Beautiful little hat! Thanks, and subscribed. For those who have trouble with the magic circle, you can instead make a chain of 5 and slip stitch into the first ch st to form a ring, and do the 12 DC into the center of the ring. You can tug on the tail to close the hole after the first round. Also, beginners may want to insert a stitch marker into the top of the first DC in each round as soon as it's made so they can tell which loop to slip stitch into when joining. Counting back works unless you accidentally skipped a stitch, LOL.
I had so much fun creating this hat:). Your tutorial/instructions are very clear and at a very workable pace. Your repetitions allowed me to crochet while listening to your instructions. You're a great teacher! Thank you! 💗
I made these hat last week for my friend who just had a baby. It is a really beautiful pattern and I made it with 2 colors. It was easy to follow. Greetings from The Netherlands!
OMGoodness, I wish I could count how many times I've tried to make a shell stitch hat - and now I have finally done it. You are an amazing teacher. And your accent is adorable (I'm from Atlantic Canada). Thank you so much!
I just made this hat, (my second crochet project ever) and it turned out wonderfully! Thank you for your clear instructions! I am looking forward to putting it on my baby who is due in a couple of months :-) Bless you x
Hello there! I have to say I love your voice and the way you explain everything slowly and carefully. You can't repeat things too many times for me !!!!! I am on holiday and am challenging myself and having so much fun at the same time. A great big thank you for your time and excellent coaching! I am curious as to what you look like too!!! I have watched so many of these videos and feel like I know you lol!!!
Thank you for your tutorial! You're explanation is so clear. I've tried a lot of patterns that start with a ring/magic loop but I failed all of them. Thanks to you I finally succeeded!
Well ... I would like to say thank you for posting this video .... I started to learn to crochet a couple of weeks ago ... i have crocheted 3 different beanies ... I love it .... anyway the young woman next door is having a baby girl soon ... so i thought i would crochet a lovely little beanie for the bubs ... :) I have chosen your pattern :)
For the pancake hat people - happened to me too. Rewatch row 6 again as that is where it starts to reduce. Sc in 1st stitch and skip 2, *5dc (shell) in front of sc below, skip 2, sc at top of shell below*. I needed to watch it several times to understand but then all was good and it came out great! I was putting my sc in the wrong place at first.
Thank you for the explanation clearly. I didn’t watch all so I had to watch all the way. It happened to me too. Now it turned out great. I have done with other beanie numerous times so I know the decrease and increase for those.
I appreciate that your videos are detailed and that you go at a slow, even pace with your voice and your stitching. I will derby keep crocheting due to the confidence your tutorial gave me. Thank you so much!
This is the first thing I have ever crocheted! After a few hiccups and restarts, it's turned out beautifully! Your instructions were perfect, thank you so much. I'm now addicted to crochet, and have subscribed to your channel (the first you tube channel I've EVER subscribed to)! Lots of love from Kitty in Australia!
Thank you for this clear acurate tutorial. I have just subscribed. I have watched a few and i find your way of teaching very very good. Slow, clear and accurate. You dont take for granted that we all know what your talking about and explain everything very clearly. Thank you. My first granddaughter is due in November and i want to make something nice for her. Hope mine turns out okay. I can knitt but this is my first time crocheting.
Love your sweet voice thank you for sharing this lovely baby hat shell pattern and I made it with red and cream colour looks very pretty keep smiling keep vloging keep crocheting and keep sharing 😘🇬🇧
Love your patterns! When I first started crocheting I remember looking for you patterns specifically! Although I'd like to add, make sure anytime your doing a double crochet round to always chain 2, otherwise it makes a dimple in the circle. Otherwise your patterns are great!
If you end up with a flat shape rather than something resembling a hat it is likely the yarn is too small - the first one I tried I was using a 4ply yarn and ended up with a flat shape, I have now made one using 10ply and it has worked well.
Your Tutorials are lovely. I wish to do this same hat for a 5year old girl. Kindly tell me which number hook I should use and also is there any variations in magic circle or chain numbers?
Watched again & what she's actually doing is a US double and a half crochet. Pull thru ONE loop, pull thru TWO loops, pull thru TWO loops again. 2 1/2 double crochet. It works even if its different.
I love your patterns and instructions. Thank you. But I am having a difficult time at the end of each round making it look good and not getting a puckered look. Any advise for me? Thanks
I love your work. Just wondering if you could do videos for more advanced crocheters too? Your explanation is fantastic but I'm going quicker now :) plus would love to see fancy stitches explained by you.
Thanks as always for an excellent tutorial! I tried a different pattern with written instructions and I couldn't get it. I found your TH-cam video and was able to follow along to complete this beautiful hat. I appreciate you very much!
Melissa Wallace so your rounds are going to go up in increments of 12. Round :1) was 12 stitches 2) is 24 3) is 36 4) is 48 5) is 60. And that is not including the start up chain. Hope this helps in all other projects and I know it’s late on this one but hopefully it helps.
Hi...love your patterns and your tutorials are really helpful. You take your time when teaching the steps and that is a plus for me....I do have one question. what kind of yarn in the US is comparable to the yarn you use....for example for the baby hats patterns, what yarn weight do you suggest...I see you use Lima drops a lot...don't think we have that here...I like Bernat yarn...would I use 4,5,6 yarn weight to get the right size of the hat.....thanks .....Shari
I was having trouble for the same reason so I think I got it.first row 12,2nd 24 round 3 36 stitches round 4 54 stitches round 5 67 stiches.then is a breeze from there on.
I used size 5 hook with 4 oz weight yarn and my hat looked like a doily 7 rows in. So I took it apart and pulled the yarn out to 4 rows. I'll try the fan stitch from there and see how it goes.
I love your videos and your very calming and soothing voice!! Actually my hat also looks like a doily, it doesn't have the curve, not sure where i went wrong??
Once you get thru the shells it starts to take shape. I used a 5 hook and it’s too large but looks about right for 12 months. It my first one so I’ll try next with a smaller hook. I’m going for newborn size to donate to local hospital.
Wonderful hat. I have used 4.5mm hook and made 4 rounds as basement and it measured 4.5 inches.. Then started the hat, but it is not wider enough to fit the baby's head,( the total length is 5 inches) Please help me to fix
I've made at least 30 of these..many with pompoms..super cute. Have read the complaints about flat circles instead of hat shaped. Please FOLLOW HER DIRECTIONS in the shell section. I believe that's where your error lies..not with this woman's BRILLIANT tutorial.
Hi Anna, what type of yarn did you use? I am making my first one and am onto the first row of shell stitch but it's not appearing very hat like, I am using a 4ply yarn.
Would it be possible to put 6 dc into the fan instead of 5 or would that mess up the pattern its just ive found a pattern for a pair of booties that would go amazing with this and the fan has 6 dc insted of 5 on the fan pattern it goes around the top of the booties like a flower its would go amazing with this hat
Beautiful little hat! Thanks, and subscribed.

Have made this hat several times & its just lovely. The stitch is fairly easy & is very feminine. Thanks for your clear instructions.

Yes thank you🙏 I somehow missed making the sc between the shells. Thank you for leading me directly to the row with the errors 🙏
Thank you for the explanation clearly. I didn’t watch all so I had to watch all the way. It happened to me too. Now it turned out great. I have done with other beanie numerous times so I know the decrease and increase for those.

WoolyWondersCrochet
I keep messing up in round 5. I've redone it 6 times and it still doesn't end on a double. When it doesn't say stitch count, I lose track.
Melissa Wallace I guess you didn't start the round with the start up chain..
Rekha I did. That was months ago. I've done several since then.
Wo..........wooooooooo.......💕💕💕💕
You are the best hun!
Thank you 🙏 so much it’s very easy
I made one hat following your tutorial so thank you..I was wondering how old of a baby girl can wear it?

I love this! Does anyone know the stitch count per row? If I don’t Count I get all mixed up
I was having trouble for the same reason so I think I got it.first row 12,2nd 24 round 3 36 stitches round 4 54 stitches round 5 67 stiches.then is a breeze from there on.
Very well explained 💚🌹💚
Hello are you able to make this pattern for a child of the age of 3 and 4? Is it just a matter of hook size?
So cute 🥰
Thank you very much for useful video, ^^ im a beginner, I’ve been making a beanie for 2or 3years baby. How can i increase the size of the beanie ? ^^;
Thank you very pretty god bless 🙏
Cute one. Thanks.

If I want to make this cute little hat for my 2-year-old granddaughter, which crochet hook can I use?
How can you turn this pattern for a regular adult size? Increase size hook? Increase the stitches in the first round?
I've made at least 30 of these..many with pompoms..super cute. Have read the complaints about flat circles instead of hat shaped. Please FOLLOW HER DIRECTIONS in the shell section. I believe that's where your error lies..not with this woman's BRILLIANT tutorial.
Hi Anna, what type of yarn did you use? I am making my first one and am onto the first row of shell stitch but it's not appearing very hat like, I am using a 4ply yarn.
How many stitches are in each round? Very confusing. Thank you.
I am wondering the same thing. She doesn't mention how many stitches after the first round of fans.
