This was a fantastic video! Thank you, ACX, and Andrew!!!
I'm eager to record some Samples and Audition for some Audio Books, yet I'm so glad I watched this, first.
I already viewed, and will apply, the Audio Submission Checklist, but what Andrew explains in this session about Audio Production really emphasizes the Why the Technical Requirements of your Record must be met at the start, before you can expect to move forward ... no matter how golden your voice may be.
Andrew's recommendation to do All of your recording for the day, then do your edits, makes good sense to me, although I know many other Narrators don't do this. I like to make my corrections and fixes after I've finished recording. But since I'm new to Narration, I'm looking forward to learning more about the process in Part 2 of this series, "Editing and QC."
    Great work!

A worthwhile video that doesn't skip the most important facts & details of audio recordings.

Helpful! Also hilarious, since your vocal/audio quality improves dramatically when you look down so that you are speaking into the lavalier... :-) Thanks for doing these.

Very helpful material. But I have to ask; what goes into the 6 hours for every one recorded hour?

Hi Excellent information. I just need to know what is the name of the "short in-line microphone accessory", I have tried to locate and don't have a name . This is attached to the interface and the microphone to reduce the low frequency noise when you record.

I believe he's talking about the Shure A15HP High Pass Filter. You can find them on various online vendors' sites; here's an example I found on amazon.com: www.amazon.com/Shure-A15HP-High-Pass-Filter/dp/B00075VQRO
But, you might not need this inline filter, if you're using a modern mixer for your microphone inputs. Most good-quality mixers have a high-pass (a.k.a. low cut) filter on each channel that has a microphone input. Example: the Mackie 402VLZ4 mixer: www.amazon.com/Mackie-402VLZ4-4-channel-Compact-Quality/dp/B00EDRUQXC/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1416791419&sr=1-1&keywords=mackie+mixer

Very helpful. How much time could one expect to spend in producing a 40,000 word audiobook in both the recording and editing process? Thanks!

Have you tried slowing down the playback speed? Helps me when I'm ingesting particularly heavy material like technology and history.

With the ever increasing quality of AI generated voices, are you ever going to accept AIA generated voices and not just human and I wonder if this is a voice that AIA generated, so would you accept his boys? Have fun
