Every stylist Ive had says it does not matter where I part my hair. They just use a middle part as a guide for cutting... So maybe one side is little heavier than the other then after it is dry they remove weight. Love this.
Omg a student did this for me 20 years ago and i always tried to explain to every hairdresser and nobody did it for me. Finally i found this video and i can show it❤
Ok, you are correct! I have the same hair color and natural curly hair. I’ve been wearing this style for years with my curls or blow out. In the past 10 years I don’t think stylists learn this technique 😢 and I’m always trying to fix it or live with it. Thank you for sharing how I can fix a $70 (with tip) hairstyle when I get home ❤
For anyone else feeling this way-this is very much a video of tips after you’ve already gotten your license. I could imagine never having gone though the schooling and this video being extremely confusing. If you’ve learned how to cut curtain bangs already this video is amazing in fixing some common mistakes that make or break a haircut.
Jake, your beautiful spirit shines thru in your video's. In your video's you give knowledge and explanation of the techniques you are implementing. I love watching you create styles. Would love to see entire haircut and style from start to finish.
Hi, Jake! First I'd like to say, you're awesome! I just watched my first video of yours (How to cut and style a shag with curtain fringe) and subscribed because of how it showed up-close of all the cutting, styling and bits of WHY to use particular techniques... and I was super exited to see the 'side' cut version, but I'm totally perplexed of why all the first cutting and also the blowout styling was skipped through. Just telling us about it but not showing the visual of it at the same time, doesn't really help a simpleton like myself. Could you please upload a re-cut longer version of this video, so I can learn better of how to do this full hair cut. Thanks! All the best.
I agree. I feel like he has awesome techniques but they’re not really for diyers it’s for professionals to enhance their skills. But even then I wish he could explain just a tiny bit more during the process cause he starts cutting and then it’s “okay let’s dry it” lol
Love the slide cutting technique for lightening front heavy fringe side & front left hand side of mannequin ! Creates a stylish finish & is gonna be so effective to use . Great simple tip. 🏆 Many thanks from Australia !
Hey David, sorry about that, me & my editor at the time were not hitting on the same page. I’ve got a few more videos that go into a lot more side cutting depth if you’d like to check them? I like your energy and all but I think the way you explain how to cut hair is for people that already know how to cut hair, not for people that don’t know what they’re doing. If these are meant to help people with cutting their own hair (which I personally don’t suggest doing unless you’re a trained professional) but if that’s what these are for then they need more detail and to be slowed down and explained more.
Hi I love this side part hair cut that's exactly what I want but I am currently growing my fringe out from the slanted fringe I had. Its been 4 months since I tried to trim that fringe but its only to the tip of my nose now and less. It's unruly and I need a new hairdresser or I can try and do what you did but not sure if I can do a good job? Thanks for your cool videos love your vibes.
Thank you ! ... I need that... always 'side part'... wide face and a widows peak!? Need more info on 'widows peak'... and thinning hair sadly. Thank you.
I would have loved this video but u gave me nothing i know nothing is for free but if ur going to put it out their at least u could have given me a little more know how im a big girl though and i can siphon lol but i do love all ur other tutorial's on hair just this one leaves it to the imagination lol.

Yeah, my stylist does the middle part but then my hair is always shorter on one side a lopsided. Now I will ask for this going forward.
Every stylist I’ve ever been to always asks me where I part my hair :o

Omg SAME!!! I have also noticed this is in the last 10 years!! Every time I get a hair cut and it’s maybe once a year is not done right
I didn't catch the cutting around the face at all.
I didn’t either
I guess nobody catched it, since he doesn' t explain 🤷🏼♀️

Hello from Italy! Thank you so much for your help ❤️
I love how you do it! Fantastic job!
This is so helpful to getting an elegant part.
Thanks! I really like your techniques. I have a side part and needed some lessons to cut layers.
Could you give a tip to cut side part layers for yourself (DIY)?
Hi Mr. Jake Thompson I like to watch your teaching I want also to learn more on hair cutting lesson even I'm 51 year old

He doesn't appear to interact in comments.
Love it. This is what I imagine my hair looking like. But it doesn't.

Thanks so much. I love the shag hair but I could never do a middle part. It looks so bad on me. Side parts are it.
Awesome... wish you were my beautician 🤗 you really enjoy styling hair.
I love this cut, amazing and super sweet.
Looking forward to your brush .. !! Tension tension tension !!!!
Super nice, you are the best 💕
Thank you 🙏 ❤
If I want this haircut, what should I ask my stylist for?
Think I need to show hair dressers this. Every. Single. Time. My heavier side is SO CHOPPY... like a shelf and no layers on the other 😢
I’m digging it thank you!!!
Gorgeous cut!
Gorgeous!!!!
I had high hopes for this tutorial. When it came to the most important part, the cutting, it just skipped right over it.
Hey David, sorry about that, me & my editor at the time were not hitting on the same page.

How is this haircut called? Or what do I need to tell the hairdresser to get this haircut?
