It’s crazy how accurate the portrayal of the creatures (inner workings of the body) act like withe the flying streams of red animals being the bloodstream and the tentacle monsters being the white blood cells that destroy foreign bacteria and the T cells (splat) that inform them what is foreign and not. And the burning sea being the stomach.
It's a shame this movie didn't have better marketing. It's a really enjoyable pulp adventure flick with likeable characters and a pretty good twist I never would've seen coming.
The only thing we did know going into the movie was what a loud vocal minority of Disney animators and cartoon fangirls WANTED us to know about it. And it wasn’t the kind of news that sold tickets.

This was an okay Disney animated movie. It felt like it was trying to follow the trail left behind by the likes of fellow Disney flicks Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Treasure Planet in terms of a non-musical, action-adventure film with steampunk flair. The twist at the very end of this movie however was clever. That makes the explorers themselves invaders while the creatures are like antibodies defending the body from disease.

Add to the fact that it was an insanely dumb decision to put Turning Red on streaming back in January of ‘22 over omicron concerns, instead of just maybe delaying the film as it didn’t release for another two months. The reason was because they were concerned that families weren’t returning to theaters yet (which doesn’t make sense as Sing 2 came out in December of ‘21 and that performed quite well). Add to the fact that in April both Sonic 2 and Bad Guys were massive hits, so in hindsight it was wrong not to give Turning Red a theatrical release
