Hope this video is helpful. It was highly requested! And don't worry if you wear pants etc. I know the way that I dress is not the only way. But you guys asked for this video so much that I wanted to make it happen!🧡
I love the video. I always wear dresses & skirts in the winter, over a base layer of a black Jersey long sleeved/no sleeve dress. I add colour with different tops, and only wear long boots with leggings and tunic tops. I so loved this video! Thank you 👢 👗 🧥 👟❤️😊
Can you do a nursing dress review! I have 3 nursing friendly dresses and the rest of the time I wear skirts. ( tired of wearing the skirts, dresses are so much easier)
Another tip: If your skirts and dresses arent lined, leggings will stick to them and bunch up your outer garment, WEAR A SLIP. Not only is it an extra layer, it creates a layer between your dress/skirt and leggings. 🙌🙌 game changer. Plus, if you wear a full slip and your sweater isnt a close knit, itll help your torso to keep warm.
@@Millenialknitting You can actually buy a spray in a can for Static Cling at Walmart. Spray your slip, leggings and dress or skirt. It does help a bit.
Thanks for this tip! I know everyone insists that you lose all your heat through your head but my body actually is a bit different, if my torso is even slightly coolish, I freeze.... my head, on the other hand, doesn't matter at all (ears can be another story though!)
My favorite magic static tip is this: If you are wearing a slip under that skirt, pin two safety pins on the bottom of the slip front and back. They totally remove the static!!! Try it! It really does work!
I've read this several times now and don't know what it is (I'm not native..) What is a "slip"? I only know this for you underwear. But that won't match this topic, I think.. 😄
@@FrogeniusW.G. a slip is a "skirt or dress" that goes under your actual skirt or dress. Normally it's for modesty if the skirt or dress is thin material. It also helps the outfit to hang properly. It goes over your underwear. A "dress" slip is called a full slip. I think it's called slip because it allows the outfit to "slip" over you with ease. Most people don't wear them anymore.
My hack for winter skirt dressing is to channel the older lady vibes... 1. Using old fashioned dress slips (petticoat, or half-petticoat) as an extra thin layer between the skirt and leggings. This allows for extra warm and stops the fabric from the skirt/dress from sticking together. Also takes away the underwear line. Easy for find in a thrift store . 2. Find a woolen skirt in a thrift store that you can wear as a warm under layer. You can get away without wearing leggings if you find the right kind. Often in winter I’ll be wearing three skirts. A slip, a woolen layer and then the outer pretty layer, with boots, and no one can tell
One of my fav skirt tricks is to wear yoga pants with the flip down style waist. Put your skirt over pants, then flip down the waist band on pants over the waist band of the skirt. Adds a pop of color and helps with any muffin top problems ☺️ also super comfy! Thanks the braving the cold for us, I'm in MI. I often add leg warmers over my leggings. I'm into skirts in winter. I think it's like a blanket for your legs, but it's attached and attractive!
One tip I have is to wear a tee shirt dress under your skirts. You have a nice neat tee shirt look at top and bottom of dress works as a petticoat and extra warmth under skirt. Also avoids tee becoming untucked. Great too if Dress is becoming a bit short, a way to extend life of garment.
When I lived in Michigan, I wore sweater tights with my dresses. So warm and toasty! You can get them at Target, they’re cable knit tights for grownups! 😊
Yes ❤️ the Lord has been working in me to like and to wear dresses/skirts more something i never thought i would ever like wearing especially since I always liked wearing skinny pants ❤️
Great video! As an Orthodox Jew, I also wear only skirts all the time 😊 Leggings and layers are everything in winter! I’m a huge fan of maxi skirts, though I tend to wear the floor length slinky black skirts most often with knee socks and I add undersummers if I know I’ll be out walking a lot. Thanks for sharing your life here ❤️
It's currently -40° here and I'm still tromping around outside in my dresses with 2 or 3 layers underneath. It's amazing the multitude of sins a flowy skirt can hide. I even see Hutterite girls out wandering around with sweats or fuzzy pajama bottoms under their dresses. :D
Very good tips! As a homesteading mom who needs to go out and do chores, I wear leggings under my skirts and bundle up my torso. One tip I love is wearing a warm scarf around my neck . It keeps the warm air inside my jacket and cold air out. I also don't buy coats without a hood.
Laughed out loud over your "inner snowman" comment - those of us in winter climates can totally relate! Sunglasses are a must in MT as well. Not only does it slow down the crow's feet, it reduces the chance of cataracts.
Loved this video! As a Canadian Mennonite leggings are definitely a must in the winters. I needed ideas for dressing it up a bit, thanks! Love your style!
I loved this video! I loved all the outfits and tips. You were a super cute model, too, Megan. I wear only dresses and skirts. In my denomination, it’s becoming a rare thing anymore. I know modest can look a little different from person to person, but keep being modest & trendy & having fun!💜👑😊
I live in Montana. Sometimes the snow builds up to your hips here. I dress modest and it’s easy for me to stay warm in skirts/dresses! I even hunt in a jean skirt with leggings and winter coat! I love watching your videos for more tips! I’m currently 18 1/2 weeks pregnant and still dress modestly warm in the winter!
You always look so cute 😊 I grew up only wearing skirts and dresses, so this is totally relatable. Brings back many memories of trying to style skirts in winter, especially in our constantly below freezing temps!
So helpful, thanks Megan! About the fabric softener: I used to use it religiously til right before my son was born. We cloth diaper him and I found out how dryer sheets/fabric softener work. It coats your clothes, preventing static. If that happens to the diapers, they won't absorb like they should. So I scrubbed the drum of my dryer with hot water and dawn dish soap to get the residue off. Initially, we had a fair amount of static, but it's been a few months since we stopped using softener and the static seems to be less. Also, I've heard if you take a clean cloth and wet it with white vinegar and toss it in the dryer with your laundry, it can act as a softener. Haven't tried it though.
YES! Leggings are an absolute necessity in the wintertime, I like to wear them when I help in my church nursery so when you have to sit on the floor your still modest.
Thank you for the great ideas! I was just talking to my friend about dressing modest without looking older than my age. And I love the slipper boots! You talk really fast but I was able to hang in there with you. 😊
Great topic Megan. I always wear wool tight under my thermo leggings with my dresses and skirts to keep nice and warm in the danish weather 🥶! You also talked about skin protection, be aware of the more water there is in your cream the worst it is for your skin in subzero temperature 😎. God bless and keep warm !
Megan . . . . way to go girl!!!!! You are doing much to cultivate a desire for modesty around the world! Thank you from the heart of a born again Christian. No doubt in my mind, you make our precious Savior smile!!! Judy in Virginia Beach
To control static I put hand lotion on my hands until almost completely absorbed and then rub the residue onto the inside of my skirts. It really works and I get the added benefit of soft hands!
Thanks for this video Megan definitely very helpful. I managed to find some fleece lined tights and they are sooooo warm and soft, and I have some thermal tights so I have been trying out skirts this winter and to be fair, I havent been as cold as I thought I would. Proper freezing winter hasnt hit us in the U.K yet though, so we'll see how well I do.Love your style and its inspiring me to get into skirts a bit more. So thank you. Perhaps you could do a seasonal dress video for each season this year. I would love to see that.
I’m from Lancaster PA too and I wear all skirts and dresses all the time too. I mainly wear denim in the winter and will wear black tights. I’m a layer gal too, but never thought of a thermal underneath! Thanks for sharing your tips!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Omg, I hate wearing pants in the winter and have been struggling to keep warm and skirts and dresses. I'm so excited you made this video!
I just want to say a huge thank you to you for listing the leggings that you have!! I've literally been looking for soft cottony leggings with pockets and I'm having a difficult time because most yoga pants are the shiny slick kind and this kind that you have are perfect! I just ordered them from Amazon and got them and they are amazing!!! I'm trying to wear more dresses year-round and dress more modestly so this was a huge discovery and I'm really glad to have found your channel!
I live in PA too in Berks County and also try to dress modestly and for the most part I wear skirts and dresses. I also wear skinny jeans with tunic style or mini dresses. I have found some fleece lined jeans and found some at Aldi, their leggings and tights are awesome. I do love denim and corduroy skirts and knee length boots. When I wear booties I usually wear tights and then long warm socks to go over them
I’ve worn skirts and dresses my whole life and grew up in Ohio, we usually had snow 6 months out of the year. Layers, type of material that the skirt/dress is and leggings are the best way to go. Thermals are the best!
I really enjoyed this video because it included actual practical tips to stay warm. Oftentimes women are shown a mini dress and knee high boots with bare legs and told this will keep us warm. Ha. Common sense tells me no! I love your tips.
I love how are the end you say, “Choose joy....” I watch this other youtuber, her name is Joy Ross, she’s a follower of Jesus and she is completely blind. One of her mottos is, “I choose joy.” And she loves this Bible verse that she recites to herself often, “I walk by faith, not by sight.” She is an inspiration and I love her little adventures she goes on. Love your tips and such. I'm Independent Baptist and my conviction to be modest and feminine is very important. I also wear dresses and skirts all the time as well. I live north of Williamsport PA and trust me it can get cold. I agree that skirts and dresses represent a look that can be stylish and put together.
I've seen lots of videos about this subject which just say 'wear a sweater' or 'wear tights' which is nothing new to anyone. You gave really good and different ideas and tips. Thanks for a great video!
Great tips! I am a big fan of skirts and dresses in winter, I find them way easier to layer and often works out warmer than pants. Here in Ireland we have Penneys (called Primark outside of Ireland) and they sell leggings that look like very thick tights that are completely lined in very thick fleece, honestly whenever I wear anything else now my legs feel freezing!! I know Primark are in some places in America, so I'd recommend checking them out if you can. Scarves are also the best, like a blanket on the go!
I make flannelette "slips". Works great with heavier skirts such as denim, and is so cozy. Just side seams, hem, and a casing with elastic for the waist. I have also cut off the bottom of worn nightgowns and just added casing and elastic- already hemmed. Also, even more comfy that leggings are black long underwear - I just tuck them into the top of knee socks - looser than leggings and softer.
I'm a lifelong dress/skirt wearer also. Great tips!! I learned some fashion tips too...I'm not the greatest when it comes to that part. Lol I usually like tights better that leggings but I think I need to try some. I've had a comfortable pair that I love to workout in. Thanks for sharing!! 😊❤
Thank you for this wonderful video! I wear dresses too and I live a cold climate. I actually bought me a skirt in amazon that’s made of wool not sure what percentage. But I love it!!! It keeps me warm on my nature walks even when it’s snowing!
So happy I found your video!!!! I am planning to visit Alaska and as someone who wears skirts and dresses this was so helpful in what to purchase for that trip! Thanks for this!
Wow! Thank you so much for actually putting on all those outfits. It really helps to know what to shop for. I have avoided skirts in the winter because of the cold. You gave some great ideas!
Hi Megan, I'm from Northeastern PA and I completely understand what you mean about wearing dresses in winter... It's not the dress itself that I have issues with its what shoes do I wear when it's snowy or slushy outside while wearing a dress. I really liked this video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for this video! I wish more winter fashion was made for those of us who live in snowy climates. Having lived in the south and now am back home in Maine...my winter attire has changed a lot. I really enjoyed this video. 💜❄
there are several natural brands of fabric softener you can buy - that's what I use! Vinegar is also a great *very* natural fabric softener! Just use like you would normal softener.
While it hasn’t really been too cold overe here so far, yesterday the cold finally arrived. I just decided to wear one of my long summer dresses to church today and paired it with a sweater and ankle boots. I definitely need some more leggings 😄
I recently started using wool dryer balls and they are amazing for reducing static and as an alternative to dryer sheets which are filled with chemicals.
Loved it! Thank you Megan, I’m UPC and I only wear skirts and dresses but I’m in CA so its not quite as cold here. I definitely agree that it’s a no no when ladies wear a long shirt or cardigan with a short coat 🤦🏻♀️😂❤️
Love all your videos Megan, and this was one great and packed with inspiration and practical tips! I've been wearing skirts and dresses through the winter for years and can say that these tips definitely work. Leggings and a long skirt can actually be warmer than jeans!
I'm looking to wear dresses/skirts full time and this was a concern for me! Thanks for answering! Also, I subbed bc you talked like we were friends and you sound so sweet♥️ God Bless!
I wear blue jeans every day. For working around the house I didn't know anything else that could work so well, but I would like to wear skirts instead. Thanks for these tips. I love the leggings underneath (that will make skirts way more comfortable for me!)
Take it from a snowy girl, I do the leggings under the skirt too. It is great for winters. Even long snowy winters! However make sure they are cotton and not spandex. Cotton will flow with your skirt, but spandex will catch on your skirt and wrench it up as you go. Yes fabric softener or dry sheets is a must when washing. Also for extra warmth outside you can add knitted knee highs over your leggings, and boots over that.
Haha! I'm an Aussie, snow is VERY foreign to me.......but I did learn lots abt dresses in winter (it's still cold in winter where I am, just not cold enough to snow!). Leggings are amazing under dresses + I think I need some ankle boots ;). Thanks, Megan!
I LOVE knee high socks. It's something I've picked up from my Mennonite cousins in IN, MN, and NY. I live in Arkansas, and our winter's aren't very bad. I don't think we've gotten below 28 this winter yet, and if we ever get snow, we get 6 inches a year at the most, but I wear denim dresses, so knee highs are my best friend.
Hope this video is helpful. It was highly requested! And don't worry if you wear pants etc. I know the way that I dress is not the only way. But you guys asked for this video so much that I wanted to make it happen!🧡

Wow! Thank you so much for actually putting on all those outfits. It really helps to know what to shop for. I have avoided skirts in the winter because of the cold. You gave some great ideas!
I loved all your outfits!
I wear dresses and skirts all the time too. I like your vedios so much ❤. You are so open and don't hid who you are. 🤗
This is the best video ever. Thank you so much from your modest, Pennsylvania friend!!
Hi Megan, I'm from Northeastern PA and I completely understand what you mean about wearing dresses in winter... It's not the dress itself that I have issues with its what shoes do I wear when it's snowy or slushy outside while wearing a dress. I really liked this video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the tips! I am ALWAYS cold and this has been keeping me from wearing dresses.
Loved this video!! We only wear skirts and dresses so that was very helpful! ❤️ & you are so cheerful that it’s exciting to watch your videos!
So cute to see the younger Megan!
This is soooo beyond helpful and exactly what I needed right now!! Love that they’re all modest outfits too!! Thank you!
Thank you for this video! I wish more winter fashion was made for those of us who live in snowy climates. Having lived in the south and now am back home in Maine...my winter attire has changed a lot. I really enjoyed this video. 💜❄
Thursday morning with Megan...love it...love your enthusiasm...I look forward to Thursday mornings.🤗
there are several natural brands of fabric softener you can buy - that's what I use! Vinegar is also a great *very* natural fabric softener! Just use like you would normal softener.
I use vinegar semi regularly too!
While it hasn’t really been too cold overe here so far, yesterday the cold finally arrived. I just decided to wear one of my long summer dresses to church today and paired it with a sweater and ankle boots. I definitely need some more leggings 😄
I live in the deep south but I still loved your video.
These tips were helpful! I love seeing what you style + pair together. 😊
I wear that same thermal as well:) That is my main tip. I wear thermals under all my dresses and skirts haha
I'm looking to wear dresses/skirts full time and this was a concern for me! Thanks for answering!
Also, I subbed bc you talked like we were friends and you sound so sweet♥️ God Bless!
I have a couple wool pea coats I got on clearance several years ago at Old Navy. They look super classic and beautiful over a dress in the winter.
Thank you for your video and the clever tips to stay warm with dresses in wintertime. I'm going to buy leggings to wear under my dresses.
I love you and your videos! Dryer balls are a good option instead of fabric softener.
Yes! And a bit of vinegar in the rinse cycle
I dress vintage inspired, so I've been rocking full length wool skirts with knee high sweater socks. I've been extremely warm and cozy.
Great video, Megan!!! Very cute options! Thanks.
This was very helpful! I need to be less lazy with my clothes in the winter.
