Lovely kit matey , I started to collect the Hachette 1,200th Hood but there were issues of unreliability with the company......ended up speaking with someone in Italy.....so stopped collecting . Nice big kits which can be built in to a superb display.......keep us informed.
Do it what do you have to lose other that hundreds of hours of your life and a bit of space. There is a nice 1/350 version that's a bit lighter on the wallet and can be built waterline without the aid of a saw. You could give that a go ?
Very sorry to hear your Hood was nicked. Hope you got your money back ? I'm still not sure if I want to backdate my Hood to as built yet but that would mean buying a lot of guns on shapeways and I don't know how good they are.
Hi ! I am also interest with trumpeter model ship , so would like to know how is the quality and how good or how easy to assemble them ? mean is it like Tamiya all the joint are good to go and so on ... tks
Hi, not started it yet. Just trying to clear the decks by finishing a few tanks I have on the go. I intend to start it in the winter ao not sure how easy it will be. Looking at it however the mouding is excellent and there is no noticeable flash that i can see. There is a lot more etch in this one than their HMS Nelson and I've only bought a set of barrels as there doesn't seem to be the same need for extras. I'll post something when I start. No idea what the painting sequence is going to be though as I have no experience of this kind of thing !
Well there is a 1/200 scale paper model available for about £40, I think it's Polish. I don't know of any plastic kits in this scale though. There's the old Tamiya 1/350 Prince Of Wales and if you want to model it at the time it was out with the Hood then the Tamiya King George the Fifth could be used. There are also the Fleetscale kits but you have to build a lot of that yourself and they're about £538 for a semi kit where you'd have to build most of the superstructure.
Hi Kevin, Merit already do a 1/350 Ark Royal that looks pretty good. I'd like a victorious around WW2 era too though 1/350 is probably big enough. A KGV or Sheffield in 1/200 would be cool though.
i have already have mine on order waiting for it to be delivered
She is a beauty, looks more or less like the 1/350 one Trumpeter made only way bigger, still would like to get it as well.

Nice kit, I only deal in 1/350 scale, all I have is modern ships but looking at the Hood is making me want to start WW2 ships,

Yes James I probably will but will be near Christmas before I start, thanks.
@HMS king George V Maybe he meant some later christmas, in coming years
Is there a model of the HMS Prince of whales? If you don’t know the prince of whales it was with the hood when it was destroyed by the KMS Bismarck
