Hey man thanks i.e. the smoke test. I don't smoke had an unopened pack of Chesterfields just because. Long n short of it fired one up blew smoke through the vacuum line from the throttle body side and found the leak. Under the battery tray going to the cruise control module. Plugged it off going to redo the lines during one of my next days off.
okay follow up on my defrost only problem on my 04 WJ it was simply unplugged from the manifold at the intake on the engine. plugged it in and vents turned right on and the cruise is working as well. thanks to this video for isolating it into the engine compartment easy quick fix amazing
AI have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. All my vacuum lines are attached and in place. Even the ones coming off the back of the knobs on the dash. Maybe it's check valve. I only see one on the line coming right off the intake manifold. Is it common for those to go bad? I just bought a vacuum tester. I will try that tomorrow.

The inline check valves rarely go bad.
Shane Cox. I’m screwed then. Guess I’ll just try the vacuum tester on one hose at a time and go from there .

It's easy to test a check valve. You should bbe able to blow through it and the air only goes through in one direction not the other direction
Shane Cox I found the problem. The vacuum hose came off the little plastic vacuum canister screwed to the bottom of the battery tray.
Excellent
We're can I get those cheak valves
