Eva Cassidy was the lead singer for a band that I and my wife-to-be hired for our wedding reception in the fall of 1986 (years before she was famous). We had booked them months in advance -- not because she was famous, that would come at least 10 years later -- but because that's what you did, planning a wedding. (I wanted to hire Root Boy Slim, but Donna said, "No frickin' way." The band cost $700, including the agent's fee, and it had broken up by the time we got married.. But they were good to their commitment. Eva showed up in a cast (broken leg) and sang every song sitting down. They rocked that Hilton ballroom in Fairfax County, and she blew away every one of our guests. None of you have ever heard her sing, "Ain't to Proud to Beg," but I have, because she did at our reception, and I have a video to prove it. RIP Eva, you were amazing then and now!

Martin, a friend of mine in the record industry was visiting America. He met with Tony who produced Eva's records. Martin was blown away by her voice and wanted to meet her. Sadly she had passed away. Martin negotiated the rights for Australasia, England and I think Europe. He want to see the producer of Terry Wogan and made him play Over the Rainbow. The rest is history. Martin doesn't seem to get the recognition he deserves for helping bring Eva to the world.... thank you Martin.

There are no words.......Once in a generation there is a soul like Eva . We are all blessed because her music is still with us. This song especially touches me.. I saw my wife for the first time over 57 years ago. Even now, if I catch sight of her unexpectedly, she "Takes my breath away.."
Hendrik,when I first set eyes on my Wife at the then local roller skating rink,as I walked in through the doors,she was among a hundred skaters, all going around the floor,in anti-clockwise direction. As I looked around on entering the building at lots of lovely girls,one skater caught my eye,and I knew that second as I watched her go by..she would be mine! The following week,I didn't go...the week after that...I did go...and I took my girl home....met her Mother that night...went for my tea the next Saturday afternoon,as was customary,a long time ago,in the Coalmining communities,in Northumberland U.K....[in 1962] I was 17 yrs old,my girl was 16 yrs old,we were both like-minded ,in music,walking,chatting,etc.. We were courting five years,have been married fifty-two years,and she is STILL the one I look at with the same feelings I had when I met her 57 years ago! In my part of the world we say "I dote on her"! You and me are both touched by Eva's beautiful voice and guitar playing. Can’t believe I’ve never this beautiful angelic voice before if it hadn’t been through watching Kathy Melua interview talking about Eva I’d wouldn’t be listening to her singing now . There are no words.......Once in a generation there is a soul like Eva . We are all blessed because her music is still with us. This song especially touches me.. I saw my wife for the first time over 57 years ago. Even now, if I catch sight of her unexpectedly, she "Takes my breath away.."
Hendrik,when I first set eyes on my Wife at the then local roller skating rink,as I walked in through the doors,she was among a hundred skaters, all going around the floor,in anti-clockwise direction.
As I looked around on entering the building at lots of lovely girls,one skater caught my eye,and I knew that second as I watched her go by..she would be mine!
The following week,I didn't go...the week after that...I did go...and I took my girl home....met her Mother that night...went for my tea the next Saturday afternoon,as was customary,a long time ago,in the Coalmining communities,in Northumberland U.K....[in 1962]
I was 17 yrs old,my girl was 16 yrs old,we were both like-minded ,in music,walking,chatting,etc..
We were courting five years,have been married fifty-two years,and she is STILL the one I look at with the same feelings I had when I met her 57 years ago!
In my part of the world we say "I dote on her"!
You and me are both touched by Eva's beautiful voice and guitar playing.
When I watch Eva playing and singing,I wish I could play the way she does effortlessly,and I have played guitar 60 years!

How can anyone not like this song. They must have a heart made of stone and be tone deaf. It's just stunning from the start to the finish. Flawless is a word that comes to mind. It's a crying shame she was taken in her prime.

I’ve been listening to mostly Jazz singers Billie , Sarah , Christy , Ella etc but this voice is right up there . Her beautiful voice fits any music & my compliments don’t fall out of mouth easily .
