I have a mother raccoon that has been coming in my yard for years. I always put food out for her and her babies but never had any interactions with them.They come and eat but never disturb my garden or anything. They are always welcome .
The raccoon dancing with the girl is just too cute! We had a raccoon for a pet for awhile, he was great. He went crazy for ice cream cones and peanut bars.
Racoons are fantastic creatures! When it starts getting cold, I feed a couple of very polite racoons (and occasional babes) who live in a greenbelt next to me in south Seattle. I don't get too friendly with them, so they don't get too bold, but they are very adorable and interesting creatures. The ones around here seem to be at a perfect point of being friendly, but not aggressive or a nuisance.
I love their fluffy tail. Our ancestors had a tail, we've still got a tailbone but not many people are born with a visible tail anymore. It's very rare..
omg I LOVE raccoons!! The best way to get a raccoon to come down is by showing him an egg, he will come down to get it from you! We had a raccoon AND a skunk that ran around by my workplace, one night the raccoon got a little too close trying to play with the skunk and got sprayed, LOL!!! The raccoon was so pissed, and he screaming at that skunk, I laughed so hard I was in tears.
Peanut butter sandwiches work too. I own a cinnamon raccoon ( the one in my profile pic). I take care of about 50 every night, they get fruit,veggies,dogfood,popcorn and peanut butter sandwiches every night.

I had a pet Raccoon as a kid.We found him as an abandoned baby. We feed him with a baby bottle.My sister would take him to bed with her.When he got older he walked on a leash like a dog .His name was Zorro.He was a sweetie..But I wouldn't recommend taking an adult as a pet..Sometimes they are mean.
To be completely honest it’s not for everyone, most of those “domesticated” raccoon are actually rescues, even if you could have one as it just seems like the most rednecked thing ever.
