- Team Mojarto met father son artist duo Ram Vanji Sutar and Anil Sutar for Father's Day Special to celebrate there 23years of work life together and here is what they had to say:
Anil: He was always interested in art because he was helping his mother,as you know in the villages they make urns to put the grains in there and on the walls they take the cow dung and clay and smear it on the wall. He used to draw a lot of pictures on the walls of Shivaji, Tukaram and that was his passion. He always used to be with his mother and play with the clay which was brought from the lake, so he used to make small toys out of that. But my father had a innate talent, he came across one art teacher Shriram Krishna Joshi and he asked if he can come and sit in his class as he had no money. He saw my father's water color painting and said he can join us. In fact he developed so much love for my father that he asked him to stay on. He started learning there, then when his teacher saw that he could make very good sculptures as well he told some schools to get Gandhi statue made from him or something so that he can earn some money. The first Gandhi statue which he made in the village, fetched him Rs. 100. I wanted to actually join college of art in JJ or in Delhi, but my father said you are an artist already and I think if you are an architect it will add one more dimension to entire career.
Ram: Anil had talent in him and I encouraged him. Since he was a child, Anil would make arrangements out of any material he would get his hands on. He would create something from toy parts. One day, he was holding my hand and walking with me in the market, he had just learnt the alphabets. While walking, he noticed that there were several roads going in different directions, he could see the alphabet 'H' on the roads. Once we were standing on the terrace and he saw an airplane forming a circle, he could see a zero in the plane's movement. I mean, look at the kind of talent he had.
Anil: We both share the same nature, we think on the same wavelength. This is the key which brought me to this stage, where I am able to work with him simultaneously and
he appreciates what I tell him and I appreciate what he tells me.
Father and Mother are very important, specially on Fathers day one should think about what their fathers have done all their life. Generally it is said that mothers take good care, but people forget that a father also has a very big contribution towards maintaining a family and bringing up the children.
