I love the way Imogene says "I think I could do better" she saw how uncomfortable Nick was at that time and was deflecting attention to make it appear she called off the relationship. She really is an ally 🙂
I'm actually a little envious of her personality and confidence, not only she flat out asked her crush out but also took the rejection extremely well and maturely
@@DannyRayqu It's what I love about Heartstopper. It shows us drama but also how it can, and ought to be, resolved. 🙂It's a slice of life through an optimistic lens.
When Harry mentions to Nick the "date on Saturday," I can tell by Nick's expression that he is hearing about the date/time of his date with Imogen for the first time, like she never mentioned when the date would be. Harry says she has told "everybody" that it's Saturday. Nick being the polite guy that he is (a guy who does not want to embarrass her), he pretends that he forgot, to cover for her. (Remember: Nick and Imogen have been friends since Year 7 (for 5 years).

We just want to know that you're okay 🤗 Sometimes it's hard to get up and do the things you have to do, but I'm so happy that your back! Wishing you all the happiness and hope in the world! And I'm waiting for the next video 🥰
Nick's hug in the bowling alley was because of his guilt and gratitude. Charlie had a perfect opportunity and reason to out Nick to Tao, saying that Nick wouldn't go on a date with Imogen because Nick was involved with Charlie, but Charlie didn't say that. He kept Nick's secret, as Nick had asked, even though it obviously caused him some grief and made things awkward with his best friend. The hug was a kind of reward and thank you.
The scene where Nick explains things to Imogen just speaks volumes.. how mature Nick is with his feelings.. and his honesty.. This is such an important programme for kids growing up and going through their individual journeys. I wish I had this programme when I was growing up.. It's so important to have these issues showing in such positive ways. 🌈
We DO care if you are going through a hard time. You come across as a lovely thoughtful and sensitive guy. The fact you are sponsored by well being and mental health counselling organisation just makes me love your Heartstopper posts! Your reactions are my favourites and I really hope
This show is revolutionary in its ability to not make unnecessary drama out of simple misunderstandings and yet it's still compelling. As a no BS type of person my entire life I've always been impatient with those ridiculous misunderstandings unless it's handled really well in a comedy of errors. I hate it in more serious things.
LOL @ 26:48. "Joey doesn't share food!" That was my daughter until she starts seeing her partner of the last 11+ years. God forbid you take a fry from her plate without asking. When he did it she liked him so much she didn't say anything. Also, he's super sweet and isn't one of those people that just constantly wait for you to buy the popcorn etc. She told him quite awhile later how privileged he was. Now they have two little boys who are constantly taking food off her plate. 😆 The rule is still firm for the rest of us.
The reason Nick hugged Charlie after the Tao confrontation in the bathroom is because not only did Charlie stick up for him...but he didn't out him. When he said Nick was his friend...he could have said boyfriend and he didn't because that wouldn't have been fair for him to do. It wasn't his secret to tell. He hugged him for doing the hard and right thing not the wrong and easy one.
Tao has abandonment issues, which possibly will be explored more in season two. He does not want to lose Charlie. He feels if Charlie and Nick become a couple, Charlie will not want to spend time with him.
Also, Tao is very protective of Charlie as a result of Charlie's having been bullied the year before. Tao has extra reasons for the protectiveness, which he explains in season 2 when they are in Paris and standing on a bridge.
I love how most people who watch Heartstopper including me expect things to lead to super complicated situations and end up being just genuinely surprised when the characters actually communicate and fix situations in a healthy way instead of how characters normally approach conflict in films ☠️☠️
Proves the writers/producers wrong that audiances will be bored seeing a happy couple. So long as there is a good story around the happy, we dont need drama. I can't help thinking specifically of the show runner from Vampire Diaries. I remember so clearly being a kid in the library watching an interview with her, and she said pretty much exactly that. Audiances need the drama, so we can't have the characters just be happy. I think she added something more about that being why love triangles were great. They naturally provided the will they wont they, instability, and drama. I remember rewinding to listen to it again because I just figured I had to have missed something. When it turned out I hadn't, I was just stunned as to how someone could actually believe that. When you look back at the show with that in mind though so much makes sense about why they did what they did,
GLAD TO SEE YOU BACK! 🥺 I hope lots of good times come your way, you really spread laughter and happiness with your humour. All the love and power to you ♥️
@@alexchris13 never apologize for your mental health and I wish you nothing but good things for yourself and your health and I understand what it feels like to take time off to heal and get better so I hope you’re doing well I love you ❤️ 😅😊
don't apologize for taking care of yourself; we all have those moments. I'm glad you're feeling better now! thanks for another amazing reaction to this fantastic show. Nick is our bi King and is super relatable to me as a bisexual. I can attest to the fact that it can be so confusing being bi and I wish I had a show like this when I was younger because it would have put things into perspective much earlier for me. I missed out on all those years in h.s. of exploring my sexuality and didn't realize I was bi until I got to college and developed a crush on my roommate haha ❤
Nick is truly a golden retriever. He always thinks of others feelings and is very protective over Charlie. When Tao threw the ball at Nick the last episode it looked like nick was just kicked and he looked sad. When Tao confronted nick he looked scared. Nick is a golden retriever especially how adoringly he looks at Charlie.
Nick wasn't looking for LGBTQ movies to watch with Charlie, he was looking for a movie night movie to watch with his mum... and possibly also have the conversation/come out/try and communicate with her. But he wasn't quite ready. Oh, I've been there!!
I think Nick didn't want to upset his mum. She was going through a list of movies they could watch, and she had just made them pizza, so Nick being the kind son he is, decided not to let the pizza get cold and watch the film his mum chose. Once again, we see Nick thinking of others, even in this tiny way
Given the show breaks the mold in showing healthy communication and relationships and so on, I really hoped at some point someone would just start reporting home to the principal/teachers. We hear about Charlie telling the art teacher and getting support so having seen it work why wouldnt they do it again. Every time he tosses soe thing go straight to them with it and report them. He does it so regularly that even if they dont care they'll get annoyed with it and want him to stop.
Tao knows Charlie has a crush, but he doesn't know Nick likes Charlie back, so he's concerned that Nick is using Charlie, or is in cahoots with Harry, to set up something terrible to bully Charlie more. :)
When Tao is talking about the birthday party plans, he says that the party would start at 4 pm in the afternoon. They would do a little bowling, eat a bit, and play a bit in the arcade. It's possible that the party would be done by 7 or 8 pm. Imogen has suggested for her and Nick's date that they have dinner and a movie-- both things that would take place in the later evening. So IF Nick does not cancel his date with Imogen, he could still go to both the party and the date.
I 100% understand Nick. I used to be 100% straight growing up. Eventually, I started developing feelings for guys, possibly because one of my friends suggested, 'hey, if you can't get a girlfriend, maybe you could find a nice guy.' I was bullied by girls, who consistently called me ugly, until a girl stood up for me and said, 'what do you mean he doesn't look bad?' Even now, that stands true. I guess, as an individual, I wasn't amazing at flirting. I'm worse with guys nowadays. Girls tend to always want me for being sweet, and guys barely notice me. If it's not that, they're not as great of communicators. I tend to pour my heart out and get told by toxic guys, 'I'm not your therapist.' A week later, they love me and want to do so much together, but then ignore me until they need me again.
As a bisexual, Nick represented the self discovery process so well. At least how it was for me and I’m glad that bisexuality is getting more recognition
what i saw in this episode when Charlie ask nick that he want to kiss him and when nick said yes charlie was making sure that nick want to and asking nick are u sure because charlie understand how this mean and he want to be there for him and support him though this and he will always be there. and nick and charlie has a speical bond and their connection towards each other and also there chemistry so powerful.and there friendship is very strong.
Nick's realization and process of of figuring out his identity is very realistic like I always knew I liked girls and I never interacted with people who are non-binary but I also knew that I was attracted to boys so when I met non-binary people and became more attracted to girls in my class and in general it really freaked me out because it wasn't something that is talked about in the community I live in and even though my parents always said that they'll love me no matter what it was very obvious that they would not be okay with me having a girlfriend or any kind of partner that does not identify as female or male and that really puts me in a difficult position right now especially since I'm a teenager and I'm still figuring myself out and this is one thing that I figured out about myself which is very much how Nick is feeling it represents these people who attracted to so many different people and feel pressured to choose one side
I'm so sorry to hear that. I can really relate to you. It's already hard enough to figure yourself out, but when you know that the people around you don't support you, that makes it so much worse. I hope you know that you're loved an that there's absolutely no pressure to figure yourself out right now. Take your time. If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here! 💛
At 30:30 - it is interesting to watch this, as this seems to be an equal to what Charlie had. Charlie hid away in the arts classroom, which was his safe space. This little closest room seems for the time being to be Tara's safe space. Just only noticed this now. Interesting.
I'm sorry you're going through a rough time, I hope it gets better soon! Heartstopper really is a comfort show if you need one. Love your videos XOXO ❤🩹
Yeah, I think this show deserves an A+ (or A*for the folks in the UK) for representation and modeling healthy communication and relationship skills. And for showing the parent-child interaction between Nick and his mom and how she is assuming that he said her sexual and his reaction to that and attempts to figure out a way to tell her he's not, like when he was trying to find a movie to watch, although I have to say, Mamma Mia is not the straightest movie choice either. Even if it didn't have any gay characters at all, but I think it does because I think one of the possible dads is gay, it is a musical based on the music of ABBA, and that in and of itself is inherently at least culturally queer. I think all of the relationships between the characters are so important and this show just is pure magic and, I think, queer joy. They really made something special with this show, and I think it is amazing the impact that it has already had and will continue to have on young people's lives as they are navigating their own friendships and relationships and their relationships with their parents. I cannot sing the praises of this show enough. It warms my heart and is my happy place now, I think. I love it so much.
I fully agree with everyone that we are excited to see you back and so happy for reactions but you mentioned we don’t care to hear about your mental health or personal life and I just want it to be clear that for some of us that isn’t true. Take the time you need to be the most honest happy version of yourself for us. You deserve that.
One cool and slightly surreal thing I’m experiencing now is watching a video made by someone I follow on TH-cam and also support on Patreon, and in that video a character watches a video made by someone else I follow on TH-cam and support on Patreon (that would be Courtney-Jai, the real life bisexual TH-camr Nick watches in Episode 6). Even though I’ve already watched the full length versions of both of these reactions, it was fun to rewatch them here in slightly shorter versions. Glad to see you’re back!
You probably know this already but Heartstopper is based upon a graphic novel of the same name written by Alice Oseman. There are 4 volumes about Nick and Charlie’s journey together along with their classmates. The stories and characters have been changed slightly to be a better live action show.
Alex remember that if you need to talk with us about anything, we are here. I dont know why but i feel a special connection with you and your content, i think it's because you put your heart i this reactions and its so "pure" idk. The thing is that here we are to support you if you need. A huge hug from Chile 💛
12:35 well we did hear Charlie's father communicate when he took him to the party and then there is Tori (which brings up the question where she got it from) and on Nick's side.. well his mother is (basically) Olivia Coleman. What else is there to say?
I always took what Imogen said with a grain of salt. On one hand she shuts the boys up by saying something they can comprehend. On the other hand she can indeed do better: she can fall for a guy who falls equally for her. That is much better than going after a guy who is not into her.
28:48 well Isaac kinda knew... he walked in on Charlie and Nick after the rugby game; but at some point Charlie says that Isaac probably could guess anyways; but nope, the others did not know
ahhh don't apologize for taking your time, feel proud for doing your best to pull through! better days are coming n remember you're so valuable!! believe me I've been enjoying your commentary a lot ur so fun to listen i feel like you make me company :)
Loved this reaction I joined your channel when u started Julie and the phantoms and I'm so glad u started haertstopper as well. And I'm 16 and really relate to nick and him trying to figure stuff out so it's great to see TH-camrs I love acknowledge, love, and appreciate these kinds of shows.
So glad you're back. Your videos always make my day. And I would also like to say that we do care. And I hope everything is getting better. Sending love And support from Czech Republic
tao and elle are/were just like … completely sure that nick is heterosexual. tao did notice that nick and charlie’s interactions were not … like 100% platonic (or at least he knew that charlie didnt interpret them as such) so from tao’s pov, nick is just this straight rugby lad that’s kinda messing with charlie.
What's funny about the bowling alley scene in Episode 5 where you said in regards to Nick's date with Imogen...you felt Elle would be fine with it but Tao is going to be a bitch...what is hilarious is the fact while they do the bowling montage and Tao is seething...listen to the words of the song playing...it is talking about a buzzkill (i.e. Tao)! lol This show had some major lowkey sass at times!
I don't think Charlie was avoiding confrontation in general, I think he's being protective of Nick specifically. Trying to avoid situations that could potentially compromise his anonymity during this challenging part of his coming out. Charlie and Tao aren't on the same page. To Tao Nick is just the straight friend that Charlie is crushing hard on. And Charlie cannot expose that Nick is in a vulnerable state right now, or that he and Nick are much more than friends.
No because I’m fighting you, the way you treat Imogene is unacceptable 😂 for being a sarcastic commentator you really couldn’t pick up on that sarcasm 😅
Wow, you are trailing us on with this series, haha. Your reactions are great. I hope you get out of your ruff time, not for reactions but just for yourself. It is so hard to create anything when it's hard to take care of yourself.

Glad to see you’re back!
i inhaled so violently when i saw the upload i choked 💀glad to see you're back and well!
You probably know this already but Heartstopper is based upon a graphic novel of the same name written by Alice Oseman. There are 4 volumes about Nick and Charlie’s journey together along with their classmates. The stories and characters have been changed slightly to be a better live action show.
seeing that you had uploaded this video had me smiling so big i swear 😂you might have a point with the "heartstopper withdrawl"
I laughed when Imogen said her dog died too, I was watching it with my friends and they looked at me like I was insane 🤣
Alex remember that if you need to talk with us about anything, we are here. I dont know why but i feel a special connection with you and your content, i think it's because you put your heart i this reactions and its so "pure" idk. The thing is that here we are to support you if you need. A huge hug from Chile 💛
Me in the beginning of the video: yeesss he retorned!!!
Me in the ending of the video: o noooooo don't finish it nooowww noooooooooooooooooo
My dog died 20 days prior to the release and I found it both hilarious and painful at the same time hearing that. It was so out of the blue lmao
Omgggggg can’t believe ur alive
LOLLL I WAS JUST GOING THROUGH IT BUT IM BACK
8:18 well since neither Elle nor Tao know that Nick is actually with Charlie none of them think that Nick was two-wiming after all
12:35 well we did hear Charlie's father communicate when he took him to the party and then there is Tori (which brings up the question where she got it from) and on Nick's side.. well his mother is (basically) Olivia Coleman. What else is there to say?
I always took what Imogen said with a grain of salt. On one hand she shuts the boys up by saying something they can comprehend. On the other hand she can indeed do better: she can fall for a guy who falls equally for her. That is much better than going after a guy who is not into her.
28:48 well Isaac kinda knew... he walked in on Charlie and Nick after the rugby game; but at some point Charlie says that Isaac probably could guess anyways; but nope, the others did not know
tbh I rlly wish we could have seen nick watching Brokeback mountain with his mum, that would have been gold
I’m always excited when you drop a video mate, just know you have a fanbase that cares. ❤
that means the absolute world to me 🥺 thank u so much ilu❤️
@@alexchris13 of course, we are a community man- even in the most difficult times, you are never alone ❤
Was so glad to see you had uploaded again. We've missed you.
when i saw the date this vid was released, i was like "no. now i have to wait for the best epidsodesssss"
Such a great show. I can't wait for S2.... Nic's smile just melts my heart
My read on his LGBT movie search was he was looking for something to watch with his mom as a sort of opening the door to coming out.
OMG I MISSED YOU!!! Hope you get better!!
Loved the video
I MISSED YOU TOO!!🥹 thank u sm ❤️
ahhh don't apologize for taking your time, feel proud for doing your best to pull through! better days are coming n remember you're so valuable!! believe me I've been enjoying your commentary a lot ur so fun to listen i feel like you make me company :)
Your face when she said “my dog died” 😂😂😂

It’s ok Alex. U don’t have to apologize. I’m sorry u we’re going thru a tough time it I hope it’s better now
OF COURSE we want the last two episodes too!! ASAP❤❤
How I have missed you. Such a great commentary on this show. Looking foward to the next 2. Thank you for being you😊❤️
Yes! Glad you're back to react to my favorite show 🥹💝
tao and elle are/were just like … completely sure that nick is heterosexual. tao did notice that nick and charlie’s interactions were not … like 100% platonic (or at least he knew that charlie didnt interpret them as such) so from tao’s pov, nick is just this straight rugby lad that’s kinda messing with charlie.
Thank you for posting and I hope you feel better soon!
I genuinely didn’t know that Elle and Tao weren’t a couple until Elle said she had a crush and then I was like wait aren’t you already together
We do care about you going through a rough time. Hope it’s getting better for you ❤️
thank you so much ❤️ i am feeling a lot better recently!
You're like that one friend of mine who's whereabouts is unknown until they show up again when everyone thought they're dead. Anyways, HI. .
LMAOO i’m sorry this made me laugh too hard 😭😭 i know i’m a MESS but hi🥹
Bro, I missed you. Hopefully things are getting better for you. Love ya
Sorry it's been rough, but glad you're back! Your reactions are hilarious xd. But also thought out. Loved this one!
Nick’s mom❤️
the spooky season cup ❤ sorry you were having a rough time but yay to you being back
everything is spooky over here right now😌 and thank you!! feeling a lot better recently ❤️
I hope you'll react to the last two episodes. Given how much you've been liking them, I think you'll LOVE the finale.
Your videos always make me laugh so hard😭😭😭
i’m so glad :’)❤️
I WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE THIS
1. Your reactions are amazing.
2. Absolutely love your hair.
Wow, you are trailing us on with this series, haha. Your reactions are great. I hope you get out of your ruff time, not for reactions but just for yourself. It is so hard to create anything when it's hard to take care of yourself.
Yessss I’ve been waiting, love your reactions man !❤
so glad you enjoy them!! thanks so much for watching 🥰
Ay, don't be so hard on yourself! I bet most of your subscribers do care to know how you are doing! Love your reaction to heartstopper!
I love Heartstopper ❤ rock on 🤘
Alex....finally🤗
I guess am in love with your reactions... worth waiting for 🥰
Guood observations om the struggles of coming out.
