    Great interview man. When you asked Mike if he had a crazy fan story it made me remember an EHG show back in like 1998 or 99. They were playing a show in New Orleans. They went into 'Sabbath Jam' and some dude from the crowd got up on stage, grabbed the mic and started singing. Mike IX had a piece of glass or something and cut the dudes forhead. There was blood everywhere! I think Mike ended up going to jail that night. Talk about punk rock 💀

      This incident was recorded and has been available on youtube. Not sure if it's still up, but it's absolutely one of my favorite concert videos that I've ever seen. I think the dude was so fucked up he wasn't aware of what actually happened, but after he realized I guess he was quite pissed off (understandably😂). And it wasn't a tiny poke, he sliced pretty deeply, grinning the entire time. Absolutely awesome stuff😮!

    Psst. Hey, brother. Lil correction for ya in your timestamp section: the author mentioned is "Charles Bukowski", not "Charles Makowski". I'm an old friend of Mike's, going back to 1990 or so, when I was playing guitar for APOSTASY, & my boy Brian had just joined EYEHATEGOD. Mike, Brian, Bower, etc., mentioned Bukowski to me back then & I ended up buying over 20 of his books over the years. I can't recommend his stuff highly enough! Get your hands on these works of his to start:
    Post Office
    Factotum
    Ham on Rye
    Love is a Dog From Hell
    Burning in Water, Drowning in Flame
    The Roominghouse Madrigals
    I'm currently reading his second-to-last novel, Hollywood, which is about the period of his life when he was writing the screenplay for the film Barfly, which starred Mickey Rourke as Bukowski & Faye Dunaway as his love interest. It's f*cking great!
    Mike's vocalizations on this recording by his old band, Drip, are Mike reading from a Bukowski book:

    If you or anyone else are interested in checking out rare EHG & related killer sh*t, you can use this. Plenty on my channel:

    Good interview you did, man. I met the Mastodon cats years ago, when they first started. They did a gig w/ Soilent Green, down here in NOLA. Cool cats...

      Pizzolato! Much appreciated, brother. I have a small library of metal magazines to get through before I dive back into novels. Once I do, you've got me sold on Bukowski. Heading over to your channel now to subscribe. Cheerz.

      @@iasknoonewithkevin My pleasure! I still have a handful of old metal mags (Metal Maniacs, Metal Edge, shit like that) over here that I've had since I was like 10 or 11 yrs old. I just couldn't bring myself to throw 'em away for some reason..?! The reviews were pretty cool in those. I have one that has a CROWBAR - 'Obedience Through Suffering' review in it, & one that has an EHG - 'In the Name of Suffering' review. There was a Metal Maniacs back then w/ a several-pages-long spread on EHG. I think Mike was living in NY at the time, working as an editor for the mag. A copy was in the practice room that was next door to our APOSTASY practice room. The room was shared by STRESSBALL (Joe Fazzio's old band before SUPERJOINT formed), PARALYSIS, & THE SATANIC, who Anselmo played drums for (they're on my channel -- look those up!). Anyway, I wish I would've ganked that book outta there 'cause I'm sure it ended up in tatters & in a waste-basket. Let me know if you ever run across that mag. It was from 'Take As Needed For Pain' era. I'd like to get a scan of the article from someone, somehow. Mike would probably like to see that again, too!
      Once you start the Bukowski, you're not gonna wanna quit. The first 3 works that I mentioned are novels (he wrote 6 of those) & the next 3 are poetry collections. He mostly wrote poetry & short stories. Even if you're like me, & not all that into poetry, you'll like his. He wrote about women, drinking, horse-betting, his odd jobs, & life in general. He'll make ya laugh, too. :)

    • @hangingon
      @hangingon 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Jesus/New Testament is the most anti authority, be cool to each other, remember to honor God, and stride on knowing this isn't all in vain. How do you see "socialist" in any of that? Jesus acknowledged the earthly system, but He was 100% connected to the Spiritual and God and showed God thru Himself. Jesus is legit!

    "Are you a Saints fan?" Dude, you're a professional interviewer; use open-ended questions. Like, "what do you enjoy for entertainment?" Just think about how much you could've learned from this man. You're sitting in front of an OG visionary and you're talking about your mom and the weather. What a dman shame. Who cares what your opinion is when you had such a chance to talk with the dude who worked on In the Name of Suffering in what, 1989?
