    Very nice vid; thanks for sharing - looks like a lot of work with tweezers and superglue... and the patience of a saint to get all that done. Looks like it's coming along great though, and will look amazing when it's done.
    I've found that a lot of the aftermarket PE manufacturers instructions are mostly useless and generally amount to: "bend this part into some shape and put it somewhere over there". To be fair those instructions you have for the Hood seem to be about the best PE instructions I've seen.
    I generally model armour and now usually only go for things like engine grills, turned barrels and individual track links - stuff you can actually use. I find the full on etched sets to be a bit of a waste of time (for me) as I'd rather try and scratch (or improve) details with plastic if I can. Thanks for the vid, much appreciated, and if you wanted to do a tutorial on handling PE on the Hood, I think it'd be a good idea. Thanks.

      Thanks, man! Yes PE instructions can be hard to understand and the Pontos set is pretty good. I like the fact they show the finished piece as you then have some sort of reference point to go off of. The thing is there's utterly so much PE and accessories in this set that I find I'm almost overwhelmed by it. Thanks for your response to the questions, I will certainly find something to build up in a video. Cheers!

      Thanks. Do you mean specifically on photo etch? I do have another one planned, I just have to find time to do it.😀

    Those life boats and detail Sets are awsome!
    Thise schematics are great although as you say some are a bit "dark" to figure what to do

    • @SmallSoldier
      @SmallSoldier  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they really bring the level of detail way up. Thanks for tuning in Alex! Cheers.

    What's the toughest photo etch/detail set you've ever tried to tackle? What do you guys think of aftermarket details? Is it worth the effort? Let me know... I'm curious.

      I'm building the 1/200 Bismarck and I think it's well worth the time and effort to do the photo etch. Like you, I do not use everything, but this being my first model with photo etch, I've learned alot and I think it's looking really nice. I did find that if you go to Pontos website and look at their online directions, there are some updates that will clear up certain things and makes things easier. Nice job so far...

      That’s amazing detail and progress you’ve achieved!! The only photo etch I’ve done is a little on the 1/35 scale Mini Art German Cargo Truck L1500s which I’ve had a rest from to finish an Airfix 1/72 Messerschmitt Bf 109 (that I’ve changed to the Black 6 tropical camouflage) so a tutorial on photo etch would be great! Thanks for posting!!

      @@davetraver4655 Interesting... Great point! I'll have to check their site out and see what I can find that might be useful. The Bismarck is classic. That wou;d be a fun one as well. Is that a Trumpeter kit too?

      @@kevbee8325 Thanks Kev! I have a few 109's to build as well. I'm looking forward to getting at the new Tamiya kit they released last year. I'll definitely do a video on something from the Hood. Thanks for answering the post. Cheers!
