The singer is using a vintage microphone probably from the 30's and 40's, or maybe the 50's. That's what you would hear when people talked or sang back in the day. Just listen to some old news reels or old vinyl records and you will hear that same sound being produced.
My son studied this song in his sociology class… I never had paid attention to what it was about until he told me….. He just graduated High School on Monday 👍 ( lol it was touch and go for a while) hope all is good with you and your boy!!! ✌️
Thanks! Congrats to your boy as well 🎉 👏🏽 wish him the best
Hi from Australia, I heard this song just recently my granddaughter was playing it and my first thought was I love the music but when I listened to the lyrics I was really shocked about how they could sing something like this. Such an horrible subject but such a great tune. She told me the song is really old I had never heard it before.
Possibly coz us in Australia don't have to worry & deal with the subject matter of the song. We have huge issues in our country when it comes to youth crime atm but apart from that we live in one very lucky country & i know one of names Australia are known as is the "lucky country" (even tho it's not meaning "lucky" in the way most of us think). While our govt are trying to shame us for being proud of being Aussie's & proud of our Great Southern Land we can look at the majority of other nations in the world & see how good we actually have it down here.
I agree, the fact that you have to really listen activelyto decipher everything put down in the verses, or even engage more by finding the lyrics, must be intentional, while the choruses almost automatically moves you to groove. To me, the juxtaposition is a metaphor on guns and the actual people affected by gun violence in America. The choruses make this song a totally infectious bop banger, just like guns are a cool, fun part of pop culture. Nothing wrong with grooving out to a good tune. They catch you with the hook: compelling you to listen to the quieter parts makes you think more deeply about what it really means.
Thanks for the feedback
