Whatever happened to digging in at 30 for 3, loads of overs left, push it around for singles, wait for the bad ball to put away, apply urself and get up to 175, give the team a chance.
Some of those shots.... wow! just wow!

In the 90's I captained Shirebrook at Harthill and beat them with a patched up team (a club wedding), bowling throughout and getting a 5 for. We had a lad back from the Navy for the weekend who carried his bat for a big ton and I knocked it about to get us over the line, from memory Harthill 250+ we got them with as few balls to spare, great game, the Harthill chair was upset that we beat them, to be honest we were very happy bunnies, batting the 11 at 1 and him doing what he did at 11 hit the bad ball and dotted the good ball, getting us off to a good start.

That looked like a green topped early season pitch and a bunch of blokes just out of winter mothballs. Cant beleive it was the same side from last week. Roll on the end of the season.

A jarring reminder of our early season form, wasn’t it Jimbo? Don’t wish the season away though! We might be destined for mid-table mediocrity, but there’s four games left and, looking at the fixture list, we’ll have a big say in which teams go up and down.

An August pitch in Yorkshire. It looked like an April one down south.
Needless to say I don't fancy a bat at Harthill thanks!

We get accused of that at Wheatley, but you have to give yourself a bit of a chance to dig in. But, saying that, that’s not as much fun.

Welcome back Eddie. Did Kirk score a second ton last week? Good, Bad and Ugly this week James. Time for tea and a 20 over game? 😀

And the only wicket t'fall were taken by Peck the younger. As there were no video of t'cricket last week I did a bit of research and discovered that in December 1913 there were a dispute between Lord Fountayne Montagu of Papplewick hall and Duke Jeremiah Peck De Busli of Leverton Dovecote over the sale of a 3 year old cob and it led to years of bitter legal wranglings and ended with the Pecks and all their descendants and friends named Nixon being banned for life from being within 25 miles of Papplewick.

I promised myself I would never set foot in that place and I’ve stuck by it to this day. Great-uncle Jezzer would be apoplectic. A cob’s a cob.

Are you telling me you had no time to research that beautiful church? Slacking. Almost like you were childminding.

Good grief, you’re right. FWIW, All Hallows’ Church was built in the 11th century and was the traditional burial place for the Dukes of Leeds from nearby Kiveton Hall which was demolished in 1811. Phew, I feel better now.
