FINALLY...for all of us FJ Cruiser owners around the country! It was always one of the MOST obvious choices for TFL. 230K miles on the one I drive and it's only getting started. Here in Northern New England (VT, NH, ME), it's the go-to vehicle for many. Having lived in Colorado (Lakewood) with friends in Summit County and Boulder the FJ is well respected...
I've been a Toyota mechanic for almost 6 years. Only seen one major failure (stretched chain) on one of these out of the dozens i've worked on. One of our loyal customers has a supercharged MT version pushing 200,000 miles.
Had one and passed it over to our son when he got his license. He loves it for its ability and we love it for its inherent safety. From day one it simply felt grounded and unlike all the kids driving civics and such there isn't the desire to drive it crazy fast because it is not what it's built to do. Ours is an 07 and only has 340k kms.
Mine has 131k miles (210k km) and feels like I've got a new vehicle. Just weird how they're built - you don't see many vehicles built as reliable. Just make sure your son corners safely because I've heard of many FJs flipping over.
Boy oh boy Tommy. You have never done a better choice in your life. These endless machines operate in the most brutal ragged terrains and like never ever break or heat up or even stuck. My buddy own a 2011 FJ cruiser with 350 thousands kilo (220k miles) and we have been over every kind of mountain , giant sand dunes, valleys, extreme rocky trails possible. And guess what, only engine oil every 5k and tyres and brake pads every couple of years. This car is a monster. It just go anywhere everywhere and never ever breaks. The ride quality is shockingly smooth off-roading like you are floating. Side note: that A-trac system is SUPER useful in the dunes, it can get you out of any bugging or stucking with a push of a button. This thing will outlast your jeep and defender and your future Bronco 100% with already 6 years of age 😂. One final tip; if i were you i would give it a 2 inches left with a set of 33’ tyres. It will operate perfect and will accomplish harder trails that other 35’ tyre vehicle might fail to finish. Enjoy the best ever car purchase in your life ❤️
The only thing that I dislike about my country is the terrible salaries and income inequality, because we definitely get the possibility (if you can afford it) to own the best off-roaders japanese car makers can offer.
@lightningboyten Beeing born in 2000, I still love my 2007 Toyota with just a clock and a simple 4-digit dial for range/consumption. Anything more (Head-Up Display, 10-inch Touch, etc) would distract a lot and make the ride uncomfortable for me. No need to be "always on" and surrounded by notifications. If I need a GPS or wanna listen to music via Spotify, I can still use my Smartphone for this and put it upright in the storage compartment behind the steering wheel.
@lightningboyten I was born in the 90s. Even though I love my iphone and ipad, the whole touch screen ergonomics doesn't translate well into cars when you're doing 65 on the interstate. It can be confusing and dangerous when you take your eyes off the road even for a split second to figure out how to turn down the heat. Why do you think Ford reverted to using dials and buttons?
Please stop giving this truck more publicity. It’s probably gonna be another 10 years before I can afford one LOL. JK but in my area they command 35K with 50k miles all day. Really ridiculous. 205k mile versions are still 18k.
Its to late for the FJ, stop giving the GX470 publicity. 4 months ago I got my 2008 gx470 for 13k and now people are asking +20k. We went years without anyone knowing you can get a better 4runner for less money and youtube just screwed all the poor people lol.
@@christopherwilson9140 I was half kidding but I think there is a lot of truth to what we are saying!! I’m still torn with what to get. I’m looking at Hummer H3 also.
@@MrGflan when I was GX shopping a 2009 H3 alpha + adventure package was going for 30k. But that is the unicorn edition. Most 5cyl are cheap and alphas arent much more. Some people with competition editions dont even know what they have. One of the blockers for me getting an H3 alpha was the fact that because of limited production run replacement parts are extremely scarce.

I am really looking forward to this so please make lot's of episodes on it. Sincerely, Toyota Nation. P.S take it to the 2021 FJ Summit!!! I will be going and hope to meet you guys from Ohio.
Finally! As an owner of a 2012 FJ (bought it used with 92K miles), I've been waiting for you to discover the awesomeness of this quirky-yet-capable Cruiser. I've owned an FJ40, and an FJ55 and loved them. My FJ Cruiser channels the spirit of the FJ heritage in an almost-modern package. Tommy, you nailed it!
Finally!!!!! So many enjoyable TFL hours watched and now you have my vehicle (I have 2009 TT edition) in the fleet. Looking forward to an off road/vs Jeep review. The entire TFL Team does a fantastic job of combining quality, detailed analysis with a modest sense of humour. Tommy sets the bar. Great content across all the channels.
I own a FJ, your FJ it will outlast that brand new Defender you bought ( and now resides at the dealer workshop) and it is true , I know of a lot of FJ owners in my area with 250-450k miles on them and they still hit the dunes every weekend
It already has outlasted the defender by a long shot haha that thing has like 55 X's the miles the stupid defender has. The defender didn't even make it to see day 3 lol
My 07 Tacoma has 225K with that same 4.0. I tow my camper with it, go off-road and pile the miles on for work as a real estate agent. get in turn the key and it GO time!
I work for a Toyota dealership as a porter and have the pleasure of driving these FJ's every so often. They don't show up that much but when they do, it's always something special. You bought the best spec of this by the way, Concrete Grey with the white roof on the last model year! I didn't even know this color was called that because it looks an awful lot like the Cement Grey on the Tacomas, Tundras, and 4Runners. Even the new Corolla Apex has this color now!
2015 Xterra Pro4X...newer, will go anywhere an FJ can, more comfortable to get into, has more room, more power, reliable, purpose built for the rugged outdoors with styling to match...and for less $$... which you can use to build it up how you want. Please TFL have the Xterra in your fleet! Just ask Nathan, he knows Nissans. Love the content, keep up the great work guys!
Leaf springs limit it the Xterra. It’s not a better ride, don’t try to convince otherwise. FJ has rear coil springs on the rear axle and it drives and off roads better.
@@eliwray3300 I don’t see how it’s more durable, especially how exposed those leaf spring mounts are in the rear. There’s many rear coils with guaranteed not to sag longevity. That increases towing capability as well. No hate for the Xterra’s whatsoever, would’ve been a second choice. I was turned off by the pink milkshake even if there’s an easy fix.
I have an 07 FJ TRD and its so zamn quirky. But I love it. The transition from on to offroad, because the FJ doesn't know the difference. I have put a winch and heavy duty front bumper, lights, and Old Man Emu springs and shocks on it. I rarely get stuck
I'm not a Toyota guy, I'm a Ford guy but the way you explained this vehicle and showed all the weird futuristic parts you've done changed my mind about this vehicle, it does look cool...I never gave a second look at this vehicle but now, you changed my mind about this vehicle...Good Job!
I have owned my 2007 since new. In Germany I have people offering me nearly what I paid new. Problem is, if I sell it, there is no replacement. Off-road Its a lot easier to get yourself unstuck then unbroken. Toyota trucks are awesome for their reliability and simplicity.
@@garypaisley If you have a 2007 Trail Teams Special Edition it's a rare model indeed considering they came out in 2008. Also, all 2008 TTSE's were white, so the roof would be white/body color on those models as well.
@@Phyde4ux actually I had a 2008 fj and can verify that 2007 is the first year of FJ Cruiser. They had a trd special edition that came in all black for 2007. It was called the trd black diamond edition I think. You are correct that trail teams didn’t come out until 2008.
@@Lucky333lucky So you're agreeing with me that the commenter above does not have an '07 TTSE? I never made the argument that there wasn't an '07 TRDSE.
So glad you guys bought the FJ. I bought a 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium this year and I plan on keeping it for years, paying it off, and driving it. I like that it has CarPlay but the rest of the tech is just the essentials and nothing crazy complicated that’s gonna go wrong. It’s my affordable version of a “reliable Land Rover”. The resale value on 4Runners isn’t crazy like the FJ but it’s still really high too and overall it just feels solid. Toyota knows how to build reliable body on frame SUVs and I’m a huge fan of regular knobs, gears, and levers too. Can’t wait to see the upcoming videos on the FJ.
I bought a 2008 FJ. Kept it for 6 months then sold it for a 4th gen runner. Put about 7 grand in my pocket on the swap and the runner is better in every way.
Same for me! Just bought a 4th Gen 4Runner. Really wanted a FJ, but was way too expensive. The only downside is no factory rear locker on the 4Runner. I’m keeping my eye out for a wrecked Fj to snatch one from though.
All my friends have 4th gen v8’s. I chose to buy an FJ for the v6 and different look. I wish it had that v8. The difference in HP isn’t too much, but on how much I spend on gas is the biggest difference.
@@alphaREDzero the thing with the V8 is that the horsepower is similar to the V6, but it has more torque, and at a lower RPM. If you were to drive them back to back I think you would notice a big difference. IMO in a truck/4x4 torque is more important than hp. I used to have a Trans Am had a 5.7 V8 that only made 230 HP, but it made 330 foot pounds of torque at just over 2,000 RPM. The car actually wasn't that fast in the quarter mile, but during daily driving it just felt so powerful with all that torque.
You dont need a front diff lock with A track- all the audience would love to see you guys do a simple 3 inch spring lift (less than 1000$) , put on some 33 inch MTs and go off-roading- you will be amazed at the FJ’s capabilities...its more than just a “cool car”, and by the way, the rear Diff lock is not some cheese clutch plates, its a splined shaft , electronically engaged, mechanical lock. Combined with the A-Track (open Diff ) differential braking and it will go go go off-road.
Having just picked up a 2016 FJ Cruiser (in Australia), this video makes me so glad I did. Who ever thought driving something so big could be so much fun! It’s a BEAST!
i watched you guys rut up and close down at least three off road trails over the years because you dont do what off road enthusiasts do... Tread lightly and trail maintenance... now heres the best part, just have a once or twice a year "TFL trail maintenance day" where we get viewers to help return the trails to "normal" which will not only help keep the trails open but gives us a consistent testing location
I just my first car in May... a FJ! You’ll love it; looks like nothing else, will never break, and modification is endless. Super stoked that you guys got one and hopefully will modify!
And their jeeps haven’t been? Go rent one take the top off and doors off you will experience a truly fun vehicle now made by Maserati and Ferrari engineers.
I own this exact FJ. Ordered it from Toyota in August 2014. it was the last of two that could be ordered. Liked it so much I bought another. Great choice and another reason i'm glad to be a subscriber.
Yes! You finally bought the real deal. I own one and just love it. It was designed in Toyota’s California Design studios and picked up cues from the FJ40 Land Cruiser. Make sure you grease the propeller shafts once a year. There is a recall on the 2014 FJs for the fuel pump. In all likelihood, there’s nothing wrong but just an abundance of caution on Toyota’s part. Regarding the rear swing door, notice that it opens so that you can load things from the curb, instead of others where they shut you off from the curb when open. That's the benefit of being designed in the US. The little yellow doo-hickey on the strut is a lock to prevent the door swinging in wind or on a slope. Use it. Incidentally, they sell this in the Middle East and Australia too and did so even after 2014 when they stopped selling them here. They also made a 16" rim with even meatier tires with more side wall for off-road. You don't need a front diff lock, use trail control on rock mode.
Hearing people talk about "tuning the radio & setting presets" is just so crazy to me. I've been driving for nine years & can say in absolute seriousness that I've never used the radio. CDs in the first truck I got, until I replaced the head unit with one with Bluetooth in 2012, & have used Bluetooth ever since. I've just never hopped in a vehicle & thought "you know what, I'd rather listen to someone talk & throw advertisements at me & play music I don't even want to listen to." On another note, sweet truck for sure! Love the FJs, always thought they were super cool & have sold several final model year 2014 ones since I started selling Toyotas a couple years ago & am always amazing how much people are willing to pay for them.
Tommy! I still have my FJ Cruiser 2007 and all you need is Oil change. That thing you can pass down from gen-to-gen and I am passing mine to my Son who are now 16yrs old. He was 3 yrs old when I bought this FJ Cruiser, plus you got a cult following on this thing like wrangler. I think you guys made the right call, reliability wise this is unbelievably reliable!
Perfect you can’t go wrong with a FJ and 4Runner. It’s proven, trusted, reliable vehicles. I have a 2008 4Runner LTD V6 with 207,000 miles and has the exact engine as this video shows. Love my 4Runner and all my friends still ask, are you still driving that 4Runner? I say Yes I am. High miles is a badge of honor by keeping it well maintained.
I don't think they will do that, the Touareg was destroying all of the vehicles in its path and they sat it to the side. Volkswagen maybe didn't play ball with them like Toyota does. I would hate that they only are making videos of the used FJ to drop enough negative comments about the Land Rover to spur the dealership to move the repairs of their busted Defender forward faster.
Guys, I love the purchase. I’m so happy that you all have a Toyota suv back in the lineup. I almost got an 07 one but I decided instead on a 2000 4runner. The FJ is so unique and will get you guys where you need to go for a long time.
Just bought a garage kept 2013 FJ with 20,000 miles looks like new inside and out, still has that new car smell. I also have a 2021 Bronco reservation that I may not need now. I also see where ford stole several of its ideas from. Proud FJ Cruiser owner.
I had a 2007 black on black TRD FJC. Best vehicle I have ever owned, bought with 60k on it and sold with 200k on the odometer. Literally not one issue other than maintenance items. Plus it’s capable as heck!
@Todd m unless you plan to own it forever, resale is always relevant. If you can buy something for 30 grand, drive it for five years and then sell it for 35 grand? Really brings down that cost of ownership, yeah?
I like the Xterra. Hell, I'm more likely to actually buy an Xterra. You can get them on the cheap, rag the shit out of them, sell them for scrap a few years later and not feel so bad about it.
My 2008 FJ has 219,000 miles on it and has zero oil leaks, zero oil consumption. The 1GRE engine is brilliant. It's a stroked out version of the 3.5 2G-RE. The torque curve is great for off-roading. Enhance it with a URD MAF controller and the torque curve and throttle response is even better.

I love my fj. I'm a mechanic from canada. Always been a toyota guy. The fj is just so special though. I have lifted my fj with a 2" old man emu kit and i'm sitting on 33" duratracs. Great combo. Been to moab with it before the pandemic. Best week of my life. Enjoy the fj! Consider the lift and tire option, not just for function but it looks amazing over stock. wish i could post some pics from moab!
I bought one in 2007 in Hawaii and still own it. Still my daily driver, although don’t drive that much (still under 100K miles). Favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned. Almost 14 years old and still feels like the day I drove it off the lot. I’ll never let it go. I think the build quality is top notch on these, and yes all were built in Japan. My only regret is that I didn’t get the 2014 when I had the chance. I was actually rear ended in Hawaii by a Mustang. Almost no damage to my vehicle, in fact cosmetically couldn’t see anything! The Mustang looked like it hit a tank BECAUSE IT DID! Toyota did so much right on these,.
Awesome! I owned a 2007 and absolutely loved it! That sucker would crawl anywhere. Most reliable car I’ve owned. Only thing I ever had to buy new under the hood was a battery.
Great Choice Tommy And Roman People Love These And Their very Hard to come by That’s Why they command top dollar All the best again and thanks for your superior work again Evan from New City,NY.
That price is insane, I bought mine when it was 4 years old and 60,000 miles and I paid $17,500 for a TRD with the black roof and black TRD wheels. Best two mods you will ever do to the Fj 1) install a nice stereo with a high res backup camera. 2) get at least some poly spacers to level it so the back end isn’t taller than the front. I did 2” front and 1” in the rear. Everyone would comment on it’s appearance.
I'm a big fan of simplicity, and reliable drivetrains that have been developed and improved over time. That's why I was sad to see Honda ditch the six speed transmission in the Ridgeline in favor of a nine speed. Some people are looking for as many miles to the gallon as they can get, but I'm just looking for the miles.
Great selection. I absolutely love my 2011 Tacoma TRD Off Road double cab. It has locking rear diff, front A-Trac, and to modernize I added a Pioneer 4400NEX wireless Android auto head unit. 4.0 V6, comfort, capability and legendary Toyota reliability and toughness.
TFL, Let's remind ourselves the FJ was the cheap alternative to the 4Runner. If Toyota had brought over the classically styled 2 door #Prado as their discount 4X4 instead of the extremely 'quirky' FJ, it would still be on sale. The good news is that the resurgence of the 2 door 4X4 market (Wrangler, Defender, Bronco) combined with the incredible resale value of the FJ, has created a strong business case for the 2 door Prado after all. BTW 2 door Land Cruiser Prado videos are all over TH-cam.
Heck no you haven't gone mad recommending these. I had an 07 with 2.5" Walker Evan's Reservoir Coil Over Lift and it was fantastic offroad. It was fairly good stock but after the suspension lift it was a much better truck offroad. It over doubled its capability as far as speed on rough sections. Finally traded it in just before I hit 200k for something I didnt really want that got better mileage during the $4.75 per gallon days here in lovely tax you till you die Ca.
I have an fj cruiser, bought it before moving from UT->WA and in the whole 11 hour drive it was perfect! filled up 3 times and here in WA it's been doing amazing off road! 4wd is awesome in the mountains up here and in the city last week when it snowed. I drove it another 6 hours to the beach a couple weeks back and again no problems at all. The change oil light came on on my way back from the beach but I did hit the mileage for new oil since I've been driving it since March. I love this thing and in the new year I'm driving back home and couldn't be happier to have the most reliable engine and trans for the rest of my life. Doubt I'll be needing another car in the future....unless I get rich and buy a GT-R lol
I was a Toyota tech for a long time. FJ had a lot of goofy little things about it, and driving it on road wasn’t great, terrible visibility and mushy, but OMG it is super capable off road even in stock form, and extremely reliable.

@@neilmurphy845 the 2.4 D4D and 2.8 D4D used on the Hilux and the Land Cruiser Prado, would fit perfectly if they in a near future bring back the FJ Cruiser.
@@rexrockefella4586 I've got a Hilux with the 2.4L engine and it's strong enough for pulling a 2Ton trailer. So the 2.8L will probably be way better in Torque. Tommy. You are absolutely right. One article I read by Angus MacKenzie at Motor Trend. He said as some whose dad was a mechanic, he himself served in Australian Army who drove a Land Rover Defender in the Army. As tough and rugged as LRs are; if it breaks down. Good luck. There is a reason Toyota Land Cruiser have replaced Land Rover as the favorites in Down Under. Also Subarus have became the darling in Aussie Land. They are cheaper than the Land Cruiser and still quite capable. We in the States are spoiled with vast local dealerships. Another Australian Auto Expert John Cadogan laid it out. When your car breaks in Australia, good luck finding parts and get expert services. Most dealerships and car companies don’t really care about after market services and parts in Australia. The bottom line in Australia off paths, you better have a reliable off roader or you will regret it. Toyota’s and Subarus are great in demand in Australia for a reason. Also John Cadogan seem to also endorse Hyundai and Kia. No nonsense expensive Europeans vehicles should be on Australian roads unless you are titled aristocrats.
@@markb.8460 Yep. So cringe watching they crying out loud for the Tacoma and F150 having a V6, when in Europe, a Hilux and a Ranger, have a 4 bangers, and mostly used for work than go shopping and haul grocery bags on the bed.
Its a good buy. I love my 2013 FJ I bought in 2015, its a 6 speed manual, full time 4wd with rear locker and the rest of the things you have at that trim level. All the little details are neat like the clutch start cancel and being able to turn off side curtain airbags for off-roading, and so many other things. Also a better tow rating than wrangler or bronco. I put longer struts and shocks on to get 285's on it. Just glad I got mine before it became a hot item and went up in price.
Thanks alot TFL! Just like Orange county choppers did with building one off choppers, which we were doing long before the show reached the air waves. You have single handedly bumped the price of the FJ Cruiser at least 10% higher for the average Joe to get his hands on one and that includes trying to find one that is in decent enough condition to not break the bank with mods to get it where you want it for off road use. I have been saving for 4 years and searching for one that is in my realm of affordability. But great video nonetheless!
I’ve had my 2010 Trail Teams for almost six years. It’s been dead reliable and a lot of fun both on and off road. The 4Runner is identically capable, more practical, but not as cool. I paid $25k for it and could probably get every bit of that, if not more, were I to sell it. I have no plans to any time soon. It’s a great truck.

Mine has 131k miles (210k km) and feels like I've got a new vehicle. Just weird how they're built - you don't see many vehicles built as reliable. Just make sure your son corners safely because I've heard of many FJs flipping over.
@@farrous13 You won't be getting a call because he wrecked a Civic, but might get a call to get him out of a mud hole LOL!!!
Enjoy the best ever car purchase in your life ❤️
Only produced, and manufactured by Hino, in Japan, expect top quality. Shares many structural underpinnings with the LC Prado/Lexus GX.
The only thing that I dislike about my country is the terrible salaries and income inequality, because we definitely get the possibility (if you can afford it) to own the best off-roaders japanese car makers can offer.
Anything made in Japan is going to be reliable and well put together. That includes Suzuki Jimny and LC 79.
@@FJUH Wish we got the Jimny in America, I'm probably gonna buy an old Delica imported to scratch my weird small off-road jdm itch.

13:04 FULLY agree with you! I absolutely hate ALL touch functions. WTF is wrong with normal buttons and dials???
Cluttered. That radio looks like a full blown QWERTY keyboard on its own. 👎
Always love the super simplicity of the dashboard on my 08 FJ. All I need is there. Getting close to 200K miles.

Typing on a physical qwerty keyboard is still more efficient than any touch-screen keyboard....

My FJ has 432K miles. Still going strong. Routine maintenance.
The xterra and frontier pro 4x's are shooting up in price though. A 2015 xterra is a pretty penny these days.
Leaf springs limit it the Xterra. It’s not a better ride, don’t try to convince otherwise. FJ has rear coil springs on the rear axle and it drives and off roads better.
@@UintaDave Better towing and durability with the leaf springs especially with an add-a-leaf lift kit.
Haha all these years I never noticed it had 3 windshield wipers..lol
I have an 07 FJ TRD and its so zamn quirky. But I love it. The transition from on to offroad, because the FJ doesn't know the difference. I have put a winch and heavy duty front bumper, lights, and Old Man Emu springs and shocks on it. I rarely get stuck

I have owned my 2007 since new. In Germany I have people offering me nearly what I paid new. Problem is, if I sell it, there is no replacement. Off-road Its a lot easier to get yourself unstuck then unbroken. Toyota trucks are awesome for their reliability and simplicity.
Can't you buy a 2 door Land Cruiser Prado in Germany? That was the platform on which this FJ was based.
Not all FJ's had a white roof. The TRD and Trail Teams Special Editions came with body-colored roofs.
My 2007 Badged Trail Team must be an exception?
Can confirm
I’d love to have one if they weren’t so expensive. Goin for a 4th gen 4Runner instead
Look for one with the V8! Also, a GX470 would be a good choice too.
This should be a huge message to Toyota-- bring back the FJ Cruiser!!
Having just picked up a 2016 FJ Cruiser (in Australia), this video makes me so glad I did. Who ever thought driving something so big could be so much fun! It’s a BEAST!
This video is obviously to cool down everyone laughing their head off about the Land Rover LOL Good review Tommy!
i watched you guys rut up and close down at least three off road trails over the years because you dont do what off road enthusiasts do... Tread lightly and trail maintenance... now heres the best part, just have a once or twice a year "TFL trail maintenance day" where we get viewers to help return the trails to "normal" which will not only help keep the trails open but gives us a consistent testing location
Totally on point.....no doubt Toyota will bring this back with the resurgence of the bronco and the continued popularity of the wrangler!

They’ve had like a dozen different kinds of Toyotas
@@jordangraf673 I’m newer to the channel. This is the first Toyota I’ve seen them actually own.
I've just never hopped in a vehicle & thought "you know what, I'd rather listen to someone talk & throw advertisements at me & play music I don't even want to listen to."
On another note, sweet truck for sure! Love the FJs, always thought they were super cool & have sold several final model year 2014 ones since I started selling Toyotas a couple years ago & am always amazing how much people are willing to pay for them.
(Considers pointing out that they're on record hating the big glove-friendly knobs on the 4Runner that he's enthusing about now.)
Tommy! I still have my FJ Cruiser 2007 and all you need is Oil change. That thing you can pass down from gen-to-gen and I am passing mine to my Son who are now 16yrs old.
I saw the touareg just over there, do some off road competition video between new defender fj and touareg please.

The title says: TFL CAR, yet I wouldn't consider this Toyota to be a CAR...is it based on a car?
Should be under TFL TRUCK.
By far my favorite vehicle I've owned.

Best two mods you will ever do to the Fj
1) install a nice stereo with a high res backup

2) get at least some poly spacers to level it so the back end isn’t taller than the front. I did 2” front and 1” in the rear. Everyone would comment on it’s appearance.

Not sure why you guys bought the FJ Cruiser?? TFL won’t be able to make any “break-down” videos about the FJ !!!!!!!
Rear locker + A-TRAC is so good it calls into question the need for a front locker for the grand majority of situations.
I knew it would be a Toyota, but based on “most expensive” in the title led me to believe Land Cruiser..
You won’t pay sticker price on five year old Land Cruiser!
They did that already but it seemed like they didn't keep it very long, understandably though.
I'm looking for one and now and I see this vid. Prices are gonna go even higher.
That's one of the reasons why I'm looking at the 4runner.
TFL and TFJ. Both Reliable. Integral. 2nd to none. Peace from the North!
Always excited to see the unique cars that tfl buys
Heck no you haven't gone mad recommending these. I had an 07 with 2.5" Walker Evan's Reservoir Coil Over Lift and it was fantastic offroad. It was fairly good stock but after the suspension lift it was a much better truck offroad. It over doubled its capability as far as speed on rough sections. Finally traded it in just before I hit 200k for something I didnt really want that got better mileage during the $4.75 per gallon days here in lovely tax you till you die Ca.
Time to go get an Xterra and run them both at Moab!
That FJ is a major win. It'll be alive way after every other truck is dead.
I was a Toyota tech for a long time. FJ had a lot of goofy little things about it, and driving it on road wasn’t great, terrible visibility and mushy, but OMG it is super capable off road even in stock form, and extremely reliable.

Carvana has one with 14 k on the odometer they are wanting 40 Grand and it's a 2012
They'll get asking price too haha
@@JahyMoonwalker sadly yes
That price sounds about right.
Wonder why Keeps love to use TH-camrs with a nice set of hair as their sponsors.
You are so right if ever there was an advert for Nathan to do that was it. :) Not some kid with more hair than his mountain dog!. (this is coming from a baldy coot so I might sound jealous, mind you, I had hair like that at his age) :)
Yeah, and Tommy's isn't going anywhere for a while since Roman still has his.
@@nlpnt that makes the perfect sponsor to Keeps. Wonder until when they gonna sponsor Tavarish. They seem to be switching to Jared.
@@RobG001 there is still hope. The only why to fix genetic baldness is hair implants. Medication can slow it down, but doesn't fix it. There are new techniques that are less intrusive and don't leave a big scar on the hair donor part of head. And they are becoming more cheaper. In a near future it gonna be like well widespread like breats implants.
@@nlpnt Baldness is passed down from the mother's side. as Tommy alluded to. Look at your mother's brothers.
When I first started watching tfl and would go through your old vehicles I would look through your old videos for the fj. I am so glad you finally have one and am looking forward to every video.
No.. :(
Sorry, but if you like this old ugly thing with a cheap interior.. more power to you. I'll pass, even if you give me one for free.
Love this. ♥️
The engine cover looks like it’s made to reflect old carb trumpets.
The thing about all of these quirks is that most manufacturers showcase them on the first edition models and then either make them an option or remove them completely.
Volvo are champions at this.
I bought one brand new in 2012. I still own it. I have since bought a 2008 model and two weeks ago I purchased a 2014 trail teams ultimate edition with on 37,000 miles on it. These are best vehicles on the road.
Love my 12 year old Trail Teams FJ. Just hit over 250K. Have it for years and I still look back after parking it because it just looks cool. I have been asked 3 times at a dealership if I’m interested in selling. It’s a keeper.
