-buying or not, you said you would buy an Apple Watch.So my question. Is possible with an Apple Watch Geofence, real time and history?

    Do you need to click the refresh icon in the app to get the latest location every time? Or it will refresh automatically?

    • @JakeOski
      @JakeOski  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It refreshes on its own but in intervals so I always smash that refresh button if I need an accurate location.

    I don't think thats a good product in general, because the GPS seems to be faulty. After switching the watch on in the morning, my son could be tracked on the way to school but after a while the GPS or the status updates stops working. and we are not the only user having those BIG problem. So, no, the watch doesn't do what we bought it for, it's a buggy product and whats even annoying is the fact, that there is no "really" customer service available at XPLORA, even if you reach someone via email (after days waiting) they can't help...... so, is there a "better" product for kids out there (especially incl. school mode) or is this bad product the best on the market?

    • @JakeOski
      @JakeOski  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry to hear you're having so many problems with yours, thankfully the GPS seems to be fine with my daughter's one so far. Yeah the software is slow and glitchy - as mentioned in the vid, the random log outs are annoying too. We've looked at loads of alternatives and she'll end up with an Apple Watch soon, there are Series 6 and 7 going cheap on marketplace.

      @@JakeOski Yes, I have heard a lot about the Apple watches, unfortunately you need another Apple device and our household has turned to the Android world with all devices. But Android also has such watches. Unfortunately, they lack a school mode and our son is only 9, so we have to think about it. Thank you for your answer.

    • @JakeOski
      @JakeOski  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@therealsprint you can have a scheduled do not disturb on them too I guess? It’s defo part of the market that’s not really catered for. From all the kids-specific watches Xplora seems to be the best there is, which doesn’t say it’s brilliant. Good luck on your hunt though! :)

    • @therealsprint
      @therealsprint 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@JakeOski For us, the school mode is not exclusively about switching off notifications, but rather about the fact that no apps should be operated (distraction). But we will find something. Thanks.

    Hi, Do you know how to unmute the watch? When I give it a call, there is no ringer and it is silent, so my son sometimes misses our calls
