We can't think of any better modern metal band in the world to demo the LTD '87 Series than Paladin! This Atlanta, GA-based band takes the virtuosic vibe of '80s power metal and adds in elements of thrash and progressive technical precision that lands you at the gates of shred heaven! Paladin guitarists and ESP players Taylor Washington and Alex Parra do this playthrough of "Black Omen" from their 2019 album 'Ascension', and are both playing the LTD M-1 Custom '87 in Rainbow Crackle finish, part of the LTD '87 Series that pays homage to guitars from the 1987 ESP catalog. The M-1 Custom '87 features offers neck-thru body construction, a three-piece extra thin U-shaped maple neck, a Floyd Rose 1000 bridge without a recess route, a single Seymour Duncan Distortion TB-6 pickup with a push-pull control for coil splitting, and an EMG PA-2 boost switch for when you need that extra push of raw power. Huge fail for anyone sleeping on these guys. Their 2019 Release 'Ascension' is incredible. Album of the year for me. Megadeth crossed with Iron Maiden, with a touch of Death.
I bought the last vinyl copy I could find on the internet because of this video. As a huge Nevermore fan, really cool to find a band that can carry the shreddy genre-bending torch.

Nice picking,I love the m1 87s its a affordable 👌 😀 toy that takes a lickin and you don't have to worry about hurting it to much ,and it sounds pretty good for the money. I think its a very good intermediate level 🎸 guitar.

Add white neck binding please. I've seen the originals and they have white neck bindings, it looks more attractive and draws attention to the neck more.

Is there any difference in sound between Custom and Mirage? I decided to buy one but I dont know which one.
Yes. The M-I Custom '87 has a single humbucker bridge pickup and the body includes a beveled route for the lower horn. The Mirage Deluxe '87 adds a single-coil neck pickup. You can see both here: www.espguitars.com/products?categories=87-series-guitars
@@espguitarsusa Thanks, I am aware that the guitars have some different specs. I am just interested if that TB-6 sounds the same in Mirage or is there any significant difference in sound because of the cavity for the neck pick-up and bolt-on neck?
@@kkarx For that specific pickup, there aren't drastic differences in tone between the two models. However, keep in mind that the M-1 also has the EMG PA-2 boost, and that definitely makes a difference.
