the problem i'm finding out is that I don't know which files are missing. I can remember one folder that I frequent often, but I don't remember every file that I've had in my folders so how can I know which ones are actually missing?
I had the great idea of making a folder called 'Folders'. inside it was empty folders. About 15 - 18. Its gone11. there zre 5 folders there now
Thanks for the help, for me it was just searching the file in the pc, cause not all, but only few files disappeared from my desktop, for no reason, my pc has no viruses at all.
Win11 can be strange sometimes :D I found the desktop folder where I could see the files that were not visible on the main desktop, so it´s really weird :D

Same happened with me, so did they come back automatically or u copied it from desktop folder to main desktop?
None of your solutions work. I cannot see/find My Documents folder in File Explorer in my desktop or on my laptop. This started right after I paid for another year of Microsoft 365 Family.
I went into my trash bin and typed the name of what I was looking for and found it
It was automatically uploaded to one drive and got remove from our system
You saved my life! I was working on smth and from one moment to another my whole folder just dissappeared. I just had to check the "show hidden folders" option and had my folder pack. thank your sooo much!

What is happening for me is that it will show all of my file contents in file explorer, but when i upload it all of the contents are missing

I discovered a method- 3 dots, Options, View Tab, Navigation pane,show all folders and it re-appeared

you have desktop , downloads , documents , pictures these folders inbuilt in the file explorer but mine pictures folder just disappeared after i turned off back up files and this folder was locked now the files are there but i cannot access them plus this picture folder is lost

This is not a solution - Windows uninstalled my Acid studio app along with all the created music, It also remoed about 200 photos. None of these are in any of the normal places. & Wave files are NOT incomputable. Microsoft Sux.. I'm going back to linux.

Nothing worked for me. After a recent update, several saved Word documents in a folder on my desktop disappeared. I hate Microsoft! Almost all of four years of work saved is now gone.
