thanks for making the only video on the whole internet about this! i was so confused about what the difference was between this and the a50 x. a review would be hype. i already got the a50 x but this is just the plain better version for me and probably most people.
Why ? wireless gaming headset are soo close to wired one now a days. if you want wired headset just go to high end brands that would make more logical.
It would technically still be getting an audio quality hit over the A50X HDMI audio, but most people don’t care and this is a good option for people not like the $380 price tag as compared to something like Turtle Beach or the Maxwells. Also having all 3 platforms still be usable on this is good instead of having to choose between being locked into Xbox or PS. Glad to see Logitech making a consumer focused move and keeping the competition
Why would it get a audio quality hit? It's all digital signals so it shouldn't matter. It's not like analog to digital where you lose signal-information.

Most people’s issue with the game chat mix is you have to scroll through the menu to adjust it after hitting the PS logo button. Being able to change it with a dial or tapping the headset cup is much easier than being taken out of the game adjusting the menu, especially if those elements change like someone louder joining after you’ve adjusted. It’s a convenience thing.
It’s going from 24 bit audio through hdmi to 16 bit through usb, so yes, technically it would sound worse but most people wouldn’t ever be able to tell a difference.
@@WhiteHartMartthe clarity takes a hit yes, also PlayStation 5 3D audio ruins footstep tracking for me in my experience. I haven’t run their new 7 step headset calibration but outside of PS first party titles HDMI audio gets much louder and clearer than 3D audio for me

man I am disappointed. I just want a single or double usb c dongles. no base station crap with cables running to power outlet, my pc, ps5.... just sucks ass. Give me a50/a50x with JUST A GOD DAMN C DONGLE WHAT THE HELL !!!
@@HiCZoK Probably the Logitech G Pro X 2 is the way to go. Similar driver tech, same company, but it used a USB-C dongle. A50 series has been using the base station for many years.
Haha well.... im just running over usb on my A50x anyway.... running hdmi thru the base and then through my AV reciever did not work well... so wish this came out at the same time and save me the $80. Very curious how much of an audio loss there is... not that id be able to tell anyway, they still sound amazing over usb (to me)
Lol, I just bought the A50 X like 3 months ago. Mainly because of the base station but also to easily switch between PS5 and PC and because of the better microphone compared to gen 4. Now they come with this one and I don't know what I should think of it. Basically I paid 70€ more for a feature I dont really need and a little less good asthetics (i kind of like the red accent on the gen 5). Guess it is not the end of the world but still a little annoying.
I'm so frustrated man. My gen 3s have served me well for years and I've been trying to replace them but met with so much trouble. First i tried the A50Xes but then found out they did away with the dolby digital button thing which is what gave it great surround sound, also no optical cable which was the only way to hook it up to my tv and xbox simultaneously. I got these Gen4 A50s today and while i can hook it up the same, the audio is slightly worse/off and theres a constant high pitch noise on the left ear that after researching is plaguing these. I just want a great pair of headphones, i dont even care how much i have to spend but all these other trash reccomedations of other brands do not have the "real" surround sound that my old Gen3s had somehow. Sure the individual sounds might sound more crisp and detailed, but the positioning of the audio is awful and feels like its coming from in front or behind. My guess is people dont care because they just want to hear the guy coming around a corner reloading but I want an immersive experience in my RPGs and such. This new pair doesn't even have the right connection to use with a smart tv, the blue tooth is a work around but then you get double audio and is a pain in the rear to turn off and swap between. /rant
I play on PlayStation, will a50 gen5 be able to control chat audio and game audio independently? Like mute game audio and raise chat audio, or vice versa? But directly on the headphones not in the console menu.

I’m soo confused. I was wanting the A50x as I’m coming from an old a40 TR. I only play ps5 what features will I be missing if I go for the gen 5?
